We arrived at the Best Western Hotel City Ost only to discover the hotel was closed. Apparently it had been closed for several months. We were NEVER notified, how can this be possible? I am blind and I rely upon Orbitz to provide me with accurate information so I can travel safely. I Eventually I was able to contact another BEst Western and they found a transferred reservation. This should NEVER have happened. Luckily I am an experienced traveler; I am also very resourceful. I can only imagine the panic and anxiety, and trauma such circumstances would provoke in most blind or otherwise handicapped tourists. In my opinion, this was a failure on the part of Orbitz, someone in your organization should have known the property was closed. I had to track down the reservation, and pay additional transportation costs in order to arrive at the Best Western Hotel in Der Mitte. This is entirely unacceptable; you MUST be more thorough when listing hotels: no one should arrive at a hotel with a confirmed paid reservation only to find the doors shuttered, no staff, and no information.
The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly and speaks good English. We walked and rode bikes into Alexander Platz, both are easy even if you are not that active (level flat ground everywhere). We usually do our own tours and research to save time and money. We were to knock out all of our sites in one day walking with a short train ride back at the end of the day. Rent the bikes from the hotel if you have no cell service, they're the same ones ou see around the city.
Lovely hotel with very helpful staff, U-bahn right outside the hotel door with so many restaurants and places to discover in the area behind the hotel Would totally recommend for tourists visiting Berlin.
Great hotel in quiet neighborhood! 10 steps from U-Ban station that is 5 stations from Alexanderplatz. Also 1 station from a S train station that connects to both airports. Within 10 minutes walk across the street there is an restaurant and pubs area. There is a big supermarket next door to the right and a pretty good bakery 100 meters to the left. The stuff was great and the standard room we got was renovated, but a bit small. Wireless internet wasn't received on my iPhone but there were 2 computers with complimentary internet in the lobby. Recommended!!!
Nothing out of the ordinary. The room was small. Wi-fi was really bad at night and made it impossible to navigate. I would only recommend it based on its location.
