The room’s smoke alarm went off while I was in the shower. I jumped out with a soapy wet head to find the room reeking of smoke which seemed to be coming from the heat/air. The front desk person claimed this had never happened before. And said he’d move me to another room. He also claimed it wasn’t coming from the heater, that I must’ve caused it with the microwave or coffee pot; although it was neither of these things. They refused to give a refund. Told orbitz in the middle of the night that I caused the smoke from the microwave, which I never used. Today, their contact person told Orbitz that it was common for their heater to smoke when initially turned on, and it sometimes caused the alarm to go off. I have the screen shot from that conversation. That should not be an issue.  I ended up checking into another hotel at 1:30 AM drenched with a soapy head, and paid again for another hotel. They refused to refund my stay saying “it was nonrefundable;” even though safety was a concern of mine after they refused to fully check the unit and wall, not to mention they blamed me for something that was obviously their fault.
