Look, I applaud (most of) the staff at this hotel, they were friendly and welcoming, except for the guy who chose the regular elevator over the service elevator to join me with his wheeled garbage dumpster. This place is just old. Wrinkled, stained carpets in the hallways, water stains on the peeling bathroom wallpaper, warped image on the TV in my room, stickers over the floor number buttons on the one small elevator... AC must've been turned off, because my room stayed at 24, despite the stat being set at 17, and had to close my window at 1045pm, due to the drunks literally screaming outside. DTYK is sliding downhill, and this place with it. Many better choices in the hub.
Clean hotel, very little light in rooms, natural or otherwise, portable air conditioner leaves window open and noise in the street outside loud at night. Many people sit in front of hotel on retaining wall when they can no longer stand. Asked for money every passing. Hotel itself has great staff, clean rooms, fridge, microwave + coffee in room. Great value if you plan on spending all your time exploring.
I stayed there for 3 days so I can catch the aurora and I did . The hotel is centrally located in the main drag and close to eateries . There are shops on the ground floor . We did not try the restaurant but the hotel is very busy if in the season . We wanted two rooms but only could get one as there are not too many hotels in town in peak seasons when travellers flooded the town . So early reservation a must and its too cold to stay outside !!
The hotel is in downtown, very convenient location and taxis are always available. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help. The rooms are clean and nice. Would definitely recommend it.
This is a very well located hotel, right downtown and within walking distance to just about everywhere. The room was clean and had a portable air conditioner which I really appreciated on a hot June night. I also really appreciated the room darkening curtains as it doesn't get dark in June. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
Everything you would hope for from the moment you walk in to the time you depart just a very memorable experience. Very Friendly, Gracious& extremely welcoming staff. This was our third stay at this hotel,it feel like home away from Home to us. Would happily return and stay again.
I had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The team is great and extremely welcoming. I loved it. Clean hotel, definitely value for money given Yellowknife. I will return again. Restaurant service and food was good. Rooms look good, freshly painted and clean. Bathrooms are sanitized.
During a recent visit to Yellowknife, I stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites. The location is great with shopping and restaurants close by. The attached mall was convenient for dining and additional shopping. I like that everything is so easy to get to from this hotel and they have a wonderful complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. The staff were friendly and answered all of my questions.
I booked 2 rooms side-by-side 5 months early to ensure I would get rooms close to each other. When we arrived, the following fiasco happened: -they had given away one of our rooms, and put the two rooms on 2 separate floors. When I complained they said they could get a room ready on the same floor within 30 minutes if we were willing to wait (it was 5.30pm). We had just driven 8 hours to get here, and were tired and hungry, but had to wait for our rooms to be ready! -Just as we were about to go upstairs, the front desk called me over and said there was a mistake...there was another couple currently using the room for which they'd already given me a room key, and they had to bump one of us off the same floor to put us - again - on two separate floors. I explained that I had booked 5 months early to specify two rooms on the same floor and this was unacceptable. -After talking to the manager for 20 minutes, they said they could give us two rooms on the same floor if one of the rooms was downgraded from what I had requested. I agreed to this. There was no discount on the downgraded room, so they did offer us a 20% discount on that room. Also note: the internet site says "Free Parking". This is a LIE. There is NO free parking in the area! All parking is on the street at meters (which are free on the weekend). Also note: the shower heads are best suited for people under 5 feet tall. Finally, the HVAC (heating & ventilation system) is inoperable and the heat was stuck on full blast and can't be controlled. We roasted in our rooms and finally had to open the (already broken) window to try and cool down. It was very poor quality for the price we paid, and we were frustrated that after booking over the phone 5 months early to get a specific request (which was booked and promised to us over the phone), they were unable to accommodate our request on arrival. We would never stay here again, nor will we recommend it to others.
This place used to be called Yellowknife Inn, it wasn't that good at the time prior to becoming the now "Quality Inn & Suites" as a franchise or a branch. This place needs a lot of upgrading from the time you get in to the lobby up to getting in the room. The hallway is so outdated and dirty. The doors, bathroom and carpeting are really old. I would compare this place to the cheapest place you could stay in Yellowknife. The receiving staff needs some training on how to handle guests in a speedy manner especially when reservations were already made ahead of time. I don't know what other staff does but there is only 1 person there. The staff are rude and not accommodating when making phone reservation. These people needs a lot of training especially when the establishment itself is not even a nice place to comfortably stay. The walls are paper thin, you could hear the next room. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place especially for tourists. There are lots of places to stay in Yellowknife that is comparable to almost a 5 star. For the price they ask, it's not worth staying. The price they ask is about the same amount or even cheaper compared to Explorer Hotel, Super 8, Days Inn and others...which has a better accommodation in terms of facilities and reception.
