I'm recommending this hotel with some hesitation. Here is a short summary: We arrived at 12pm which was the indicated check-in time on the reservation. The small lobby are was chaotic--people trying to check-in or out, suitcases all over the place. We were told that rooms were going to be available after 3pm due to busy cruise season. Upon returning, we were given a room on the 4th floor. This is the floor from hell! The 4th floor is directly above the building's parking lot. Every time a car entered or left, we heard it in the room. A lot of noise and vibrations. After complaining to the hotel staff and showing them that during this trip we were staying in three ibis hotels, we were changed to a higher and quiet floor; but, in reality, the 4th floor should have no rooms or make costumers awared and deeply reduce the rate.
You can see a lot from that location . Felt very secure in Hotel Ibis. It's is basic business class hotel. Close to the cruise ship docks,, a 5 minute ride by taxi cost 15 us dollars. You can pay at the transportation booth. Watch you taxi as mine tried to charge me an extra 20.00 us, but backed down when I showed him the receit from the airport . Check in was 15 minutes and waited for 2 hours and checked in at 1pm. Check in your luggage and walk around until check in time. Morning buffet was OK no bacon but ham, eggs, etc. Cost around 6.00 us. Has bar, not very busy. Very noisy in front side with traffic. Good air conditioner and heat . Ask for an upper floor room facing the ocean, or a side room for nice view of city and a part view of the water. Staff very helpful, most front desk speak good English. Ask front desk for power adaptor the plugs are 220 volt, they will supply one for you at the front desk. Many great eating places within waling distance. Small shopping mall next door open till 10pm, which has a nice size grocery store on 2nd level ,dry cleaning with same day service, three or 4 fast food places on 2nd level. Mall information desk inside. I was only booked for one night but stayed for four nights. Price was great only you get much better price when booking on line with a hotel supplier then booking directly with hotel. Was worried before check in by lower price, but enjoyed my stay . Will definitely book this hotel again. ,
Nice hotel. Convenient to the ship harbor and cruiseport. Rooms are nice and the ones on the back have a view of the Harbor. I had room 531 with a nice view. Rooms are well appointed. The is a breakfast available on the premises, but I did not eat there. Within a block is a mall with a food court and a large supermarket. ATMS have available here, but I think you get a better deal from the Exchange place across the street to the right. The ATM will charge you about $5,00, and the exchange place has no charge. There are nice buildings (Government) with near walking distance from the hotel, and boat rides etc are available from the port area. Taxi to the cruise port cost me 8,000 Chilean $ (about $12 US). The hotel clerk told me that it would only cost 5,000. I questioned the driver and took his name, but he would not relent. It was a relatively short ride, so either I got cheated or the hotel clerk did not know what she was talking about. The only problem with the hotel was starting around 6 am, there was a noise like someone dropping bowling balls that seemed to reverberate down the walls. I questioned the desk clerk, but did not get an answer as to whether there was a gym in the building or not.
Beds in double rooms are to small. But the hotel is very clean
