Lake George, New York

Lake George is a town in the Adirondacks, located on—you guessed it—a lake named George! More specifically, it’s a lake with royal blue water lined with beautiful trees. That paired with the landscape of the changing leaves is like a crunchy, brightly colored dream. Where do we sign up? Nestle in at the Lake George Escape, a 178-acre RV resort with direct access to the Schroon River. RVers can also head on up to see the 47th annual Adirondack Balloon Festival (Sept 19–22) with high flying foliage views or the Harvest Festival at Gore Mountain (Oct 12–13), where you can take a gondola ride above the trees. (Basically giving you endless opportunities to get some epic leaf shots!)

Anchorage, Alaska

Alaska

If you’ve never ventured into Alaska, this is your chance to experience all the colors come fall! Chugach State Park is a great place to start an RV trip in and around Anchorage. Come fall, the park’s vibrant colors spread across 9,000 square miles of vast wilderness. The season offers the perfect temperatures for exploring the mountainsides that are filled with every hue you can imagine. Popular hikes include Flattop Mountain, a mild hike with city views, and Thunderbird Falls, featuring a stunning 200-foot waterfall. There are campgrounds and RV Parks throughout the area, leaving ample opportunities to explore. Hey, if you’re lucky you may even spot some wildlife through the falling leaves.

Casper, Wyoming

Wyoming, autumn

If Wyoming doesn’t sound like a perfect place to peep some scenic leaves, we’re not sure what does. Located on the Road to Yellowstone, Casper sits along a route known as “Park to Park.” It travels between Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Sounds like a good place to get the RV party started, no?  Casper is Wyoming’s second-largest city situated at the bottom of Casper Mountain, an 8,130-foot mountain that overlooks central Wyoming. To view fall foliage flawlessness, travel up Casper Mountain to see this untouched landscape. There are multiple RV campgrounds in and around Casper, as well as non-electric campsites open to RVers. For timing, leaves typically pop from late September through mid-October.

Bastrop, Texas

Head south 45 minutes from Austin to the charming town of Bastrop to experience a warmer fall RV adventure. Leaves typically begin changing at the end of October, allowing plenty of time to plan your RV trip. Bastrop is located off the banks of the Colorado River; so don’t forget your canoe to check out the scenic bejeweled trees from the river. It’s also the perfect destination to get a feel for everything Texas, like the world-famous BBQ you can get at the gas station featured in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Or maybe just pass it in your RV? Park your RV in the six-acre Bastrop State Park and enjoy all of the splendors that a warm fall has to offer while listening to bluegrass music. Hey, when in Texas…

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga, Tennessee

You can see seven, yes seven states from the top of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, including Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky. That’s a lot of leaf peeping action! To get to the top, begin your trek in the town of Rock City. Pass by incredible rock formations, caves, flowers and a 200-foot-long suspension bridge that gives you the best views of Chattanooga Valley. Daredevils can also take a thrilling ride up the world’s steepest passenger railway, Incline Railway, which transports you through and around the mountain. Plan your RV trip for mid to late October, when the leaves are at their peak brilliance.
