From my point of view the hotel has a almost perfect location; it's by the sea and not far away from the old town. The room was nice and clean and I especially liked the soft light in the bathroom; it was perfect in the morning when you've just woken up and don't want bright light into your retina :D The breakfast and dinner buffets had plenty to choose from but at least in the busy dinnertime it seemed that the restaurant was lacking staff; it was really hard to order drinks when there was a full house of customers. The restaurant needs an update; it looked little bit tired. The pool area was nice and just across the road there is a lovely beach. I would have used some kind of swimming shoes because the sea bottom was full of quite large stones and the beach is made of pebbles. I would stay in this hotel again.

The hotel was great. The outdoor pool is very clean, with many many chairs around the poolside. Room was good. Beautiful 8 block walk, along the sea, to Old Town. Felt very safe day or night. There is so much to do in Zadar and 3 nights was not enough.

Hotel Kolovare is situated directly at Kolovare beach, the beach near Zadar old town.Still, it is easy to reach by plane, train, bus or car. Train station and central bus stop are in walking distance, as is Zadar old town. The house is not new, but things are well kept, people are very friendly, the rooms are comparably big and clean. Pool area is clean and good kept as well, the prices at the bar are very reasonable. The hotel is large, thus groups will appear but we were never bothered by that. Breakfast buffet is extensive, there will be something for every taste from fish to sweets.

Hotel is generally clean and tidy. Impressive marble entrance, but it all goes downhill as you get to the rooms. Rooms are very dated, bathroom falling apart, worlds noisiest fridge, no tea or coffee facilities and banned from making your own. Of all things though, avoid eating here. It's is terrible. The breakfast is poor at best but the evening meal was practically inedible. 3 star at best but I feel that would be generous. I have stayed in better 2 star hotels in the past.

Stayed here 1 night as part of a tour group. This hotel appears to cater to a large variety of guests. There were tour groups from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, members from the US Army, Pilots, etc. Hotel appears to be running at full capacity while I was there. However, this meant long waiting time for the lift as it seems there is only 1 lift serving this hotel. The hotel also had a weird way of labeling their rooms, for example rooms starting with 3XX is actually on the 2nd floor, those with 2XX is on the 1st floor. While the standard room I had felt small with outdated décor, everything in the room such as lights, TV, WIFI, shower, etc functioned well. TV had several international channels such as CNN. Room was clean too. Best part of the room was the aircon was working despite being in Autumn as most hotels in Europe tend to shut down their air conditioning system during this season. So this is great for travelers originating from the tropical region. My room had a balcony with partial sea view which was good. However, there was no kettle or any complementary coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Breakfast was below average and was rather chaotic due to many guests. Staff had trouble replenishing the food in time while guests had trouble finding an empty seat. There was a constant long queue at the single coffee dispensing machine. Overall, my stay was average and this hotel felt more like an International 3 Star hotel instead of 4 stars.

The positives about the hotel are largely its location within a short walk of the old city and proximity to restaurants but this does not make up for the negatives. The staff are arrogant and rude and have obviously never been tutored in dealing with customers. When complaining that the assigned room smelt of tobacco smoke we were told it was not possible as smoking is not allowed in the rooms. Only after some further discussion was it agreed to provide an alternative room. There are no tea or coffee making facilities provided in the rooms nor was a hot drink provided after dinner. On asking if a kettle could be borrowed for the room the answer was that it was not allowed for safety reasons. Strange that hotels all over the world can provide such facilities without any danger arising. As we had our own tea bags we were told we could get hot water from the bar. Eventually the barman turned up and grudgingly provided enough water for 1.5 cups between the four of us. After more scowling he then gave us some more along with a small amount of milk. To our surprise he then presented a bill of the equivalent of nearly £2 for the milk. The breakfast/dining room is like a barn and trying to find anything from the breakfast buffet is complicated by the failure to have anything arranged logically. There is no way that this hotel merits its four star designation.

Excellent location, clean and services of a regular three stars hotel. Very overpriced for being Croatia. It should cost 40% less than what they charge, even if it's summer season. Breakfast is substandard and most of the staff unfriendly. Rooms are OK with air conditioning, but very small. Internet service is good and fast.

My issues are the following... 1. Tha Air-conditioning is limited... You can not lower it below 20c,. I went to the front desk, nothing was done. ,2. The TV has the sound limited, I was unable to hear it, I was told, it is kept that way, so it made the TV useless. The room I was in was newly renovated, that was the best part.

Stayed here just one night due to working near by. Hotel was ok nothing special but fine. Great being so close to the sea and ample parking Wifi was pointless and staff not very friendly Room had ac which was good but no kettle or fridge

The Kolovare hotel is pretty nice, It has a good appearance and seems to be fairly well kept if you don't look too closely at the details... Our first disappointment was that they advertise having safes in the room, but instead you have to give things you want kept safe to the staff who offer to lock it in their office.... This is a problem for me as I've had issues in the past when I travel and I prefer to have a safe to keep extra spending money and passports in. Another thing I found off/putting is that you are required to use the very expensive laundry service under threat that you will be kicked out of the hotel if you wash anything in your room. If i'm at a beach hotel in the heat of the summer, I'm going to be rinsing my clothes and hanging them on the balcony to dry. The supper buffet was Terrible!!! It's the same thing every night, all the meat is boiled and tasteless, the salads and cucumbers were overripe and yellow. You can't drink anything unless you order from the bar and they usually don't take your order until you're nearly finished. All that aside, it's not a bad place to stay, it's in a good location and there are 2 beaches within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
