About this property
Little cabin in the woods
Enjoy tent camping, but need a little relief from the hard ground? Ready for a real bed, without paying hotel prices? At The Cabin, you'll enjoy being surrounded by nature, not along a busy highway with noisy vehicles speeding by at all hours of the night. This cabin is off-grid, so plan on being unencumbered by the excesses that utilities afford. That's right! It's time to unplug and unwind. Ambience, tranquility, situated next to a seasonal pond, and just four miles from downtown Whitefish.
Amenities include: 8x12' log cabin with bunk beds for two people. Mattresses and pillow covers are moisture and bedbug proof. Towels, soap, and bed linens provided. 18x20' deck, big enough for a tent, in case you have a party of four. No chance of sleeping in a mud puddle. Potable water on the deck. Breeo smokeless fire pit for cooking, warmth, and s'mores. Firewood provided. Fire extinguisher. Feel free to never need to use it. Blackstone griddle with burner Solar shower with 10 gallon capacity Porta-potty Miles of trails for hiking/biking/riding on adjacent lumber company and forest service land. Please respect any "private" signs from my neighbors. Stables or pasture for your horses available for an extra charge.
I'll be pleased to meet you while you're here.
There's many miles of trails for hiking, biking, or riding on the adjacent lumber company property and Forest Service property. There are a few private landowners as well.
No electricity or wi-fi. Rules and helpful hints:
Bear spray is provided for your safety while you're here. Please leave it in the cabin when your stay is over.
Please don't put anything non-biodegradable in the porta-potty.
All food items must be stored in the cabin or in your closed vehicle because of bears.
The owner lives on the property and there are other guests on the property. Noise should be kept to a minimum (not louder than conversational), and vehicles should not be left running.
Please follow the posted instructions for use and cleaning of the fire pit. Always use the spark screen when not cooking. It's best to let the fire die down naturally, so give it time to die down before heading out or going to sleep. Cover the fire pit with the lid in order to keep out rain or prevent sparks from escaping. You will be held responsible for any fire damage, so be vigilant about keeping the fire in the Breeo and not letting it escape.
Cleaning supplies are provided for your sanitary pleasure. Feel free to clean up after yourself. Please wash all used dishes/utensils with soap, and clean the grill rack and griddle after use. Please put all food debris in a trashcan so that animals won't be attracted to it.
Please clean the griddle according to the posted instructions.
You can put your trash in the provided outside trashcan, and I will remove it.
Do NOT empty ashes from the fire pit. Do NOT wet down ashes in fire pit. Do NOT empty the grease trap behind the griddle.
NO fireworks. Smokey the Bear and I thank you. No smoking or drugs. Your body and I thank you.
Pets are welcome as long as they are under your constant control and as long as you clean up after them. Dog waste bags are provided.
You are liable for damages ( from pets or otherwise), so please treat my property with respect.
Please don't feed my cat if she wanders over. And please don't accidentally shut her in your vehicle because she will definitely try to get in. In summer heat, it would prove fatal for her.
Horse boarding is available (stall or pasture) for an additional charge. Please contact Doug at 406-300-2053 for details and pricing.
You can call the same number if you have any questions or concerns.
Please turn off lights when you're away from the cabin. Please close door and windows when you check out.
If you need more batteries for the lights, more fire starter or firewood, call me, and I'll bring you some.
When riding, biking, or hiking, please observe any private property signs. I've marked part of the property as private for myself, and some of my neighbors have marked their properties as well.

It was a lovely spot smack in the middle of nature away from roads and sounds. Great wood work both in cabin and on deck. Enjoyed to shower out doors in the green. Nice experience and felt well taken care of

Stayed here for the music festival with my adult kids. Doug was very responsive to my messages to confirm the party size and our arrival time. Clean, small cabin. The listing has the VRBO icon “kitchen,” but be sure to read the full description…. Cooking is to be done on the propane grill on the deck, or over the fire. Plenty of firewood available if that’s your jam. Location is about 12-15 minutes from the “Blue Lot” for Under the Big Sky, and about 20-25 from downtown Whitefish. Bring a headlamp to make nighttime trips to the Honeybucket easier
