If you’re looking for a fuss-free vacation, a cruise to Bermuda could be your answer—especially if you live in the Northeast. Located off the coast of the Carolinas, Bermuda is close, convenient and (contrary to what it may seem) truly unique. Sure, it offers all the hallmarks of an island paradise, but it’s got so much more than that too, including these 7 things…

1. Pink beaches

Two words: pink sand. (PINK!) Crushed fragments ofshellsand invertebrates give the sand its blush hue, creating some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world.

2. Hamilton (the town, not the musical)

This is a must-see destination, regardless of where your ship is docking. Hamilton is the island’s capital and it’s jam-packed with things to do – day and night. Shopping, sightseeing, and golfing abound and, on Wednesdays after 6 pm, Front Street is closed to traffic for a party.

3. A UNESCO World Heritage Site

The colonial town of St. George is as quaint as it gets. Its narrow roads still retain their original names–like Aunt Peggy’s Lane and Printers Alley—and its well-maintained historic buildings are all various pastel shades. It’s basically like stepping back in time to 1612, when the town was founded.

4. Ghostly shipwrecks

The Bermuda Triangle is real people! And, on a shore excursion, you can discover it for yourself (if you don’t get scared and back out). Doomed steamers, luxury liners, and frigates litter the ocean floor, which you’ll be able to see through a glass-bottom boat.

5. Seriously delicious drinks

This is one island nation with its priorities in check, playing host to not one, but TWO national drinks: the Dark ‘n’ Stormy and the Rum Swizzle. As you might expect, both rely on the powerful flavor of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, which has been made on the island for over 200years.

6. Spectacular caves

Think the island’s pretty above ground? Just wait until you see what’s below. Bermuda touts somewhere between 110 and 200 limestone caves, the most famous of which are the Crystal Caves. Plummeting roughly 120 feet below sea level, they’re home to dramatic formations and a crystal-clear, ocean-fed lake.

7. Super nice locals

If you haven’t already heard, Bermudians are uncommonly nice. And they’re sometimes called onions (which stems from the 19th century when onions were one of the island’s main exports). At any rate, they say hi to tourists all. the. time. So, if you go, be prepared to say it back.
