Great staff super nice and helpful. Room design weird with walls on 3 sides of the bed. Nice elegant room at first glance then you realize the sink counter was holding on by a thread, Window was sealed with office tape, and shower door did not close all the way so water got all over. Walls are extremely thin, first night could hear people talking through walls, second night was woken up multiple times to people partaking in intense “adult activities” next door. Not worth the expensive price.

We enjoyed our stay! This was the friendliest hotel staff I’ve ever come across; everyone was so kind and helpful. The room was clean and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. I didn’t love the parking situation (you have to park in a lot or garage nearby and walk your stuff down the street) but it’s not the hotel’s fault that they are located in a pedestrian-only area. Perfect for a touristy stay in Salem!

Room was really cold. Employee said the only way to remedy was to bring up space heaters to our room since hotel had already turned on air conditioning for the season.

I had a king suite. It was roomy with high ceilings. The bathroom was nice and everything was recently remodeled. This is a much older building right in the heart of all the witchy, touristy stuff that you are there to see, and just blocks from the Peabody. It wasnt perfect, but it was great, really cute decor, staff were nice, I have no complaints.

Pros & Cons

Hotel Salem offers an average stay. The photos make the rooms seem like they have a boutique-level attention to design detail, but I thought they were strangely converted warehouse-type rooms. Pros: bed and pillows were comfortable, great natural daylight, beautiful shower tiles, filtered water fill stations, and a friendly and diverse work staff. It was also easy to find street parking in April (hotel does not offer on site parking). Con’s: bathroom and wash closet have swinging doors that don’t offer max privacy, no chain locks on doors (only deadbolt), no bedside table lamps (had to turn off all lights before getting in bed), and worn furniture pieces. We were also disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed all 4 nights of our stay. The coffee in the morning is served in to-go cups but there are no lids available. The hotel is also challenging to find in the center of a square where there is no street side visibility. They also do not have a partnership with a nearby gym for discounted day rates. Overall, the stay was decent given the comfort of the bed and the kind staff. Just wish the rooms felt more homey and less like poorly converted spaces.

The staff was fantastic. The room was much larger than I expected too. I would highly recommend. I travelled by train but I imagine bc the hotel is on the pedestrian walkway having a car would be more difficult, but having a car to park in Salem is difficult in general.

We booked a room with a king-sized bed and were not disappointed! The room was huge with everything you could need for your stay. Just outside our room was a filtered water dispenser which was very convenient as I'm a big water bottle person. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, answering all our questions with a smile.

We enjoyed our one night stay! The room was very clean and comfortable and loved that there was a twin size trundle bed for our 10 year old. Staff is very nice and helpful. We were on 2nd floor and there was a-lot of noise from room above, heavy foot steps, etc but it was only briefly. Probably to be expected since it is an old building. Otherwise we loved the hotel and a perfect location in Salem.

Great location. Stayed 1 night in February. Water was not hot or even very warm. Staff person tried to fix and could not, so we were moved next door to similar room. At night it was in the 20s outside and when we turned the heat on and the 2nd floor part of the room got stifling hot and the bottom floor didn’t warm up enough. Also, the shower had trouble staying hot for 2 showers. Other than that the room was very spacious and clean, and location was central to everything we wanted to see.
