Hotel Antares4.0 out of 5.0

I am very disappointed with my last tour with Europa Tours - Lago di Garda & the Dolomites from 2nd to 9th September 2017. When we arrived at the Hotel Antares Sport, Beauty & Spa - 4 star – Villa Franca, Verona, and the keys of the rooms were distributed, we went to our allocated room finding that the room was already occupied. Luckily that the guests were not there! When I went to complain the receptionist, she told me that it is not possible that the room was occupied. Then one of her colleagues (I guess she was her supervisor) asked what is the matter and she told her about the room in question. Her colleague then told her that the room is occupied! The receptionist then just gave me another room without even excusing herself!! What good manners eh!! The room (we complained with the hotel and not with the tour leader as this is an issue to be resolved with the hotel, but nothing happened): - Jacuzzi not working - We wanted some extra clothes hangers as we had only 4 between 2 persons. The day after they brought us another 4!!!! So how can we use 8 hangers for 7 nights when I personally had 12 shirts! - Water flowing from underneath the bath - We cannot open the windows because if we do, green insects will come inside - No place to place the toilet paper and even anything inside the shower One of our friend’s room lacked a shower curtain. When we complained they said that they will take care of it, but nothing happened till the last day Food: It was stated even in the brochure, that there will be a choice of menu every day, but this was not the case. Just one type of food was served. The only time that there was some sort of choice is when we complained that most of the kids did not like what was offered and the day after we had a choice of hamburgers and turkey! When the hotel prepared some chicken nuggets and the headwaiter went around the tables offering to the kids and adults, he was sarcastic, not to mention that we were promised soup and one evening soap was not available. Other matters: Service with a smile does not exist in this hotel. On Thursday when it was raining instead of placing carpets to avoid flooding in certain areas of the hotel, towels were used!!!! On Friday during breakfast there was no toaster available for us to use as this was being used by a group of footballers. When we complained, we were told that we cannot use as this was exclusively to be used for the footballers only!!!!! What a shame eh!
4* someone's having a laugh and it wasn't us. Came with National Holidays supposedly to Lake Garda but at the last minute were told we'd been upgraded to another 4* hotel nearby. For a start it was nowhere near Lake Garda but in the middle of an industrial site miles away. On arrival we were shunted (like the cattle next door) through - no luggage porters especially for the very elderly couple in the party who were totally confused as to where to go. Managed to find our room via a dark creepy corridor so dimly lit my sister in law fell over the lip where the carpet met the floor tiles. Room ok but could have been cleaner. Asked for another pillow which was promptly provided but on further inspection was found to be brown and stained. Wouldnt have let my dog sleep on it!! No tea or coffee making facilities in the room but we brought our own and an electric water heater with us which burnt out and started smoking right under the smoke alarm which horrifyingly never emitted a peep. OMG!!! Next, the food if you could call it that. SAME slop day in day out with 2 heat settings -lukewarm and clock cold and tasteless (wouldnt have given my dog that either) Slimmers paradise!!! Had to pay for water at mealtimes and despite asking 4 times one night never did get any. Staff rushed and inexperienced even rude at times including the one in charge on reception who didnt give a toss when we complained. On the plus side the pool was lovely (on the one day we were allowed to use it) as was the outside terrace by the bar and the girls who served there were great. Best of the lot. In conclusion i would say this place needs a massive refurb or demolishing altogether. If you find yourself in need of some where to lay your head avoid this place and bring a tent!!!
I was booked to stay in lake Garda on a coach holiday with national coaches we found out today that un be known to us all on the coach we were no longer staying at lake Garda but staying at this hell hole both myself and brother paid a single supplement to stay in what I can only describe as a coffin room it looks like a standard room divided into 4 singles. it's awful cold and claustrophobic. I have also had to share my room with dung beetles ive attached a photo in 3 days ive had 7 of them .the place as in other reviews appears to be in an industrial site stinks of silage which also smells around the inside of the hotel. the food served tonight was absolutely disgusting cold uncooked veg pale to raw cold chips watery soup and of a very poor standard. flies all over the food and not a drink of water or tea coffee served with the meal.i can honestly say this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I am well travelled.i would also make the point of mentioning national holidays will be having to deal with 36 very angry people on a holiday booked as staying on the shores of lake Garda to find out we are 1.5 hrs away and the customer relations haven't had the decency to reply to customer complaints.i think I would rather have stayed in a tent on the shores of lake Garda than staying here.
Who gave this dump a 4 star rating ?. It is sited outside of an industrial town with a derelict building next door . Your are met before the reception door with a green patch of artificial grass matting curling up at edges and a large orange drain pipe stacked by slabs to drain water onto the dirty car park. STAFF at reception were inexperienced , unhelpful on check., Room allocated was officelike with no balcony,, a phone that did not work and a security safe not attached to the wall but dumped on a shelf .The room floor was dirty with dust ,,bathroom the same ,towels were as thin as bedsheets. Meals in the restaurant were the same every day and Bland This hotel(?) Requires some serious overhaul and maintenance issues., Management and staff to be retrained in all aspects of how to run a hotel properly. It is very unlikely I will ever return .
