Orbitz guest blogger Corey Feldman knows hotels. From his travels as an actor (Goonies, Stand By Me and Lost Boys) to his more recent tours with his band Corey’s Angels, Feldman’s a connoisseur of mini shampoos, mini bars and oversized double-down pillows. Feldman and his “Angels,” Amy and Courtney (a.k.a. DJAC), recently visited one of Chicago’s newest, most buzzed about hotels, the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Here, Feldman relays via text message some highlights from his birthday-weekend stay at the revamped 19th-century Chicago sports club, from its thoughtfully designed rooms to its game room and rooftop craft cocktail bar complete with views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan.

1. After check in, Feldman and crew took a minute on their way to their suite to appreciate the original, old-school sports club details that remain from the hotel’s former incarnation. The repurposed wood with CAA logo once served as the athletic club’s fencing court floor.

3. The suite left him plenty of room to stretch out and kick back…like a gangsta.

4. After check-in, the trio did a radio spot with Chicago DJ Mancow Mueller. On the show, Feldman announced that Goonies 2 will be happening and that Spielberg will be involved.

8. Later, Feldman and friends regrouped and made a grand exit for a night on the town. Their weekend included stops at Fort Knox recording studio, where Feldman would record while in town, plus The Underground nightclub and his favorite Chicago night spot, Studio Paris Nightclub.

9. A long-time vegetarian, Feldman surprised a few people by also making a stop at RPM Steak, sister restaurant to RPM Italian. “Yes…..steak but for my vegetarian palate they had great options for me.” The restaurant’s co-owner, former E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic, even stopped by his table to say hello. The next morning, an early lunch was in order. The hotel complex includes a Shack Shack on the first floor, where nobody has ever regretted ordering a peanut butter shake.

10. By the end of his stay, Feldman felt ready to give the new Chicago Athletic Association Hotel top ratings, for service and for amenities, not to mention “class and elegance.”
