Old style motor lodge that has recently been renovated in what I would describe as "hospital modern". Lots of grey and white tile with blue accents. Down sides include, no place to put ANYTHING in the bath or shower. Absolutely no shelves or counter space. Shampoo and stuff has to be put on the shower floor. Also, no suitcase stands or closet poles to open or hang your belongings. It seems like they spent all their remodeling money on the walls and floor and ran out of cash. And, there is almost no sound proofing between rooms. We could hear even normal conversations from the next room. Up sides, there's a nice large flat screen TV and very good wifi. Might work for a one night stay if traveling thru.
My husband and I stayed at The Coast this past weekend - one night. It does look like it is being renovated but we do have a few suggestions for the owner. The shades did not entirely fit the windows so at night we didn't feel secure especially with no curtains or such to help. Also we had a room with 2 queen beds - one of the beds had stains on the sheets and also had sand left over from the previous guests stay we believe since it was on top of the bed linen. We were happy there was another option to sleep for the night in the other bed. The room only had one waste basket and it was in the front area and not the bathroom which was annoying to have to keep coming out of the bathroom to throw items away. We do have to say that the renovations are nice but cleanliness was a bit of an issue which may impact us coming back in the future.
I had a marvelous stay here. Looking back through these reviews, the only negative ratings/comments are prior to the new ownership (when it was still the Sand Dollar). If you were familiar with the old property, you wouldn't recognize it now. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The rooms are completely renovated and gorgeous, literally everything is brand new. The beds are probably better than mine at home, divine ! By far the best accommodations I've found in Westerly anywhere close to this price range. Location is close to both Watch Hill and Misquamicut beaches and a quick shot to Charlestown. The Manager, Jim, is so friendly and pleasant to deal with. I will definitely return anytime I'm in Westerly.
This place was great! Outside looks like a Motel but when you step inside you will be surprised at how nice it is. It was perfect for a girls night. It is on a main road but set back and quiet and about 10 min to the beach. The service was great! The best part was how comfortable the beds were. Everything is brand new. I will come again.
After reading the reviews we had to check this place out. We stayed here 4 days after the 4th of July weekend recently, and we were pleasantly surprised. Upon first pulling into the parking lot, it isn't too impressive. It looks like a new roof was put on as well as a fresh paint job, new chairs etc.. Upon checking in with a very friendly gentleman we were shown our room. Everything about the room was awesome. All new paint, flooring ,furniture, modern fixtures and so forth. I jokingly said to others "we must have just missed the painters". One of the nicest things in the room was the rain flow shower head , and new shower surround. Everything was clean and the staff was more than accommodating . Thank you for a memorable trip. We will be back....
Looks can be deceiving. When you first pull into the parking lot, it looks like your typical motel. Then you open your door to the room and it’s all renovated, clean and modern. Nice place to stay. Comfy bed and beautiful shower. They are very friendly too!
Went to RI for parents weekend. Very nice place, close to everything we needed. Hamish, the mgr, was very friendly, professional and helpful. Renovated rooms were clean and sharp. Room rate was a great value for the area. Would highly recommend!
Just came back from a surprise getaway with my husband! This motel was such a great stay I can’t wait to take the kids with us next year! Clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable, friendly and accommodating staff, close to beaches and other attractions- did I mention clean?! Had a great stay!
Up to RI to visit family in Charlestown, we needed a place that would accept dogs. This was a great find! The owners are still working the renovation but our room, especially for a motel, is very high end! The bathroom was huge. Everything is new. Give the place and more importantly the owners a chance. We’ll be back.
The Coast is under new management and being remodeled. We had a great stay in a newly remodeled room, It was very modern and "spa-like" and comfortable in every way! The fellow running it is a sweetheart! Highly recommend!
