My sister, 2 grandchildren, and I stayed at the Mountain View House. For $300 per night, I expected more. The house was comfortable as far as the number of rooms and the comfort of the beds and from the king sized bed we saw a spectacular fire works show on Saturday night. However, there was a faint smell of smoke throughout the house. It could use a good deep cleaning. Some of the filthy curtains were hung backwards and upside down. The bathrooms were very clean but the heat lamp did not work. We brought food to cook but the stove did not work. The wells on the stove were dirty - one had a bobby pin in it. We left it apart and housekeeping did clean it but then we found the bobby pin in the sink. The overhead light to the stove and one shelf in the kitchen had a lot of mouse poop on them. We were complimented with a free breakfast for the four of us upon departure and the food was fresh and very tasty. The grounds were already decorated for Christmas! That was okay...there was a nice wedding going on as well. We walked around the pond. I have to say the information booklet said Indian Head was formed 6000 years ago but my 9-year old grandson said that could not be true and we looked it up - yup, it was formed 6.3 MILLION years ago! The pools were great and the surrounding areas for hiking and going out to eat well, can't be beat. The staff were very nice except the lady in the gift shop who was very grouchy.
Resort is a great place to kick back, love the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. the views from the outdoor hot tub is awesome. Depending on time of year plenty of things to do. Plenty of parking. BE aware....some of the rooms are across the street, and its a Highway you have to cross to get to the activities. the lounge has entertainment thats pretty good, not the best bartenders or service but its nice to be close to room.
I have been here several times while attending their psychic weekend getaway packages. The staff is nice and there is plenty to do. The scenery is very nice. I was somewhat disappointed by the buffet selections this time around, but they were ok. I like ordering off of the dinner menu better, as the different things I have tried before have all been excellent. When it is busy during breakfast hours, ordering from the buffet will get you out of there faster. I would recommend staying away from the hash as it wasn't cooked right. As for the rooms, they are big enough if you have a lakeview room. I just wish they would replace the pictures of native Americans that hang above each bed. The same pictures seem to be in each room I have stayed in. Overall, I would stay here again.
What a great time we had! At 60 degrees, it was perfect to hike and check out the changing colors of the season, but it was also AMAZING to swim in the heated year round outdoor pool and relax in the hot tub! They have a fantastic restaurant and lounge, with big screen football games and live entertainment nightly. My daughter loved spending time in the arcade and playing ping pong with her dad. They have a gift shop and a observation tower. Oh and an indoor pool and fitness room. But the location is also a big plus, it’s near a ton of great hiking trails and minutes from the kangamangus scenic highway! My family had a wonderful trip and plan to go back again next year! Oh and they also have a lake with paddle boats and you can fish as well.
We stayed here on Columbus Day weekend. It is a nostalgic place for my husband, as he and his family stayed here when he was a child. We got a lake view room. The view is so pretty. Small lake. Mountain sides for miles and a small mill house with a wheel. The breakfast buffet was very good and they try their hardest to keep it full. I would say that the dinner staff at the restaurant was sub par. They had an event going on so they had staff working that. Perhaps they were short staffed. But we were told a 20minute wait. Which turned into a 40 min wait. And when we asked the host told us as soon as he could. When we threatened to leave to find something else he then seemed to think he could sit us in 5 minutes. We were hungry so we went elsewhere. Don’t expect the best service if they are busy. Beds and pillows are so so. Bring your own pillow if you don’t want flat and hard. I would rate this a 3 as the view is nice. The room was clean. And they do have a large gift shop and restaurant.
My sister & I have stayed in the cabins several times & we have always had a positive experience. However, this time the one negative was when we went to lounge, every server walked right past us & avoided eye contact or looked right thru us. Had to stop someone to see why they hadn't taken our order, apparently in the lounge you have to order at the bar, would of been nice to know. Hopefully, they will post something to let people know there has been a change in policy.
My daughter is in a manual wheelchair and we were trying to find access to outdoor pool. We asked three different front-desk employees for accessible directions to pool and received three different answers, all of which were not accessible routes. We ended up carrying my daughter and wheelchair up the hill to the pool ourselves while employees watched and did not offer to help. The staff needs to be trained on handicapped accessibility. I requested to talk to manager various times and never received callback.
My grandmother used to tell me about all her trip to Indian Head and after she passed 13 years ago I wanted to go to feel "closer" to her. My family and I have gone every year two to three times a year since then. We have come to know the staff on first name basis and they treat us like family. What started as just a quiet weekend getaway 13 years ago to remember a loved one has turned into a location that we go to for holidays and celebration of a special event whether a birthday or a surprise engagement.
The rooms are nice, with comfortable beds. Our room had a king and double. It is an older hotel some cracks in the ceiling plaster. Large 50 inch tv. The best part was the beautiful view from your front and back doors. It was breathtaking. The food in their restaurant was delicious. The entertainment in the bar area was a little cheesy.
We stayed at the Indian Head for two nights. We had a room on the ground floor at the other side of the road, opposite the mail building. The first evening we decided to eat at the restaurant of the hotel. That was a bad idea. My vegetables were burned to charcoal (completely black) and it was simply not good food. To be honest, the manager took the food of the bill but that does not make the food any better. The room was big but a bit dated. That is OK, but what is not OK is that the first floor has a wooden floor. This means you hear every step your upstairs neighbour makes. We had the bad luck our neighbour started walking around at 4 am and he didn't stop untill 8. We even thougt that someone was busy doing repairs but I'm not sure about that. Whatever it was, needless to say we hardly slept. All together, it isn't a bad hotel but don't eat there and get a room on the first floor (which is the second floor for Americans I believe, we are European and call the ground floor, the ground floor)
