This hotel is different than many hotels I've stayed at. We had a suite (which I would recommend). Each room is unique, but ours had high ceilings, an ocean view and a huge bathroom (at least compared to other hotels in Chile). Loved the decor! It came with a great breakfast (fruit, yogurt, eggs, etc.) served to your table. The staff was friendly and spoke English. A couple downsides (although I didn't reduce my rating) - 1) The hotel entrance is on a pedestrian street, so you have to get your luggage to the hotel (about 1/2 a block) and 2) There aren't any elevators, but plenty of stairs. These elements just added to the uniqueness for me, but might be negatives for others. The restaurant has some of the best food in town as well!

We've stayed in one of the simplest rooms that Fauna offers. The room was super bright, clean, decorated with great taste. Breakfast is very good and the service is kind and very helpful. The location is ideal, close to most attractions in the city, and surrounded by excellent restaurants.

The interior of the hotel is gorgeous. It's an architectural masterpiece - truly gorgeous. Rooms are stylish not utilitarian. Bed was comfy. Windows open directly for fresh air. Views were great. The RESTAURANT is AMAZING! Great ceviche and a DELICIOUS VEGAN panini w/ beet hummus, roasted walnuts & avocado. Great wine selection. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Even though you're in the heart of Cerro Aleger (on a walk way, not a street), it was comfortable and safe. Highly recommend our driver: Cristian Alveal at azimo9.cristian@gmail.com for transfers between Santiago and private tours; great English and knowledge of Valpo.

Our experience at fauna was excellent. The room was very tidy and clean, a little bit darker but we were there in the middle of the winter. The service both at the reception and at the restaurant was fast and efficient, providing with all the information you may need. We tries the restaurant both for breakfast and for a mid-afternoon snack, when they serve superb sandwiches with a view on the city. Very charming experience.

We stayed in June-July 2017 for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. It's a great position, and if you're lucky enough to have a view, you get the awesome Valpo scenery at all hours. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfasts were ample and tasty and had an awesome view. The hotel is light-filled and airy and generally well designed. We stayed in low season and were able to check-out late (3pm) with no additional costs. Our critiques are that the staff were not friendly - not so much as a 'welcome', or 'how are you' when we arrived - perhaps too cool to be friendly? There are no tea/coffee facilities for hotel guests' use - we had to buy tea from the restaurant upstairs. The main problem for us was that the wifi was terrible - we were relying on it to book the next accommodation, but had to go and sit in the hallway (there were lounge chairs in the common areas) because the wifi cut off when we went into our room. As others have mentioned, there are no lifts or ramps - so you have to be able to carry your bags up/down stairs to stay here (again a comment on the staff - nobody helped us). Also note that you can hear people come/go and noise outside because of the location of the hotel, so you may want to bring earplugs if that is an issue for you.

My fiancée and I stayed only night here and got the basic room. The room and bathroom was clean and well looked after. However, one problem was the hotel could be quite noisy with timber stairs which we could hear people going up and down throughout the night. We could also hear the doors banging throughout the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful and organized a taxi from Valparaiso to Santiago and checked us in early. We also had an awesome breakfast watching the sun rise from their restaurant. Overall a nice stay.

Wonderful location in one of the older parts of town with great views over the harbor. Very stylish with modern design. Nice uncluttered bathroom with the best rainshower head. Warm and friendly reception; kudos to the hotel for keeping its rooftop restaurant open during the Chilean national census when everything else was closed. Food was excellent; we went back even when other options became available. Hotel concierge arranged an excellent private tour to wineries in the Casablanca Valley for one afternoon. Our suite (Room 11) was directly underneath the restaurant, so there was some noise overhead when they were setting up and closing down. Convenient with many interesting sites within walking distance. I didn't notice any air-conditioning; I'm not sure if that would be an issue in warmer months. Overall, a perfect base and excellent value for your Valparaiso trip.

Good location on small pedestrian street at top of funicular. Felt quite safe. Very unusual decor. Helpful reception staff. Dining room/bar has great views and amazing pisco sours. They've been trying out free walking tour from hotel. It was great.

Was very impressed with cool hotel Fauna! If you are into design this is the place for you! Everything about this place is cool: the building, the decor, the restaurant, even the soap is cool! Have probably never had better hotel included breakfast. And the staff is helpful and service minded beyond expectation. Only minor issue is the very sparse wardrobe in the rooms. We had quite a lot of luggage and it was hard to accommodate with a shelf unit and 4 hangers.

Beautiful, great location , wonderful staff. Best rooftop view in the city! The staff helped us in every way, from where to park, where to eat, booking tours, and each of the recos were excellent. They were booked later in the week and we had to stay in another hotel and while it was good, the experience was day and night. Worth the money, Absolutely great,
