October is LGBTQ History Month and to celebrate, Orbitz teamed up with travel aficionado couple Allie and Sam to show us what makes Miami, one of their favorite vacation destinations, so special. Allie and Sam are a married, femme lesbian duo who share their life, LGBTQIA issues, travel adventures and journey to motherhood on their social channels. If the onset of fall/winter already has you daydreaming about Miami’s beach views and a cafe cubano, read on for a behind-the-scenes tour in their own words and don’t forget to follow @allieandsam.

Eden Roc Miami Beach

Get ready to feel super fancy at the Eden Roc hotel. This is the perfect spot to stay. Only steps from the beach, you can spend the day dipping your toes in the waves, working on your tan by one of the many pools, or ordering room service breakfast to enjoy on your balcony We absolutely loved staying here!

Miami Beach

We love running (or walking) along Miami Beach. It’s also the perfect place to plan a beach day.

ALL DAY coffee shop

We don’t know about you, but our travel days NEED to start with caffeine. If you’re looking for really, really good coffee, lattes and pastries, All Day  is a must.

Wynwood Art District

Get your cameras ready for this walk! Wynwood Art District is a colorful neighborhood filled with murals, street art and graffiti. With over 70 galleries and museums to browse around, you could truly spend all day here! We love grabbing coffee and stopping at all the fun murals to take photos.

Vicky’s House: Coconut Grove

Ice cream lovers, prepare yourselves. We’re still thinking about the milkshake we had at Vicky’s. (We shared the “E.T. Goes To The Movies to watch The Goonies.”) This milkshake bar and tasting room will transport you back to the ’80s and is inspired by the owner’s childhood home—so cool! They also serve Cuban coffee, if ice cream isn’t your thing.

Biscayne Bay

Taking a boat cruise on Biscayne Bay and looking at the mansions is our favorite activity in Miami! There’s nothing like sailing along the waters, cruising by all the fancy homes, and sipping on some rosé at sunset. It’s the perfect activity to relax and get a totally unique view of Miami

Holi Vegan Kitchen

Get ready to have the best lunch ever that could fool any meat-eater. We’re both vegetarian, so we love hitting up spots like Holi where we can eat everything on the menu. This is a must-stop spot for any other plantbased travelers out there! I wish we could have ordered one of everything on the menu

The Ritz-Carlton

Miami can be busy—there’s so much to see and do. So, we took some time to relax with massages at the Ritz-Carlton’s spa in Coconut Grove. After you’re super relaxed, why not stay and eat at Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden (it’s so cute and so delicious!) and grab a drink at the Commodore cocktail bar and listen to the live music.

No 3 Social

Whether you’re in Miami with a partner, friends or by yourself, No 3 Social is a huge must for any cocktail lover. The rooftop bar’s atmosphere is colorful yet cozy, and their specialty cocktails are truly so unique and delicious. It’s the perfect way to say “cheers” at the end of a busy day.

Palace

A drag show at Palace on South Beach is a must-see. You’ll be laughing until you cry! We loved going for dinner, too.

LGBT Visitor Center on Miami Beach

The Miami LGBT Visitor Center is also a must-stop spot to see what LGBTQ+ events (like art shows, film screenings or Pride events) are on when you’re in the city!
