Hotel Kolovare4.0 out of 5.0

It’s ok for a one nite layover. Renovation was ongoing while we were there which is probably much needed. Breakfast was rudimentary and there was only one lift so gets chaotic when large tour group shows up.
Hotel is in a good location. Near the sea. Room needs an upgrade which they are doing now. Slept in a bed that makes squeaky sound. Breakfast spread is simple. Nice lobby area. Would be able to get a good view Do not think it is a 4 star. Probably a 3.
We only stayed at the Hotel Kolovare for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was great to have free parking as we always travel by rental car. We thought it was a great location with a pleasant walk into the old town. We had a corner suite with views of the ocean as well as the pool so we were very happy. We would have stayed longer however we only had one night for Zadar but we would definitely return.
Hotel is located about 15 mins walk to the old town, 10 mins walk to the nearest super market and McDonalds. Lobby area is grand, nice pool, near the beach. However the room designs are quite dated and quite cramped. Unsuitable to have big luggages. There wasn't sufficient space to open up a 28" luggage in the room. Bathroom was great with good water pressure and hot water except for the tall bathtub/shower, which may be inconvenient for the elderly...Overall, this hotel is good for location, bad for tiny room size.
Stayed here for one night on a tour of Croatia. The room was pleasant with a view over the swimming pool. Only strange thing was that the sliding door to the wardrobe was also the door to the bathroom. Breakfast was a shambles. It was hard to find a table. In fact we had to wait until someone finished and then cleared the table up ourselves as there were so few staff to do it. The staff themselves were very unenthusiastic and slow. The extensive offering was spoiled by some very strange tasting orange juice for which we had to wait for glasses and also by the fact that a lot of the dishes were empty. It was being replenished by the time we were ready to leave, which is not much use. I was tempted to mark the hotel down to a poor because of that but the room and pool just about saved it.
From my point of view the hotel has a almost perfect location; it's by the sea and not far away from the old town. The room was nice and clean and I especially liked the soft light in the bathroom; it was perfect in the morning when you've just woken up and don't want bright light into your retina :D The breakfast and dinner buffets had plenty to choose from but at least in the busy dinnertime it seemed that the restaurant was lacking staff; it was really hard to order drinks when there was a full house of customers. The restaurant needs an update; it looked little bit tired. The pool area was nice and just across the road there is a lovely beach. I would have used some kind of swimming shoes because the sea bottom was full of quite large stones and the beach is made of pebbles. I would stay in this hotel again.
The hotel was great. The outdoor pool is very clean, with many many chairs around the poolside. Room was good. Beautiful 8 block walk, along the sea, to Old Town. Felt very safe day or night. There is so much to do in Zadar and 3 nights was not enough.
Hotel Kolovare is situated directly at Kolovare beach, the beach near Zadar old town.Still, it is easy to reach by plane, train, bus or car. Train station and central bus stop are in walking distance, as is Zadar old town. The house is not new, but things are well kept, people are very friendly, the rooms are comparably big and clean. Pool area is clean and good kept as well, the prices at the bar are very reasonable. The hotel is large, thus groups will appear but we were never bothered by that. Breakfast buffet is extensive, there will be something for every taste from fish to sweets.
Hotel is generally clean and tidy. Impressive marble entrance, but it all goes downhill as you get to the rooms. Rooms are very dated, bathroom falling apart, worlds noisiest fridge, no tea or coffee facilities and banned from making your own. Of all things though, avoid eating here. It's is terrible. The breakfast is poor at best but the evening meal was practically inedible. 3 star at best but I feel that would be generous. I have stayed in better 2 star hotels in the past.
Stayed here 1 night as part of a tour group. This hotel appears to cater to a large variety of guests. There were tour groups from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, members from the US Army, Pilots, etc. Hotel appears to be running at full capacity while I was there. However, this meant long waiting time for the lift as it seems there is only 1 lift serving this hotel. The hotel also had a weird way of labeling their rooms, for example rooms starting with 3XX is actually on the 2nd floor, those with 2XX is on the 1st floor. While the standard room I had felt small with outdated décor, everything in the room such as lights, TV, WIFI, shower, etc functioned well. TV had several international channels such as CNN. Room was clean too. Best part of the room was the aircon was working despite being in Autumn as most hotels in Europe tend to shut down their air conditioning system during this season. So this is great for travelers originating from the tropical region. My room had a balcony with partial sea view which was good. However, there was no kettle or any complementary coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast was below average and was rather chaotic due to many guests. Staff had trouble replenishing the food in time while guests had trouble finding an empty seat. There was a constant long queue at the single coffee dispensing machine. Overall, my stay was average and this hotel felt more like an International 3 Star hotel instead of 4 stars.
