The hotel is well located; Vientiane is not large. Overall good service. The meeting room facilities are a little ancient but understandable. The breakfast lunch and dinner buffets are good and overall cleanliness well managed. Large lobby, seating areas and good for holiday or business. Yes, I would stay here again in Laos.
Centrally located in the heart of Vientiane, this hotel is within walking distance to the Mekong River. The hotel caters to the business community with a business centre as well as meeting rooms. There is a pool, fitness centre as well as a spa here. The buffet lunch served here was really good with a wide spread of salads, soups, sushi and Asian dishes. Service here was also friendly and efficient.
Stayed 10 days at the hotel. Overall nice experience. Friendly staff, nice buffet breakfast (although not a lot of fresh fruit and vegetable). Room was ok, clean, amenities, a lot of space and TV with international channels. Location is great too, walking distance to the river (night market), shopping street, many restaurants and a couple of big supermarkets. There's a gym & fitness area with a nice swimming pool, but no spa (e.g. they only come to your room for massages, which is inconvenient as your room is not equipped with a massage table, etc.) On the downside, it's not the coziest hotel. It's best for big events with a hundred of participants where everyone needs to stay together at the same place. The lobby area is huge but not very cozy for relaxing. It's very much a business hotel, so if you are on vacation or looking for a "warmer" environment, it's not the best choice. WiFi in the rooms is free but annoying. They give you "vouchers" and their validity varies from 24 hours to 3 days. So if your voucher "expired" overnight you need to go back to reception and get another one. A bit annoying, why not make connection free as in the lobby? Very strange.
I wanted my dimsum buffet and there is no better place in Vientiane but the May Yuan Chinese restaurant inside Lao Plaza Hotel. The buffet starts with a choice of soup, then some appetizers. Then the multitude of dimsum come marching in.
This hotel is located very centrally but the facilities are slightly worn out. Need to spruce up the hardware aspect of this hotel. The rooms are pretty spacious and the staffs are friendly too. However, the staffs' command of English can be quite weak, thus, not able to aid us in making some necessary transportation arrangements. However, the grand ballroom is pretty decent by Laos' standard.
Two years later I found a hotel with upgraded rooms, comfortable beds and good amenities. A change for the better and which makes it competitive again. The entrance hall has not changed and could benefit becoming a little more friendly and the dining room for breakfast could be a little less crowded so walking with a plate from the buffet could be less adventurous. Service is good and usually efficient although there is sometimes some lack of English skills but this is common in Vientiane. Good gym and pool. Very central. Will stay there again. Hotel offers airport transfer. One minus is the cost of the room for half day which can be necessary if you take the evening flight to Bangkok. It was higher than the price that a friend was paying for one night at the nearby newly open Ibis.
Hotel provides free airport shuttle and is located near to many cafes/restautants. There is a Laos Kitchen nearby that serves decent local food. Short walk to night market and shops. Room is spacious, clean and nice. Breakfast buffet is not too bad, nice spread. Tuk Tuks available outside hotel, if you need a ride. Staff are polite and able to speak English. Would recommend for short business trip/stay.
I found the hotel to be outstanding but for one detail. There is free wifi in the lobby but if you want wifi in your room they want $12 ! Never heard of such an arrangement. The room was nice and modern. The staff was pleasant, courteous and professional. Breakfast was a large buffet. If you want coffee or refill you need to be aggressive to catch their eye. ( coffee cup at arms length over your head!) no self serve coffee. Great location
Rated as a five star hotel, it does not quite measure up as such for me. Our room was adequate, but small and nondescript. It is conveniently located and some say the best there is in this city. The hotel staff spoke English and tried to be helpful.
Centrally located with good amenities. Has good rooms with comfortable ambiance. The breakfast is good. Has a lot of food locations in the surrounding. The service staff speak good English. The place is value for money.
