This place made me feel sad and unwanted. The general manager was excellent to us but the restaurant manager clearly didn’t want us there and neither did his staff, who was mysteriously gone as soon as dinner started. At 5pm. On Father’s Day. The Father’s Day special was expensive. The appetizers were pretty but completely flavorless. The entrees were not bad but hard to enjoy with the atmosphere. I think this is the first time in my life I’ve ever had to force myself to eat. The gardens around the building were once beautiful but clearly neglected. We found an abandoned beer glass outside with drink residue and dead maggots inside and a film of weather filth on the outside sitting on one of the garden tables out back. The mattress was actually comfortable but the room stayed hot because the air wouldn’t flow through the room.

it’s not my first time here, we come annually for a forces mental health charity called talking2minds. Never have an issue with the room to staff always friendly and the food I’ve always found to be excellent. You certainly can’t fault the buffet style breakfast.

This was a lovely hotel in almost every respect. Unfortunately, the level of noise insulation between the room I was in and its neighbours appeared to be extremely low.

Lovely establishment that gives that rural villa charm. The hotel had amble parking space and the room and the bathroom were spacious and clean. A set back to experience was that the initial room assigned to me had an issue with the keycard lock, and I had to walk back and forth 3 times to the front desk (which wasn't exactly close) to finally getting it resolved by assigning me a different room. The staff was overall friendly but I felt perhaps something different could be done to reduce the amount of frustration.

A stunning hotel with a lot of charm and character. Quiet and peaceful. Located about out the way but staff were wonderful and friendly. Nothing was too much if you asked them for anything. A wonderful place to stop. Every meal was lovely and I would recommend the food from the stone and ivy to anyone.

Third time I have stayed here by far the worst ,firstly price very reasonable however room was tired wallpaper peeling furniture particularly the chair tatty, the shower was a danger hazard as the temperature control did not work correctly. On the positive side the building is lovely and superb parking.

A beautiful historic building. Staff lovely

A beautiful historic mansion that needs a little attention. I had a good rate of £68 but wouldn’t want to pay any more for the room I got. Decor is old fashioned. Rooms well worn but had everything I needed. Shower lovely and hot but cubicle fallen apart. All this said I would stay again as it’s close to an account I visit. Staff were lovely I must add.

The pluses. The staff were friendly, plenty of parking the room was clean as was the bathroom. The food quality was excellent. The room was generally quite. Although not a dog owner you couldn't tell the room had previously had dogs in it, due to no sign of doig hair, except for one thing (see the negatives). Easy to get to. The minuses. We weren't told or asked when we booked in if we were there for the Abba night or not. Our room was next to the event hall and so with the disco not ending before midnight we couldn't have settled down before then. (luckily we'd been to see a show in Leicester that evening and so didn't get back until around 11:30pm). I know there were rooms on the opposite side of the hall and it would have been good if we'd been allocated one of those. There was an odour of dog in the room, I didn't notice, my partner did. The reason for giving the hotel a poor rating is that when I got home and was looking at possibly booking the hotel again, as despite the issues we enjoyed tthe stay, I discovered that we had not been allocated the room I had booked in July last year. My booking, through Expedia, clearly states "Standard Room, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking". I have checked everything and it all states that. We were allocated "Standard Room, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking (Small)", which is smaller that a Standard room and should have been cheaper. In essence we were downgraded without any reason given. Perhaps the hotel was over subscribed? Not good My big
