I use this hotel since many years, because of the close location to the office. The service is good and the room which I am typically using is well- furnished and clean. I find a large flower arrangement upon arrival and some fruits. The breakfast is oriented towards the majority of guests from Japan, but a Westerner can find it suitable, too. It is a pity that the service in the lounge of business floor (10th) has been limited, now there is no guest any more.
The East is located across the street from Dalian party area of 5 Colour City and as such the location is within 3 minutes’ walk of the main shopping malls too. The hotel itself offer comfortable good size rooms. The maid service is good with an evening turn down service and the rooms are kept clean, the air conditioning is very good and with the change of temperature between summer and winter in Northern China. There is a large breakfast area and I found the breakfast good but the choices never seems to change much which can be a bore if you’re staying an while. The staff and friendly and most of them speak English, which is not always the case in China. One thing to remember is that in China smoking is still allowed in public places so if you are booking a room and are a non-smoker remember to book a no-smoking room, I couple of times I forgot this and was stuck in a smoking room.
In Kaifaqu, your destination is Five Color City, but you like the big, new malls on Jinma Lu, the main street, and the hotels. Your favourite is the Dalian East Hotel, or the Dangfang Dasha. You gave it a great review on TripAdvisor. Dangfang Dasha is a Japanese style hotel that opened in 1994 and was redecorated in 2014. It has 275 rooms, a Japanese restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and a Western restaurant, a bar with hookahs called the Bohemian Club, a spa with a sauna and massage, a recreation room for majhong and simulated golf, a business centre and two floors, on top, with business suites. It is located near Wucaicheng Metro Station and Paotaishan Park, and, most importantly, it is right beside Five Color City.
I have stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and must say that I really enjoyed it. The hotel has all required facilities, very attentive staff and there are a lot of places near by as well. If you don't mind walking there are plenty of places to find in neighborhood. Very recommended.
Very convenient location. Walk to Starbucks. Walk to 5 Color City. Excellent choices for eating in hotel. The Chinese restaurant is great. Good breakfast daily. Clean rooms. Mostly comfortable bed. Reasonable rates.
I stayed for 3nights in non-smoker room at 10th floor. Room was clean and large enough with comfortable bed, and bathroom with bathtub. I prefer eating outside hotels and I was lucky there is a lot of restaurants and bars just across the street. Many restaurants are Japanese and Korean style out there. There are also Spa, hair dress and massage saloon, gym in the hotel but i had not time to visit any. Hotel staff was nice, almost everyone behind reception desk could speak English. They help me to order taxi to airport (100CNY) which took around 30min.
East Hotel is approx. 30 mins from Dalian Airport. But if you have work in Industrial part of Development Zone; then its perfect destination. You can reach your work in 15 mins. Hotel is good, rooms neat & clean. Many English news channels (CNN, BBC, etc). Internet speed is very fast. So, good business hotel to stay,
The East Hotel is very well located, with many little restaurants nearby. The rooms are very comfortable, with english TV channels (CNN, BBC, HBO and Movies) and the internet is fast and seemly no issue. The bathroom amenties are very standard, and nothing special, but has all the things you need. The bed is VERY comfortable for Chinese standard, not too hard, with good quality doona. Staff were very helpful, and always found someone able to help in English.
The East is mainly a business hotel I would say, in the Development Zone of Dalian. Rooms are very well appointed on the higher floors above 11. Cheaper and a little dated below but still fine. The restaurant caters for all tastes. If your a foreigner there alone there are many people in the restaurant around 7-8pm and they will welcome you to join them. There is a salon, shop, gym and several restaurants you need not go out unless you want to. Plenty of shops, bars & restaurants close by and the whole area feels very safe to be out alone after dark. There is even a beach within walking distance should you be there over a weekend.
I stay regularly at this "Chinese" city hotel, and from the look of the people at the breakfast buffet, so do a lot of others from outside of the PRC. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are average and well appointed. International English TV channels are available, as well as free fast Internet (but don't try to use Facebook in China). Always enjoy my stays there, and will continue to visit.
