The new Cosmopolitan features unique private terraces with sweeping views of the Vegas Strip and skyline.

By Nina Kokotas Hahn

Tonight, the brand-new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas opens its doors with a grand opening celebration that includes a performance from The Killers frontman,  Brandon Flowers. Earlier this fall, I had a chance to tour the Cosmopolitan –touted as the biggest-casino resort to hit the Vegas Strip in some time — and I’ve since been obsessing about my next Las Vegas vacation. Here’s what I can tell you first-hand: the Cosmopolitan is incredible and truly special compared to so many other Las Vegas hotels.

For starters, it’s the only Las Vegas hotel to feature one-of-a-kind private terraces with sweeping views of the Strip and Vegas skyline. It’s stylish, oversized rooms feature residential-style living spaces that give off an airy, urban, totally sophisticated vibe. The 50-story Cosmopolitan also rests on a relatively small footprint — just 8.7 acres — but the horizontal limitations work to its advantage. If you’re like me and you prefer smart design and order to the overwhelming sprawl of the more giant-sized resorts, you’ll appreciate every inch of the Cosmopolitan, which pulls off an impressively grand, yet boutique-style resort.

When it comes to Las Vegas vacations, there’s loads more to love about the Cosmopolitan, including it’s location at the center of the Strip and edge of CityCenter, it’s diverse dining experiences, the digital art throughout from prominent LED artists,  three pools, and luxurious rooms chock full of high-tech amenities like modern control panels and entertainment systems.

Here are a couple more standouts in my mind that deserve special mention:

  • The Chandelier is a super swanky bar that houses three unique experiences, each tied to the three tiers of the surrounding Chandelier structure enclosing the bar. Seriously folks, you haven’t seen Vegas until you’ve seen this breathtaking, three-story bar enveloped by beaded strands of Swarovski crystal. Take your pick and visit one of three levels to experience a high-energy casino scene, sophisticated cocktail bar or the top-of-the-Chandelier lounge scene.
  • The multi-level Boulevard pool deck literally sits atop the strip by a few stories with unobstructed views in every direction. In a matter of minutes, the deck can be transformed into a stage featuring hot performances from bands like the Black Keys (Feb. 19 and 20). The Boulevard is above the Strip fray but close enough to make for a vibrant social scene, plus I’ve heard rumor some concerts may be simultaneously broadcast on the Cosmopolitan’s 65’ marquee screen just above the Strip.
  • Terrace rooms offer the best pre-party scenery for any Vegas getaway. Take in panoramic views of the skyline, Strip and neighboring properties like the Bellagio, from the comfort of your own spacious terrace. Suites offer uber cool, luxurious bathrooms with Japanese soaking tubs that also peer over the Vegas skyline.

I can’t wait to return with friends for a stay at The Cosmopolitan — we’re hoping for a Terrace suite overlooking the Boulevard Pool deck, where we might catch a favorite performer (so sad to miss Brandon Flowers).

If you’re looking for a unique way to take in the sights and sounds of Vegas, check out the newest big player in Vegas. The Cosmopolitan doesn’t disappoint and offers something never before seen in Vegas.

Insider tip: Book your Las Vegas vacation at the Cosmopolitan now for your pick of rooms before the words get out. Check the hotel’s concert line-up and sync up your trip for an action-packed experience at the Cosmopolitan.
