P is for Pie Bake Shop: Orlando, FL

This small-batch Orlando bakery serves up pies in every form imaginable, including whole pies to mason jar pies to pie pops to individual cuties to whoopies and more. The offerings change with the seasons, from Triple Berry and Key Lime in summer to Salted Caramel Apple and Bourbon Chocolate Pecan for the holidays. There are savory options, too.

The Pie Hole: Los Angeles, CA

Open up your mouth hole to devour these desserts as they change with the seasons; winter offerings include Pear Cranberry Crumble and Mexican Chocolate. The LA spot offers plenty of savory options, too, like Chorizo Breakfast Hand Pie and Chicken ‘n’ Cornbread Pie. This place takes its java nearly as seriously as its desserts, so be sure to wash yours down with a cup of Pie Hole Blend coffee.

Emporium Pies: Dallas, TX

The pie names at this Dallas spot are as fun to say as they are to eat: Drop Dead Gorgeous (pumpkin custard on gingerbread crust), Smooth Operator (French silk custard on pretzel crust), Lord of the Pies (apple with cinnamon streusel)… and the list goes on. The bakery has three Dallas-area locations, including one that opened in September 2016 in the burgeoning foodie scene of the Deep Ellum neighborhood.

Four & Twenty Blackbirds: Brooklyn, NY

Food trends come and go all the time in the Big Apple (cronut, anyone?), but the pies at this popular spot with locations in Brooklyn, Orient Village and even inside the Brooklyn Public Library always satisfy. (Go ahead. Check out War and Peace. There’s pie.) The bakery gets props for inventive offerings like Chocolate Julep, Salty Honey and Cranberry Sage. Can’t decide? Grab a few ready-to-bake frozen crusts and a copy of the Four & Twenty Blackbirds Pie Book, and try some recipes at home.

Hoosier Mama Pie Company: Chicago, IL

Deep dish pizza ain’t the only Windy City pie that deserves respect. This retro, diner-style bake shop puts a modern touch on comfort food, with sweet and savory offerings like Sour Cream Dutch Pear, Zucchini Goat Quiche and Red Line Espresso—a nod to the city’s public transportation system.
