Decent room, good breakfast, decent WiFi free, good location. Staff tried very hard to please. We used this for a single night as we prepared to take a cruise ship from the Puerto there. Bed was comfortable.
I stayed for four nights, the room was as advertised, and I loved the location, preferred to stayed there than up the hills, and there at least three lifts nearby. The best part was the staff, they were all very nice, and went out of their way to assist me with a few issues that I had during my stay.
The high point of our stay was the staff: they were flexible, available, helpful. The hotel is relatively small, our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were good and, as always in this hotel, staff was eager to meet our needs. The hotel is on the flat part of Valparaiso, but it backs up against the hill to the old part of town and we found interesting restaurants, great street art, and a central location for exploring this unique city.
The staff was more than outstanding. One of our party arrived ill and unfortunately lost her medication case. They spent several hours helping us track it successfully. The location was ideal, the rooms were large and clean. The building was charmingly old. The breakfast staff couldn't do enough for their guests. This is a rare, truly charming find.
We stayed at this 1910 bank that has been refurbished to a modern-style hotel. It's a convenient location (if you haven't been to valparaiso, don't let the graffiti in the neighborhood startle you - it's a part of the street art in the city). The rooms were nice, clean, modern, and uncluttered. The breakfast was AMAZING. Don't miss the coffee or the eggs with ham and cheese, prepared to order. They were the best we had during our whole trip!! The true star of the hotel, however, is the incredibly gracious team that runs Hotel Terranostra. Everyone we interacted with was a DELIGHT. Francisco and Guillem, who welcomed us when we arrived couldn't have been more lovely. Guillem even hopped into the rental car to help my dad take the car to the right (free) garage. Francisco helped us find incredible restaurants, guided us on sights to see in the city, and helped us find some delicious Chilean wine. I loved this hotel and truly cannot compliment the team enough. What a wonderful welcome to Chile!
We booked the hotel for a night after leaving the Crown Princess cruise from Buenos Aires. We booked via the internet after reading reviews of hotels in Valparaiso fairly close to the cruise terminal. From the outside, the hotel is not as impressive as newer hotels, but once inside, the service, staff and rooms are well above average. The staff, in particular Francisco and Laura, went well beyond the normal hotel staff responsiveness. We arrived very early (9 AM) so the staff stored our luggage for us as we explored Valparaiso, Our room was large, modern and well appointed. Breakfast in the lobby was nicely done and fun.
Contrary to the reviews, I found the hotel to be filthy, scantily staffed and unprofessionally dressed. In the rooms, the bathrooms were clogged, upon calling the front desk somebody showed up with a plunger which dripped all over the floor. She wiped it with tissue and was on her way. It was disgusting. The rooms were super small and the location is on a main road, so it is always noisy from the vehicles on the road. The breakfast was decent - one star for that. Close to main tourist attraction which gets it another star. And another star for the good service in the restaurant and floor crew.
The location is perfect, the room was fine, albeit if your coffee machine is out in the hall. The breakfast was strangely managed. The come around and ask you what you want and as long as you have lots of time, eventually it it come.
I spent one night here. The room is relatively small but clean with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower (just what I needed coming straight from an overnight flight and bus ride from Santiago). It's located steps away from Acensor Conception and just a few blocks from several other landmarks, yet it's relatively quiet. The staff was nice and even let me check in a few hours early. Definitely worth the price.
We booked this hotel hoping for an above average stay for a special time together. The photos looked great and showed some nice features (don't try looking for hotels with a pool, they're rare in Valparaiso). Valparaiso is surrounded by hills which are covered in quirky little boutique hotels and restaurants, The Terranostra is on the flat in the city centre so it is amongst the noise and less quirky surroundings. We booked through hotels.com, but found out later that the hotel website had a 25% off if you booked two or more nights. Meaning we could have had the premium but had already booked. We sent an email with the situation and they responded with an assurance of their best superior King as premium wasn't available. When we first arrived, greeted by the later evening front desk person we felt we made a bad decision. The greeting was less than welcoming and the wifi code was scribbled on a piece of paper with some other doodling. The room did not feel like their best superior King. There was no balcony as advertised. It was quiet though as it wasn't facing the street which is a bonus. We looked at another room and instantly heard the street noise. We felt disappointed. Failed again in finding a decent hotel for the price. This is where Hotel Terranostra proved themselves. Breakfast is simple and delicious. Eggs, toast, cereal, fruit, coffee and excellent welcoming service. A manager also welcomed us and knew all about our ordeal offering the premium room for our second night free of charge. We moved in as soon as it was ready. The premium is excellent. It's in the dome of the cornered building with four poster bed, stand alone bath tub, double sinks, and beautifully quiet for a downtown hotel. Thank you for your excellent service and awareness of your guests. I recommend this hotel to anyone. Just check the website for any speicals!
