This hotel would have had a perfect rating if it were not for one issue. Some of the staff in the 3 different restaurants are not the most knowledgeable or hard working. It could be part of the so called charm of "island time" but sometimes I was frustrated with the customer service. However, if ...
This is a slightly above average hotel. Like 3.1 stars. My second floor room, located on the south side near the end of a V shaped wing, was OK. The view from inside was OK (misc trees) but the view from the walkway outside my door was dismal. There are several ugly, industrial looking structures ...
Rooms are fantastics, pool small but you don´t need more. The private beach is small but great, you can do snorkel there with a lot of fish. Food is very good and expensive (but everything is expensive in seychelles). Staff does evertyhing to help you
We honeymooned at Kempinski, having never been to the Seychelles, and having never splurged on a 5-star resort experience. Beyond the expected impeccable grounds, facilities, and beachside location, we were floored by how helpful Kempinski's whole cadre of staff were. When we needed a rental car, ...
Watch out for harmless but disturbing flies. Come in hundreds (no exaggeration) into your room unless you take precautions with sunset. Unfortunately, the hotel does little to alleviate this problem. Had to ask for extra towels to cover the door gaps. The food quality is average, make sure they understand ...

After reading other reviews we decided to take a chance on Sunset Beach Hotel. We are glad we did. It is true that the condition of the resort is past its heyday and it could use some repairs and updating. However, consider that you are getting a great bargain on a great location and a resort that is just a little past its prime. In it's prime, perhaps 10-15 years ago, it must have been a very swanky resort. The natural materials have aged a bit. A few shells are missing from the decorations in the bathroom. The marble isn't quite as shiny as it would have been new. The patio furniture upholstery has faded. Still these details did not reduce our enjoyment. The staff were very friendly, especially Theo and the other servers in the restaurant. The restaurant literally hangs over the rocky shore and our room had a private patio that overlooked the Indian Ocean. Prices at the restaurant were comparable with other restaurants in Seychelles. The snorkeling just down the stairs at Sunset Beach is great with good corals and a school of eagle rays that apparently lives in the cove. Beau Vallon is just down the road a few minutes by car with a couple of decent restaurants and another beach and a dive shop. Overall a very good experience for the money.
Stayed there for one night before our flight out the following morning. Friendly staff, nice view and clean rooms. Good value. Had dinner there and it was good. Our flight left early the next morning so we were going to miss the free breakfast, so they provided a fruit plate and juices for us the night before. Would recommend. No problems at all.
We honeymooned at Kempinski, having never been to the Seychelles, and having never splurged on a 5-star resort experience. Beyond the expected impeccable grounds, facilities, and beachside location, we were floored by how helpful Kempinski's whole cadre of staff were. When we needed a rental car, they had us covered. When we wanted tips on eating and recreating outside the hotel, they had us covered. When we locked our keys in the rental car miles on the other side of the island, they took care of it without judgment. When I asked to borrow nail clippers they were happy to oblige. When I asked for something to jerry-rig a tie to my GoPro, they came up with a solution. They were more than happy to take care of restaurant reservations, exchange decommissioned Seychelles rupees, mail out our postcards, and accommodate our changing plans throughout the trip. Perhaps, most importantly, it was all with such enthusiasm and compassion. We would recommend this resort on the basis of the staff's professionalism, expertise, and friendliness alone.
This hotel would have had a perfect rating if it were not for one issue. Some of the staff in the 3 different restaurants are not the most knowledgeable or hard working. It could be part of the so called charm of "island time" but sometimes I was frustrated with the customer service. However, if I requested a manager to help facilitate the fixing of issues, the managers that I encountered were excellent. Otherwise, the Savoy is great. I recommend getting half board - breakfast and dinner.
