The room was meant to be soundproof but could hear next door for starters, then we seen it wasn’t a king size bed but two single beds put together which wasn’t very comfortable to say the least. Also two of the rooms I’d say are used for permanent residence. Then passing pedestrians through the night was noisy was irritating to say the least. We couldn’t work the heating system for the room.

Great quiet location and a good nights sleep

This isnt a manned hotel.. Its comfortable clean rooms in an unoccupied house. That being said its secure warm and a great stay. Slept really well. The bathroom and shower where great. 10 min walk into town great quiet location. I had to contact owners as door code wasn't received. Call was answered quickly and help was brilliant

Comfortable, Clean and Convenient Stay

We had a fantastic stay at The Vanguard in York. Set in a residential area, it’s a well-located base just a 15–20 minute stroll from the city’s main attractions. The interior was spotless, modern and well-equipped. Self check-in was easy, and communication via WhatsApp was smooth and efficient. The manager was responsive and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay — including arranging parking (on-street or off-street) and a late check-out that made our final day much easier. Well-run, thoughtful and great value. We’d happily stay again.

The room was very nice. A couple of small things: 1- It would have been nice to know there was a flight of narrow stairs to get to room, 2- Bathroom sink is blocked by overhanging cabinets, toothbrushing very difficult, 3- bathroom door drifts open against the bed unless closed and then the bathroom is very hot.

A Perfect Stay in the Heart of York – The Vanguard Residence It truly doesn’t get any better than The Vanguard Residence. Perfectly situated in the heart of York, this gem offers everything you could ask for — with the city's historic landmarks, charming streets, restaurants, and bars all just a short walk away. The accommodation itself is outstanding. The bed was exceptionally comfortable — one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in any hotel. The room featured modern, tasteful decor and came fully equipped with air conditioning, a coffee maker, and a fridge, making it both stylish and practical. Attention to detail and high standards are evident throughout the property. On-site parking was a huge plus, especially in such a central location. Highly recommended for anyone visiting York — whether for a romantic getaway, a cultural trip, or a relaxing break, The Vanguard Residence is the perfect choice.

Lovely stay, the room was very clean and had coffee/tea facilities and a fridge. Water was hot and good pressure for a shower. Room was a little snug but it is fine for a night or two. 15 min walk to York and parking. Area seemed safe

Accommodation most certainly isn’t a hotel, at most it could be classed as student room in someone’s house and in a very unappealing area. Ridiculous check in having to wait for self check in key pad to work (and being told by host to wait outside in a very seedy area for 3 minutes whilst the lock resets itself) I most certainly will not return and will not recommend to anyone in fact would go as far as letting people know how bad it is and definitely well over priced. Can’t understand how you get away with selling it as you do the pictures you advertise certainly do not show the deprived area it is situated in.
