Incredible entrance in the middle of industry, and what a find! Great staff, great room and the best dinner I can remember ever! Well worth a stay or a stopover for the dining experience alone! Fabulous!
What a surprising find in the middle of an industrial estate. The setting must have been wonderful, close to the banks of the Saone, once upon a time. It was rather wonderful to be led by our satnav (whose nagging I usually ignore) through all the bustle of modernity up a gravel path into a wonderfully peaceful courtyard with ample parking. Everything was very efficient and clean. A handy lift to a spacious room on the first floor. An interesting menu well cooked and served. Overall a reasonably priced and convenient stopover on the way south, and I would think a good base from which to explore the Beaujolais and Lyon. We will return
This is a lovely place to stay. It is set in the middle of an industrial estate, which is a bit of a downer, but once you arrive it is a place of tranquillity. A good room, great food -all reasonably priced- and very helpful staff. Dinner, particularly, was a treat. Just don't look around, as you are driving there. As Michelin would say 'Well worth the detour'.
We were full of trepidation after looking at Google maps for the location of this hotel. It is situated in the middle of a very large commercial / industrial site close to the motorway. The approach was along a dusty avenue of plane trees. Then we entered a beautiful courtyard and an old abbey. The parking is very good and the hotel really lovely. Our room was large and quiet and cool, in a very hot day. My wife maintains that the restaurant was the best we’ve eaten at fir years. It was very good. The staff were friendly and efficient, but spoke little English. A real find!
We spent one night at the location on our way back to Paris from La Coitat. The room was big and very well appointed. The hotel was very peaceful. You need to pay attention when you get near because the entrance road to hotel is hard to see. The breakfast was very good as well.
This hotel is a real find though, you cannot believe how, so close to a motorway or in the middle of an industrial estate you can find such tranquillity. We did not find it easily but as a point of reference for others it is behind and to the right of the Campagnile. The room was clean comfortable and had a bath room with a separate toilet. The bath was large and comfortable. The bed was excellent and we slept very well. We had dinner that was delicious a menu for €32 each and next morning a typically French breakfast no frills but very good with homemade bread and jams. Bed breakfast and dinner came to €210 which is quite expensive for a stop over but actuall it was really worth it. Lovely place lovely staff and lovely food. A real gem
After a long 8 hour drive from London, just driving up the tree-lined entrance to the hotel started to relax me. Parking is on site and the hotel is only minutes from the motorway. The building is absolutely beautiful, but it was the garden that truly made the difference. A lovely cold glass of wine before a sumptuous dinner, cooked to perfection, made our stay memorable. The bedrooms were well-appointed and very quiet. Breakfast was delicious with home-made jams, fresh orange juice and great coffee. We'll definitely be back.
We have been driving to the Trois Vallées for twenty years and had tried many options to break the journey. This one is perfect. Pretty close to the motorway (and you can get cheap petrol about a mile away) but a really charming and stylish old building with great charm and superb food.
Not a great location, situated in the industrial area of Villefranche sur saone, but what delicious food. The chef is an absolute star so this will be high on our list to visit again when we are in this area. The best sweetbreads (ris de veau) ever! Simply served with Morels & little potato pancakes. Meal price ok for the quality. Did not stay so cannot comment on the bedrooms but the main building was surprisingly quiet given the property backs onto the motorway.
I have been here during the Beaujoulais festival. Staff very kind and helpful. The venue is very nice, as well as the rooms, clean and calm. The parking is accessible only until about 10 PM, after it's needed to use the external parking (just by the walls). All in all it is recommended. I did not try the restaurant but breakfast was nice and with organic products. The only downside, if we want to find one, the internet connection wasn't that powerful and it is a little distant from the center of Villefranche sur Saone. However I recommend this hotel.
