The upgraded executive room is too small and it has very strong smell. They changed rooms but all room have it! I got rashes after one night! phone doesn't work and there are 3 pieces of tissues left.
Stayed here over the weekend with a group of friends - hotel has kindly arranged for all of us to be on the same floor and upgrades to the "deluxe" rooms (higher floor) and a suite (SPG PLAT) which were very much appreciated. The rooms, although showing a fair bit of wear and tear, are spacious with a comfortable bed and great bathroom amenities (Malin + Goetz) Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs is of good quality with reasonable spread, and the evening happy hour cum food offering in the lounge is great. Concierge staff at the hotel lobby could've been a bit more helpful (Eg they said we don't need to book the ferries to Gulangyu on Sunday as there won't be too many people but when we turned up on the day we were told we could've pre-booked tickets online and avoid waiting for the next available ferry, which was 2 hours away) One peculiar security arrangements currently in place at the hotel (perhaps due to the recent BRICS conference in Xiamen) is slightly inconvenient to guests and visitors - once you "checked out" from your room you are no longer considered a guest in the hotel and have to register at the front desk in order to access the guest floors. This created a bit of a trouble for our group as we had different room check out times. A highlight of the hotel are the club lounge staff - they were extremely polite and helpful, and I am particularly grateful that they were able to extend a late check out too all the 3 rooms given our late departure back home. The hotel is hidden on a hill, but reasonably close to the city centre and major attractions, will definitely look to return in the future!
This hotel was so relaxing & peaceful. Club lounge was amazing. Superb service. Shuttle service to and from main road complimentary. Short walk to bus stops. Sam's club near by. Would of loved to experience spa but it was closed. Will definitely be back!
So my boyfriend and I stayed at Le Meridien for three days in Xiamen. Upon arrival, we were greeted outside, by very friendly staff. The staff at the reception desk was very nice and helpful. They spoke enough English for us to understand and they were patient enough to work through the language differences. The lobby was extremely clean and smelled wonderful, it's the first thing I noticed. The dining buffet and bar are next to the lobby which is a nice convenience. The pool area is also on the same floor of the lobby. You need swimming caps. We were impressed by the cleanliness and the modernity of the entire area. We were greeted by more friendly staff who gave us fresh towels and locker keys. They separate the entrance to the pool by way of gender so I had to walk to the right and my boyfriend had to go to the left. As you walk, you go through a very nice and clean bathroom area with showers, toilets, dressing rooms, and even a sauna. I'd never seen quite a setup. We met again right outside that bathroom area. This time you're greeted by the big pool and off to the right, the hot tub section. All very nice and cozy. Our room was super clean and neat. We loved it as soon as we entered. All modern furniture. The shower heads were our favorite, very strong and powerful bursts of water. The view from the room was okay, nothing amazing. We only ate at the buffet. Breakfast was very good, lots of variety. The Western dishes were tasty (pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc). Our breakfast was included in the room package. Unfortunately we had to pay for dinner and we thought it was quite pricey. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the different dishes presented during dinner. They had a wide variety of dishes from different cultures. The bread was delicious. The overall highlight was the endless "all you can eat" Haagen Dazs ice cream!!!!!!! Unfortunately I waited too long to write this review and I can no longer remember any of the staff members' names. Shame on me! I'm so sorry. Just know that everyone was extremely nice and accommodating to me and my boyfriend and that made our stay wonderful.
Le Meridien Xiamen located in the only hill in the Xiamen downtown, means it brings the convenience and the only fresh air environment hotel in Xiamen island. Service are purely practiced the SPG rules, which is much better than I have experienced in USA. This is a hotel I would only considered when I arrive here.
check-in - front desk was not in situation, check bit long time for the available room and keep say need to ask someone else when we call to the help-desk. Room: I booked the hotel via Hotels.com , the website was called out the room with " 2 double beds", however, when I opened the room door, I realized it is only "twin beds", totally feel we are cheated!! Room is quite small but overall ok. Service : It's not match with its cost and SPG group quality at this hotel. Since we have 3 ppl stay in the hotel, but the toiletries and pillows were not enough, we ask them to replenish but the service was pretty slow.Besides, I didn't make any call from my room(except dial 0 to help-desk), but they want to charge me for some dollars, how could this ridiculous things happen (Of course I am not paying for that!! I didn't know if that is because the phone line interrupt issue because in the mid-night the phone was keep ringing without reasons, I also call for help-desk ask them solve, but they didn't want to do that for me only ask me unplug the phone......). Traffic: not in downtown, need take taxi all the time. Food/ Breakfast : ok, but it's pretty normal.. I don't think the food quality deserve it's price.... In conclusion, I will not recommend you make this hotel as your top choice if you are considering living in 5 stars hotel in Xiamen
Beautifully placed up in the hills, this is my choice to stay when in Xiamen. It's a very nice hotel. Plenty of the staff speak English. I had a problem with my room smelling like smoke at first (common problem in Asia), but they moved me until I was happy and sincerely apologized. They sent fruit and wine as a welcome gift.
Beautiful hotel situated on the mountain. Despite its location, a taxi to town is only a 10-15 min ride although sometimes need to wait a while for taxis to come up. The hotel is very well maintained with comfortable room and appreciated very much the Platinum suite upgrade. If there is anything I want to comment on the room, the lack of balcony chairs is the only negative part. Personally, I found the room facing the tennis court and mountain is better than those facing the waterfall as it provides better privacy. Guests hanging their clothes all over the balcony is rather unsightly if you have a room facing the garden/waterfall. Overall the staff are very friendly and you will be greeted almost anywhere you go, obvious that the management has put in a lot of effort in, well done! Breakfast is plentiful and the food in the Chinese Restaurant is above average although the portions of the noodle soup are very small, not even enough for a child. Service in the bar needs a lot of improvement and no one came to refill our wine during our 1.5 hrs there despite the place was not busy at all. Staff are more interested in checking their phone than serving the guests. Executive Lounge team is overall very friendly and Gary is a superstar there. He is most courteous, genuine and really works hard to please the guests and even recommended us to a local seafood restaurant just at the bottom of the mountain. They have to improve the menu cycle and the food is almost identical during our 5-night stay especially breakfast. Concierge knowledge requires improvement - we asked the Concierge to recommend a good Thai Restaurant but they had no idea at all. Overall, our stay was most comfortable and pleasant, and with the rate they charge, we have no hesitation to recommend this hotel at all.
The hotel is everything you'd expect from the Meridian chain of hotels - it is nice and smart. The staff are very helpful and attentive. The rooms are of a good size and if you are lucky enough to get a room facing the waterfall, it will make your stay complete. All the food was if very good standard and I would have no problem staying again the next time I am in Xiamen.
The Meridien is a real oasis in Xiamen, either for a leisure trip like ours or as a hub for business in the area. Beautiful and clean rooms, good food and friendly service. It all adds up to a great trip to Southern China.
