Ordinary but spacious

A very ordinary-looking motel located across from the very busy Carlsbad beach. The room was very large--a suite, really--but plain of decoration and with cranky, difficult-to-control air conditioning. If you are looking for beach access, it's fine, but Carlsbad Blvd has lots of traffic. Fortunately, the hotel has free parking

This property was in a perfect location, directly across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and 10 minute walk to the village. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Large rooms. Breakfast was fine. The usual hotel breakfast options. We had a great time at this hotel and Carlsbad. Will return.

When we arrived we were upgraded to a King room with a sleeper couch. The room smelled strongly of paint fumes, we had to move rooms. The two double beds were extremely small and uncomfortable as they slid off the springs.

Pro: proximity to the beach which is across the street. Disappointments: the property is dated and borderline run down. The bathroom was dismal, a toilet, a bathtub in a narrow 5x8 space where you need to close the door(that did not latch) before being able to sit on the throne , the cherry on top of this terrible layout is the bathroom sink that you find in the entryway right outside the bathroom door and first thing that jumpat you as you open the bedroom door. Very basic room with a fridge (you hear purring all night, a microwave, a tv and a coffee machine prominently displayed on one a side of the bathroom sink in the entryway. Beds are ok, pillows are somewhat ok. Parking is in stalls under the building for which you have to pay 19 dollars a day to park on the property. The swimming pool comprises the entirety of the central courtyard, around which are passages leading to the rooms. So the noise fromm the pool and from the guests walking about along the passages can be a nuisance. Breakfast is very basic. Front desk staff can be absent for periods of time and guests will find the door to the guest check-in area of the hotel closed!! No note indicating a return time or what to do in case of any need. Terrible and certainly not worth almost 300 dollars a night.

Hotel is really a tear down. Very dark, noisy wall air conditioners, no room service unless your stay is more than 3 days. ADA room but no ramps to walk the facility with multilevel stairs everywhere. Front desk friendly and helpful but just not worth the high price

The property manager seemed to be mean and tried to push us to follow some rules. We were sitting in the porch or common balcony and smoking at night time when no one was around specifically made sure to not disturb anyone and he suddenly came over and said thats a non smoking property which we did not realize and said sorry for that. But he was like pushing the chairs and taking the pillows we were sitting on and took the chairs and tried to re arrange and started repeating the same thing like it was in rules or something. Anyway, he could be more relaxed because its a vacation spot and people come there to be relaxed mood not to read every rule he has. Other than that bad experience. This property is close to beach Break fast is not bad Parking is not free, you need to find one on the street.

Gorgeous location. Across from one of Carlsbad’s gorgeous beaches. Walkable to lots of dining and shopping and of course the beach! Pretty view on the second floor balcony and a great breakfast. Parking is a little hard and costly at $20 per night but overall, clean rooms, nice amenities, very nice

Perfect location.

Perfectly located at the beach and near great restaurant and shopping options. The facility is somewhat outdated but clean and well-kept with friendly staff and better than average breakfast. Note that there is an elevator but also unavoidable steps, regardless of level. Great price!

Booked partial sea view room.Got one at the extreme end.And there were practically no sea view.Also no housekeeping for any of the 3 days.Property looks unkept and needs upgrade for sure.But the location is good. the view from deck is really nice

This property is great for beach time and family time in Carlsbad. The people who stay here seem to trend towards quiet and serene. The equipment rental is excellent and convenient. The breakfast deck is probably the best in its class, also the option to sit and eat take out or pizza with a lovely view is a highlight. The pool is warm! The staff are friendly and remember you from past trips! Very friendly and welcoming.
