Kempinski Hotel Dalian

My 2nd stay in a Chinese Kempinski (the first one was in Sanya) and very much the same experience: good hotel but nothing like the Kempinski hotels in Europe! Very few staff speak english, room & bathroom ok, breakfast very chinese. I stayed on the executive floor but nobody explained me the benefits of the executive club. Most of the reception staff were trainies, very friendly but not very efficient.

This is a great deal. The hotel is pretty nice, without being overly precious and is half the price of nearby hotels that cater to westerners. There is a comical beerhouse downstairs, with live music and staff in lederhosen and dirndls. The buffet was good, just help yourself to coffee don’t wait for the waiter.

The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and luxurious. The breakfast buffet has nice Chinese and Western food options. However, the best feature for this hotel is the German Paulaner Brewery in the basement with live music 6 nights a week. The food and entertainment should not be missed. It is a particularly nice melding of the best of many cultures.

A luxury hotel that isn't too expensive. I really appreciated the bathroom, with both a nearly 2m long tub and a large walk in shower. Breakfast buffet choices clearly target the asian guests, with the continental breakfast being very limited. All I have tried there was very tasty though, either asian or continental. For the bacon lovers in here - it tends to be undercooked, but I think it's a more general Chinese preference, rather than anything specific to this hotel. Floors 10 and higher have a nice view on the park just across the road.

Very good size and quality of rooms, well cleaned and maintained. Free WiFi., very comfortable bed. Didn't use the restaurant but went downstairs to the micro brewery, drank good german style beer with wholesome food. Well worth a visit even if you don't stay here.

Stayed in this hotel for a week on a business trip. Hotel room decor and cleanliness was great. Breakfast had a wide variety. Staff were polite but not friendly. Wifi connection was weak in rooms. Stayed on the 21st floor on the other side of the building. (On right after entering through main entrance). Asked for a change of rooms, as requested for a non-smoking room, and went to my allocated room. It smelt like a I just entered a KTV. Smoke stench was unbearable. In 20mins, i switched to another room. The next day, after I came back from a days work, the key card wouldn't open. Staff advised that this was because i placed the card too near my phone?? Happened again 2 days later. Also, the electricity - key card contact point was not too good in the room, and electricity couldn't come on. Tried many times, but couldn't get it to work. Eventually called the reception, and stood at the lift lobby, waiting for a technician to come up. However, when he came up, the electricity was back on, and he told me it was impossible that the electricity would go out as the key card was inserted into the slot. -_- Subsequently, requested for a change of rooms and got a much better room for the remaining 2 nights. I have to say however, that I was not used to the large pillows, and had a neckache almost every day during my stay here.

The rooms are spacious and clean with a really comfortable bed – some might say it’s a bit too hard, but for me it was perfect. There’s a nice flat screen TV on the wall – channels include HBO, Star Movies, Star Sports, CNN and National Geographic Channel. I was fortunate enough to get a room with a bathroom with both a big shower and a bathtub which obviously made the experience much more spacious. The room was equipped with an iron and an ironing board – very useful! In regards to food, I tried the breakfast buffet as well as the adjacent Marco Polo restaurant. The breakfast buffet is really nice - especially the different kind of “home-made” bread is a very nice alternative to the classic hotel toast bread. Although the standard coffee might not win any awards, the selections in of different kinds of juices (and the option of sparkling water) is surely nice as well. I tried the so-called “pizza buffet” at the Marco Polo restaurant. In this case, “buffet” means that you can select as many pizzas as you like from 6-8 of the total number of pizzas that the restaurant has to offer. They’re quite in sizes, so I’m not sure if the deal is that good in the end. Unless you can eat more than one anyway, you might just be as well of ordering it separately. Anyway, the taste is great! The staff at the hotel is super nice and friendly and very helpful! Whether it’s the people at the reception, the restaurants or the spa/gym area. They all make you feel at home! The hotel also has a super nice gym on the 6th floor. It’s probably one of the best hotel gyms I’ve ever used. The cardio equipment is solid and rangers from bikes and cross trainers to treadmills and rowing machines. In terms of weight training, there’re a wide range of machines, dumbbells and even barbells! There’s complementary water and towels and with opening hours from 6am until midnight, there’s time enough to get your workout done regardless of how busy you might be! Would I chose this hotel next time I’m in Dalian? It’s very likely!

Located at the downtown of the city, close to the Train Station and Laodong Park. All facilities of the hotel are exellent, and all employees that I met are very kind and professional. The Room was so large and bathroom was so new and clean. The breakfast is wonderful. My stay was in the winter time, so the air in the room was a liitle too much dry and warm.

It is typically an Asian style of modern hospitality structure. Clean, large and modern rooms with mini bar, good wifi connection, with internal restaurants and with the good position. I found it a bit expensive in price.

Everytime i go to Dalian i stay at the Kempinsky Hotel. Very good welcoming from the staff, the rooms very clean and a good service at all.i forgot the breakfast too. and situated in the town center. And don`t forget to visit the Aquarium you will not regret.
