LOCATION: Hotel Swiss Night by Fassbind is located in a residential area not far from Kunsthaus Zurich. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from either the tram or bus stop Kunsthaus. You can take bus 31 from the main train station to this stop. Look for red cow by the front door. HOTEL/CHECK-IN: This small hotel is undergoing a major renovation. Only a small number of rooms are available for a stay. The small lobby has a very Swiss branded feel. As far as I know, the hotel currently doesn't have a restaurant or bar, but does serve breakfast. Because of the small number of guests and lateness of my arrival, check-in was quick. ROOM: The room was a good size, with plenty of storage and a modern bathroom. It did have a bit of a musty smell when I would leave for a while and come back. The bed was comfortable and the room for the most part quiet. It was equipped with a mini bar, kettle, AC and many lighting options. A couple of English speaking channels were available on the TV and the Wifi worked well. I also liked that the room had a good size desk. I didn't care for the white reusable plastic cup in the bathroom. I would have preferred a throwaway plastic cup instead. BREAKFAST: This was an additional 20 CHF, I didn't opt for it. STAFF/SERVICE: This was one of the areas I found the hotel lacking. While the staff was helpful, I didn't find them very friendly or professional. Dirty cups were left in my room and used toiletries weren't replenished. CONCLUSION: By Zurich prices this hotel isn't bad. The location wasn't as vibrant as other areas of Zurich I've stayed in and I didn't find this Swiss Nights Hotel as nice as the one I stayed at in Lausanne. Perhaps when all the renovations are finished, this hotel will be on par with that one. A work in progress.
We stayed for a city break and while it was unfortunately mid-refurbishment (which was not mentioned at the time of booking) our room was great. Not rating it higher than '3' though because it was a building site. Nice location, literally two minute walk from Kunsthaus tram stop. Zurich is a great city, but boy bring your wallet - it's EXPENSIVE!
Three stops from the centre of Zurich but in a quiet safe suburb this is a really nice place. Lovely room. Recommeended by me. It is being renovated so will be even better soon. We will be back. The museum just minutes away has wonderful art
Zurich is known for being an expensive city. This also applies to hotels. If you are in Yurich for a couple of days I recommend to stay at Hotel Swiss. Personal: 4 stars Cleanliness: 3 starts Rooms: 3 Stars Breakfast: 3 starts Location: 4 stars Positive aspects: location is really good and conveniently close to the tram, restaurants, museums and the city center in general. The prices, compared to Zurich, are fair. Negative aspects: cleanliness is an issue. The lift smells bad, the bedroom´s floor was nice properly cleaned, bed was not very comfortable and Breakfast was ok. If you stay 2 - 3 days is a good deal. For longer I would suggest another hotel.
This is a newly remodeled little hotel at walking distance of the city center. The very quiet surroundings is definitely a plus as well as the good sized rooms. Breakfast is impeccable and staff extremely friendly. I chose it to be the place to stay when coming to Zurich. Excelente price benefit ratio.
I had asked for a quiet room and got a room on the top floor .Carpeted floors mean noise is greatly reduced so I slept well the two nights. My double room was spacious and comfy with minibar and kettle with tea/ coffee etc. There was even an iron with a board! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom lovely and bright. The TV has many channels including some of the excellent BBC radio channels. The lift is minuscule so you can only share it with a good friend! Breakfast was far too expensive for such a basic hotel,so I preferred to go out to one of the many cafes in town. The hotel is located in a quiet, leafy suburb two steps from the old town and the lake,so perfect for a short stay where you don't want to be fiddling around with buses and trams.
been at this hotel since Monday. At first I thought it would be a bightmare because there is major construction happening outside but inside the hotel is clean the room is very big, shower has great pressure. hotel has breakfast which is not bad for the size hotel. nice small buffet. Excellent location close to everything downtown.
All the charm , coziness , old style elegance , nice welcoming type restaurant with great charm warm atmosphere and homy food destroyed in few month by ruthless greedy new owners. Same go for rooms looking like cheap cold clinic
This hotel is located off a quiet residential street off of a busy street and is surprisingly quiet. We booked a room for two but got a large room with four beds. The building is older and therefore the walls, paint, etc also had the older feel. Borderline grungy but more on the clean side. The bathroom had black mold growing on the walls around the window and you could tell that area had not been cleaned in a long time. We ended up catching a cold the day we left, but not sure we can blame that on the room. We had to leave before breakfast was served (not included in the room price but we took the option when booking) and they were nice enough to let us eat around 6am, as they were pretty much set up. Zurich is really expensive so the price seemed more than the room was worth, but the stay was overall okay.
I choose the hotel due the location that is quite near the city center (but not in the middle). Overall the hotel is ok: good location, comfortable room and gentle attendants. On the other hand the installations are quite old, the parking lot is open and difficult for big cars, the lift is really tied. Important to consider that the room is not cleaned every day.
