Stayed for a night as we were flying out of Geneva, and all the hotels in central Geneva had sky-high prices. We did half a day of sightseeing in Geneva, and half a day of sightseeing in Montreux. Location wise, it is 6 stops by train from Geneva station, and is rather convenient, as it is located right at Versoix station. The hotel would provide a transport card which allows you to travel to and fro and within Geneva for free. But transport from Versoix onwards is not included. Bonus was the free shuttle service "between 7 am and 10 am and between 5:30 pm and 9 pm" - our flight was in the evening, and we managed to book the shuttle service at short notice.
Welcoming hotel, pleasant, helpful staff, easy to get to using public transport, modern rooms. Wide range of foods for breakfast from the usual bacon to super fresh fruit, nuts, something for everyone, bean to cup coffee. Excellent, proper chef who creates delicious food for lunch and dinner, wide range of choices on the menu. Dining room overlooking Lake Geneva.
Room Type: Family Suite +: lots of space, big balcony, beautiful views, train station right behind property, quick train ride into Geneva, cafe next door, free breakfast buffet, free luggage storage, free public transportation tickets, free airport shuttle, kind staff -: only one desk fan with no A/C, not much in walking distance
From the outside the hotel looks modern and welcoming. The reception area is bright and clean. The receptionist may be efficient but they lack any welcoming warmth and seem to be going through the motions. You are being processed! The room was modern but very small and offered no facilities at all. No coffee or tea making, no fridge and a very poor selection of English language programs on the television. The temperature in our room was 24.7C, when asked about air conditioning the 'matter of fact now go away answer' was that the hotel does not have or need aircon because of its design. At well over £150 a night, breakfast at £25 extra and parking adding around £20 a night, this is not value for money. Although the location is nice, Versoix is a suburb of Geneva it is not in Geneva and offers little in the way of local facilities. Overpriced and definately a one off stay.
We booked a 2 nights stay in this hotel for 2 adults knowing that the entire city of Geneva had all its hotel fully booked because of a conference. As soon as we arrived at the hotel we explained to the blonde receptionist that we are actually 3 but only 2 are going to stay in the room as the third one was carried by an ambulance to HUG for not feeling well 2 days prior tp our booking at this place. So we had to explain her that the 3rd person may get discharged and will have to join us for the last night in this 2 adults ONLY bedroom and she told us that adding a 3rd person was “forbidden” and “illegal” .. seriously? I mean its just a room not a cannabis! We requested to pay an whole night fees just to have him in our room for 1 NIGHT ONLY as all the hotels were booked! He is only 17 y/o autistic boy who would join his mother & sister in that room but that inhuman person working at the reception was the worst person we’d ever meet in switzerland. Eventually we had to checkout a day before our checkout date because it is impossible to keep our 17y/o autistic child sleeping in the street alone! So luckily we were able to find a one last room at the Four Seasons Geneva that costed us almost 2500 CHF for 1 night and we had no regrets to not book it or otherwise we would’ve slept outdoor because of a stubborn lady that has gone beyond inhumanity because of a room in a 3 stars hotel that forbids more than 2 adults in it even when the 3rd person is autistic and was hospitalized for 5 days ! I have once read a review from a British lady complaining that she was forced to get a second room because the 3rd person was her 6 years old child and their booked room accommodates 2 adults only. I never took her review into my accounts but after my very own experience I can say that this is the worst hotel in the country where people come to learn etiquette! This hotel is a trap and so thank you very much for the most rubbish experience ever
The Lake Geneva Hotel is wonderful modern hotel located just outside Geneva. We took the free train service from the airport and it took around 20 mins and it makes much more sense than the 55$ taxi ride.We had a direct lake view room and it was really nice. The one draw back with this hotel is the cooling system.Luckily when we there the temperatures in Geneva were around 72f high in the day so the room temps were fine but if I were travelling in July or August I probably would not stay at this hotel. The AC is nonfunctional. Please listen to the other negative reviews about the cooling system but if travelling in cooler months this hotel will be great.
I booked this hotel last minute and it was totally fine. The location is perfect. It is right by the train, next to the co-op grocery store, and is on the lake. The best thing about this hotel is the lake view and outdoor area where you can relax and decompress after a long day. I must say that the rooms were small, but nice. I had a great bay window to rest on and the shower was solid. Breakfast was delicious, well-appointed, buffet-style, so I definitely recommend doing that if you are on a work trip and don't have time. The only reason I gave 3 instead of a 4 is that the staff was just not friendly. Anytime I asked a question, I felt like I was bothering someone based on their dismissive attitude. Another thing I found odd is that when I asked about an adapter (mine was not working) to borrow, they told me to go buy one at the grocery (which I did) because they do not loan them out; but when I was checking out, two of the guests returned adapters to them! Hmmmm. At the end of the day, I simply did not feel welcomed, and was very ready to go at the time of check-out.
Stayed here for two nights and would 100% recommend. The staff were professional and extremely polite. The rooms have panoramic-style views of the lake with a seating area/sofa for you to enjoy it. It's 15 minutes by train to Geneva from Versoix (2 mins walk from the hotel). Would massively recommend a day trip to Annency too - one of the most stunning little towns we've been to. It's an hour from Geneva, into France, and a medieval town that will take your breath away1
By far, our best hotel in Switzerland. Every room has a fantastic view of Lake Geneva! We had a family room that had a balcony and we could not have been happier with the lay out. We were traveling with our children, ages 6 and 8, so it was really nice that there was a dividing wall between our beds and theirs. We could put them to sleep on one side and stay up, watch TV, etc. on our side with out keeping them awake. The bathroom was also very well layed out - the toilet had a privacy wall so someone could use the toilet and the rest of the family still had access to the bathroom. It was clean and modern. The hotel was very quiet, with a restaurant. We were given free public transportation cards to use during our stay. The tram stop was just across the street - so convenient and very easy to navigate. We had dinner at a fabulous restaurant right across the walkway called Bolero - it was so good, we went there the next night as well! We had breakfast at a bakery also right across the walkway that had lovely pastries and coffee at half the price of the hotel breakfast. The location was excellent, the hotel was clean, modern and comfy and it was a great value!
We love staying at this hotel and even the noise from the road works did not spoil our enjoyment. Easy access to the beach, lake and harbour in Versoix or easy access to Geneva and other places. The train station sits literally at the back door of the hotel but the noise from the trains are not intrusive. Rooms are all air conditioned and well appointed. It is worth paying extra for a lake view room. Not to mention the fabulous coffee shop that sits conveniently next to the hotel. delicious cooked breakfast on offer as well at hotel.
