We stayed in Avignon for a few days and found this hotel to be well run, pleasant and in a really convenient location. It is only about five minutes from the train station and on the main road leading to the most significant attractions, such as the Palce of the Popes and the famous bridge. The rooms were clean, the breakfast good and the bar very satisfactory. The staff spoke good English and were very friendly.
room was adequate but it soon became apparent it was infested with mosquitoes, being close to the river. Take care if you have a room at the back of the hotel, not all room are ensuite and the bathrooms can be on different floors. an aqequate cheap hotel if no where else is available , but you are better off elsewhere
The Bristol is located within the Avignon walls but very close to the gate opposite the station, so access/egress was easy (in spite of the roadworks for the new tram system) but everything in the town was within walking distance. Rooms and amenities were fine and the staff extremely helpful (in both French and English!). Breakfast was to a very high standard with both hot and cold options kept well stocked throughout the generous breakfast period. We would certainly book again when re-visiting Avignon,
Nice hotel situated near the city center. It has an underground parking which you must reserve prior to your arrival. Rooms were clean and confortable. The breakfast was standard. They have a good selection of local wines that you can buy from the lobby. Overall good value for the money.
We were travelling through this area with some friends and stayed overnight. The hotel staff are very friendly and the Bristol is ideally located for a walk around the town and visiting the bridge. The lack of restaurant is no problem as you are only a few minutes walk away from a wide choice of places to eat. Car parking is easy as they operate a very efficient valet parking service. Why only four stars, well I am very hard to please !!
I spent 6 nights here on my own in a twin room overlooking the main road. It was comfortable and clean. The ensuite bathroom is huge and also has a window but there is no shower curtain or hook to hold the shower head high so I regularly soaked the floor. No individual toiletries except soap and a large dispenser of shampoo/shower gel. Towels changed daily. Breakfasts good with lovely range of bread. Staff helpful and friendly with good English. Conveniently located about 300m from the station
Great location and I wished we'd spent more than one night here. The rooms were great and spacious. The free breakfast was great and the mural in the lobby is beautiful. If you do come to Avigon (and you should) stay here. Easily within walking distance to the square and Palais des Papes.
My travel buddy and I initially chose the Bristol Hotel for its location (within easy walking of the train station and town center) and its highly recommendations in a number of travel books. What you can never know in advance, though, is how friendly and/or helpful you will find the hotel staff. Every person we spoke with (mostly in English but sometimes in VERY limited French ) greeted us with a smile and was very helpful when asked for restaurant recommendations, etc. The breakfast included everything we could hope for, and the servers were very nice. They also have a convenient bar adjacent to the lobby and were willing to serve us right up to its closing time when we decided to finish our evening with a digestivo (after dinner drink). In summary: great location, clean/updated rooms, helpful staff and all-around nice experience.
We stayed here for a week, at the end of September 2017, as part of a Rail Discoveries group and had a great time. The hotel is close to the ordinary train station, so you can make trips from there (note, it is about 20 minutes drive from the TGV for Eurostar trains). It is in a great location, within the walls of Avignon, close to all the main attractions, restaurants, cafes, museums, etc., etc. The staff are just lovely! All very friendly, kind and helpful (special mention to the lovely lady in the breakfast room - she brightened our mornings, as did all the staff really!). The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We asked for a quietly located room, as some of the rooms are on the main road, which I imagine could be a bit noisy. They do not do lunches or dinners, so far as I know, but they are attached to a pizzeria sort of restaurant, which also does other foods, such as salads, lasagnes, etc., which is very handy. Am happy to recommend this hotel - central to everything you could want in Avignon and good all round.
Hotel itself - 4/5. Great location within the city walls, but near enough to the train station that we didn't have to lug our bags through the city centre. The hotel is on the main street leading to the main square and everything was a ten minute walk away at most. The staff on the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Avignon is not a cheap city to eat in and it saved us a lot of money and time filling up every morning before setting out. Room - 3/5. The room was quiet and a good enough size but unfortunately the air conditioning was simply not powerful enough and the room (in 35 degree August) always felt too warm. I killed two mosquitos that I could see during our stay but myself and my partner would often wake up with fresh bite marks. If the air-con worked properly they would have stayed out of the bedroom.