We were supposed to have been given this hotel as a replacement for our original hotel on shores of lake garda. We were assured it was an upgrade . What a joke. Arrogant ,ignorant staff. Totally run down hotel geared as a stop overnight hotel, we were dumped there for 7 nights . In the middle of an industrial site off a main road, surrounded by fields of cows . Supposedly 4 star but wouldn't even give it a star rating. Food left out covered in flies , no choice of food and no tea or coffee facilities after breakfast for the day. Worst place I have ever stayed in all my years of extensive travels
I was travelling with a coach trip of people, so this was not my own choice of hotel and I was only staying for one night but from the 4* rating I wasn't exactly expecting the experience to be an uncomfortable one. We arrived at the hotel and we were checked in with our keys, our group of around 40 travellers were told to go and get the lift which was in another part of the building. But instead of being led to this lift, we spent around 30 minutes looking for it and when we did find it, it could only fit around two people inside with their suitcases. So a lot of us walked up 3 or 4 flights of stairs to get to our rooms lugging our bags with us. The room itself was okay, the toilet was modern but for some reason had a phone affixed to the wall with duct tape... The internet connection was patchy and didn't work for most of the night. My pillow had some stains and was not properly cleaned (luckily there was a spare in the wardrobe). Before I went to sleep I found a dead bug next to my bed. The room itself did not look bad, it was okay but definitely needs some closer inspection of cleaning. Did not sleep too well in this room though. The breakfast itself was quite good, a fair amount to choose from, strangely including a lot of cakes and pastries in the morning (not going to complain about dessert in the morning though to be honest) but service was awful. Our group of travellers were all shoved into a corner of the dining room by shouting and rudeness, it was quite upsetting to wake up to. The waiters and waitresses constantly yelled at our group even when we were sat down where they told us to sit. We had to unnecessarily share tables with people we did not know well. They grouped all people 'from China' into this corner which was odd and an uncomfortable way of doing things, it felt like they were corralling animals into a pen. There was confusion and upset. This easily could have been done with some placards or just a sign to point us in the right direction, it was a rude awakening and we all left the place in a poor mood. A lot of us wanted to get more food but rather than face the servers decided to go hungry instead. The pool looks nice (we were not allowed to go in it) and the building's exterior is okay but they must have directed us to an older part of the hotel since the place we stayed in was not so pleasant. Unfortunately not a good experience. Would not recommend.
Together with my family and friends we booked this hotel through a company from Malta and our mistake was that we did not check the reviews before we booked. However seeing that it is a four star holtel we never imagined that such four star hotel existed in 2017. The first thing about this hotel is that it is not in a very good location as it is far from the city and other shops. It is also near a farm as the smell around the hotel makes it obvious. The hotel in itself is very nice and the rooms are ok but at first we were given a small room and my kids had to sleep on a sofa bed but after we complained they switched the rooms and gave us a good one with a real bad. Considering the money we spent for a week my kids deserved a real bad for their holiday. The staff at the restaurant is VERY unfriendly and makes you feel un welcomed, the give you the feeling that you are an intruder who intruded their space to eat their food!!! But to be fair during the whole week we saw the same faces in the restaurant so in a way I felt sorry for them as I think they are burned out and overwork their staff. The food in the restaurant is BAD, nearly always the same and very little to choose from and to make it even worse if it is not eaten you will have it the leftovers the day after. However on a positive note the hotel have a very nice pool area and a very big pool but stil it does not compensate for the bad sevice.
I am a student who went to this hotel on a educational visit so I did not have a choice of staying here unlike some people writing reviews who have. As we booked this hotel with them knowing a large group of students would be staying here, you would've thought they would be friendly and helpful however the service us as students got was dreadful. - Our rooms were filthy with uncleaned floors, dressers and bedside tables marked with stains, scratches and dents everywhere especially in the wardrobe. The cleaners did a terrible job in our rooms as all they did was empty the bin, make the bed sheets slightly presentable but never changed them and only replaced the towels if there was 1 or none left unused. - The food was the exact same each day and tasted disgusting for example, uncooked pasta and salad drenched in chemicals. - We decided to use the tables outside the bar to sketch; our tutor was giving us instructions but the immature, petty staff turned the music up so loud we couldn't hear her and a few minutes later we got kicked out. We then got moved into reception (this was only for our use which was very helpful during our stay) but as there wasn't enough tables, we leaned on the reception desk but was later shouted at by 2 intimidating staff members and security to move because we were stealing stuff even tho we were just standing there - the rest of the staff was as rude as these were. - The lift was tiny and unsafe, the free wifi didn't work and the pool was crowded. In conclusion, I highly recommend you never go here if you want an enjoyable holiday.
I have been there this weekend with my colleagues on a business trip. The lift was not working, no wifi, bad restaurant and poor service besides no complimentay shuttle bus to thr city centre. I've asked for one umbrella because it was pouring rain and the hotel did not even have a spare one. It has 4 stars but 2 or maximum (!) 3 would be the real rating. Cleaning good, but not safety box.
if u look for a place with no service, incompetent and unfriendly staff, then you're fine at this hotel. the pool is crowded with non-hotel guests, the restaurant is only open at special times, nothing else is in the area if you are hungry, your only chance is the petrol station or the supermarket which is walking distance but not necessarily near-by. but after having tasted the breakfast that is arranged nicely, but tastes awful and is hardly eatable, I am quite happy that I went to the supermarkt to get me something in the afternoon instead of waiting 4h till dinner time. the staff doesn't speak a foreign language, nor does it have a clue what service in a 4* hotel means. i will for sure never ever go there again and I can only advise other people to stay as far away as possible from this place. When I spoke to the taxi driver (actually the free shuttle to the airport only exists in theory and the receptionist is unable to call a taxi even though you go there 30 minutes prior to your departure and ask them to call one the staff hasn't managed to pick up the phone in time, the girl simply forgot to do it and called when I came to leave for the airport) well anyway the taxidriver told me that I am the 5th person in 3 days telling him that this hotel is unbearable. so this isn't only my personal impression.
