The staff in the bar restaurant was incredibly nice and helpful. We enjoyed touring the gardens. The breakfast service was VERY nice - the best we have had in Portugal. The drive to the hotel was incredible. The air conditioner was barely adequate for a very warm evening.

This is a very special property. Upon check in, we were told the legend of Pedro and Innes, a tragic and romantic story that allegedly took place here. This set the tone for our exploration of this grand and historic accommodation. The public lounges are exquisite, and the library is full of old-world charm. The gardens are moody and extensive, well worth a stroll. We dined in both their restaurants, and the service and food were flawless. Our reason for visiting Coimbra was to see the historic university. And although the university is exceptional, this hotel stole the show!
