Hilton Windhoek5.0 out of 5.0

Receptionist managed to give us a room which was already occupied, very embarassing! They programmed a wake up call at 3:30am on the first night, instead of the second night. After complaining, wake up call was not made on the second night. Room not clean, dirt on the carpet! Unfriendly staff at the reception
Situated in the middle of town, friendly helpfull staff, rooms are ok, spacious and clean, a bit old fashioned. Internet is good, we skipped the breakfast. Guarded safe parking available underneath the hotel
It was a standard Hilton, though I guess quite new as everything was in good condtion . Arrived with our tour group from the airport and had to wait for about 1.5 hours until our rooms were ready .They did give us (free)coffee etc but my husband just wanted to catch upon his sleep after an overnight flight and I just wantted to get out there and look round .It was a tad frustrating and the rest of our 20 strong party didn't arrive until much later so I would have thought it should have been possible to have our rooms ready . It 's very well located(Windhoek is small enough to walk around) though I was quite amused that the (5) ladies behind reception had trouble marking its location on a map for me .Totally unecessary as you can see it from all over the city I did wonder why they had 5 reception staff and presumably not enough chambermaids .. Its about 15 mins walk from the 'Gingerbread' church (beautiful and I got a free organ recital) and the vast memorial to the 'father of Nambia' which houses the museum Ate somewhere else so can't comment on dinner. Breakfast was probably the best we had in Namibia . Staff very courteous and definitey had benefited from training delivered by an international chain.
Hilton group are great, however I was disappointed with Windhoek Hilton. The staff are over relaxed. When a traveler walks in they normally uptight and had long journey behind them, then they paying the price for service as quick as possible , and this the staff must work on, react quickly not we coming back to you we coming back to you and then after 3 reminders still nothing. We arrived at 3 pm and the rooms were not ready, on asking they replied they coming back to us, at 4:45 pm I then had to threaten them that I want my money back and I’ll move to another hotel only then 10 min I got my room, the reason I mention this is not that I would not wait for the room but if you tell me 2 hrs then I can plan around that maybe go out etc but every time you tell someone it will be ready soon you kind of wait and waist time. GIVE A PROPER ANSWER WITH A PROPER TIME. Please And fellow travelers how is this a Hilton and I have to pay parking and for Wi-Fi really. Other then that the food was excellent and the chef that walked around speaking to clients well done that is the way.
The rooms are very nicely decorated, super clean, everything works perfectly, great beds and perfect showers. Very good breakfast, although a bit noisy if you are close to the kitchen (they have to fix the kitchen extractor, which is noisy and does not seem to extract the odors from the pancakes and eggs). Service is very good and the location of the hotel cannot be better.
We only have one Hilton in Namibia, but the hotel is really up to standard. We enjoy going back time and again. Its very central and one can walk after dark.Lots to see close by. Pool area is beautiful and rooms VERY luxurious ! Safe free parking in an underground parking space. Staff quite friendly and dinner lovely.
After staying a week in Namibia, i looked forward to coming back to the Hilton. Clean rooms and impeccable customer service. The spa experience was a little annoying as both nights ( spaced one week a part) were booked for all services so I guess they weren’t getting my money that way. Everything else was great.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, average kitchen, construction work in progress with cigarette smell filled passage way next to the casino. Half the wines on the looong menu were not available (they were on a storage room with no key to be found!) plus no Namibian wine on it!!! Same for some of the fish dishes on the menu that happened to be ‘just out of stock’ during the four days we spent there... And the Sky bar clothes at 22:00... Had a long discussion with the receptionist who charged our bills with meals that we had already paid for (we had a half board - breakfast and dinner option). All was sorted out but I would have happily skipped the controversy. Also, this is the first hotel ever where I could not check out the evening before departure because the software ‘must click into midnight in order to count the last night of our stay’. Weird! So we did it at 03:00a.m just before departure. All in all a good experience but certainly this hotel can do better!
The hotel is very clean and the staff are super friendly. We stay here every year and love it. Some of the staff remember us every year, it's amazing! The food is very good and they offer a great breakfast buffet. They have parking and a great sky bar with incredible reviews.
I recommend travelers to stay at this location in Windhoek, but... Beware that the parking charges are astronomical and a bit of a rip-off, whilst the internet speed is incredibly slow and cuts out at times. These factors could make or break your stay, but if these do not bother you, you can look forward to an amazing stay, incredible views from the rooftop Sky Bar and the heated pool, whilst the restaurants and buffet breakfast is certainly top class.
