Staff all of them were overly courteous and a very positive and went out of the way to help. English is no barrier as today the phone does instant translation and was used frequently in the hotel and during our 3 night stay in Xiamen. Room and bathroom was very clean and staff responded to any of our requests so positively. The free breakfast was a mix of Western and Fujian food which we enjoyed thoroughly

Could have been so much better

I've stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses in China. It's generally a very good option in China. This one less so. Good things: Great location, Great housekeeping staff - our housekeeper was amazing, room was big & comfortable. Bad: staff poorly trained, breakfast was so-so, but was often unstaffed, and worst of all, the temperature control in the room doesn't work in the "winter" time. The hotel blasts heat into very room, and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Hot enough to roast a chicken. This is a problem unique to China, many hotels do this, but I thot HI Express would actually care about their customers, but I was wrong

Nice quick stay

Upon arrival the area appear slightly dirty as there was a smell of sewage as we got out of the cab. However we were greeted by the Hellboy who helped us immmediately with our cases. The check in process waa smooth though check out was a bit more tricky. They're at first unable to located my payment on here and had to reconfirm and canceled the new deposit on my credit card. All in all, the dtaff were very friendly and helpful.
