I first stayed at the Indian Head in 1985 for a high school ski trip. The charm is still the same but many updates have been done to the rooms and grounds. The restaurant and indoor pool area need an update but are fine to use. The breakfast buffet is great and reasonable. My favorite thing to do there is grab a coffee early in the morning and take a paddle boat onto the lake. So relaxing and fun. There are several trails close by. The resort has a main building, some buildings across the street and cute cottages to rent. We stayed in all of them over the years. I recommend a lake view room . Try to get room between 201-208 or 301-308. They have the best views and are closest to the main building and all the amenities. Try to go Sunday to Tuesday. Room prices are cheaper and it's quieter. The martini's in the bar are great. The entertainment tends to be geared towards old folks.
We spent three wonderful days at the Indian Head resort. They staff was the best I’ve ever seen at any resort I’ve stayed at. Food was amazing. We were with a group and the meal plan was included but if you book a room or cabin it’s well worth the price to include it. Beautiful views. Two hearted pools two hot tubs one in one outside. Live Entertainment dancing every night. We had a great time.
another great wknd at this wonderful family resort great staff good food ..this wknd great bargain two nites four meals included good entertainment. And psychic readings. Lots of fun and dancing some shopping at nearby discount stores.
I am so mad! I just observed 3 ladies totally harass and complain about absolutely everything that was brought to them. They complained about the bread, The food, the drinks, the silverware the service etc.. Absolutely everything! These 3 ladies obviously thought they were entitled and better then everyone. It was obvious they were just miserable people that had nothing better to do then have the poor waiter and bartender that was doing an extraordinary job run around thinking that they where inadequate. I want everyone to realize that the bartender and waiter did an extraordinary job and deserve much more respect then they did from these 3 ungrateful miserable humans. I just found out that these 3 “old ladys" are indeed the owners or owner and friends. You should be ashamed of yourselfs the way you treat your employees!! Who are you showing off for? I’ve been to the Indian head resort multiple times and will not be back until there is a public apology to your employees that deserve so much more!! To the Employees that where working on Tuesday April 17th 2018 I'm am truly sorry you have to deal with people belittling you as they did. If I where you I would look for a job elsewhere. I have a feeling that this wasn't the first time you have had to deal with these miserable humans.
This Dirty Dancing-style throwback is my happy place – whenever I get stressed I pop up to the Indian Head and chill out, get work done, and spend a lot of time in the outdoor jacuzzi. I have hopes that one day they'll hire a team of Swayze types to teach me how to play tennis or lead water aerobics classes. I've always found the customer service to be incredible, and you can get a Thanksgiving-style dinner all year. During the off season there's a chit program where you can get a package of credits for several room stays – if you stay during the week it's less than $75/night. IMO the cabins offer the coolest space and best value. AND THEY HAVE A MEAL PLAN, which makes things easy if you don't feel like leaving the grounds. The cocktails are legit, especially the pina coladas. Except for the TVs the rooms are time capsules from the 80s, but have everything you need. I stay here at least 15 days a year, and this place is quaint AF. On holidays they'll take your photo with a real camera, pop down to the Rite Aid for 1-hr printing, and have your prints ready at the front desk the same day.
We booked this trip last minute as we unexpectedly lost our family dog and wanted to get away for a few days and let our daughter be a kid for a bit. I found this place online and after seeing the Sugar Maple Experience went ahead and booked. Once booked I got a little nervous as I was seeing some bad reviews and some friends and coworkers were not too thrilled when they stayed here. I was not expecting a 5 star hotel, I did look over the hotel before booking so i was expecting a clean place to sleep that offered fun for our daughter. We checked in and the guy at the front desk was very nice. Once we discussed the pool and i found out we had to walk outside to get to the pool the poor kid felt my aggravation as I booked the main building so my daughter could swim. Anyway the hell with it we took the keys and went to the room. Checked in and we had a nice large room. 2nd floor with a King ( we think California King ) and a double bed. This was fantastic because we had a huge bed and my daughter wasnt on the couch. We headed down to the tavern for some food and got some average dinner. Saturday we took off for the Maple Experience at The Rocks Estate. My wife, daughter and I all loved it. So much fun and nice Horse Carriage Ride and Tractor ride. Then back to the hotel to swim outside in the heated pool. This was my daughters favorite part. Sitting outside, while it was snowing, was a trip. She loved it. Then after dinner we went to the bar and experienced Jose Duddy! We had SO MUCH fun and my daughter had a blast dancing with all the folks who came to see Jose and we took pictures with him and everything. Everyone there was awesome and all the locals made sure my daughter enjoyed herself as well. We are looking to come back to IHR for the summer as it looks like it could be even more fun for the family. Not sure why people left it such bad reviews. Your not booking this huge Corporate hotel, your booking a family friendly, family value resort that you create memories.
We stayed here along with family for my sister's wedding. The wedding room was beautiful. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. We can't wait to come back in the summer so we can fully utilize all the resort has to offer.
As buffets go this was was very good.....the prime rib was excellent and fresh. The value for the meal was awesome and we will be back! Great view from lower dining area. Overall food was pretty good!
My wife and I were supposed to say here in October of 2017 for a wedding but my wife was sick and we needed to cancel our reservation. We were planning on staying Friday and Saturday. I called the Tuesday before to cancel. When I called, first they said they couldn't cancel my reservation and I would be forced to pay the full amount. I was disappointed because not only would my deposit be forfeited but I would be on the hook for the balance even though they would be filling the room (let's not kid ourselves, a room in Lincoln, NH during peak leaf peeping season will not go unfilled). I asked to speak to the manager and the manager told us we didn't have a reservation. I knew this to be untrue because I have a record from my bank stating the payment was made for $219.75 for a 50% deposit on April 26th and it cleared on April 27th. I argued to no avail that I made a reservation and I wanted my money back. They refused and my wife and I had to eat the $219.75. I would HIGHLY recommend staying somewhere else.
Stayed last week over February vacation as a family of four. Perhaps it was just poor timing but the Resort is certainly in need of some changes. The staff was certainly friendly enough but the Resort was filled with 300 or so High School students from England who were allowed to run wild and be as disruptive as they pleased. Prank calls to our room and pounding on the doors in the middle of the night with little to no consequences. One could say the onus falls on the chaperones and not the resort however it seems the resort did to little to nothing to resolve the problems. The pools, although not crowded, were in dire need of cleaning, the 110 degree game room contains machines that either ate our quarters or were just broken and not working, the beds were the most back breaking uncomfortable beds we have ever slept on, and the two way over priced meals we ate at the restaurant (dinner and breakfast) made my husband and I both sick to our stomachs. They do offer a nightly Kids Club consisting of a make your own ice cream sundaes, a little clown show and either games or bingo to follow. That was great with little children. Given our experience, I don't think we'll be back.
