Pros: Beautifully and whimsically decorated. Cons: Showing wear and tear (e.g. patches on walls where clothes hooks have fallen off). Smell from shower drain when we arrived (eliminated after I ran the shower and flushed the drain with water). At this price point, property should be better kept.

Had a great stay overall. The room was spotless and just as nice as it looked in the photos. The grounds were lovely, and the breakfast was excellent. Also the staff were very polite, professional and responsive to every request.

This bed and breakfast has the largest private garden in Avignon. The staff was amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The property has been totally renovated with beautiful antiques and a whimsical touch. The home is surrounded by a green oasis in the middle of the walled city.

I highly recommend this unique property if you are traveling to Avignon or the surrounding area. It’s a surprising garden oasis in the middle of a medieval walled city. The staff was extremely accommodating with dining recommendations and made sure they were available whenever needed. They welcomed us as if we were staying in their very own home. Dorian went above and beyond!

Absolutely fantastic!

This is one of the most wonderful and comfortable places I have ever stayed. The property is beautiful, the rooms are very large (even by US standards), the breakfast was fantastic, but the people were beyond all expectations. Henri, Veldi, Dominique, and Norwin (the folks who manage and run the place) are the most wonderful, welcoming, friendly and kind people you will meet as a traveler. Truly an exceptional visit. There are no downsides. Just fantastic.

After arriving by train we walked up the barren narrow street to a 15 ft medieval door. We pulled a small lever and within a minute someone opened it. We stepped into a literal Oasis. The temperature dropped instantly by about 5 degrees. We were greeted by Dorian…. Who proceeded to welcome us with a drink and tell us about our beautiful home for the next 3 days. We were shown to our suite the “Aphrodite” which had a private large terrace and a small side attached bedroom for our 11 yr old daughter. The air conditioning was sublime as France was in the middle of a heat wave…. temp was 37- 39 degrees. The morning breakfast in the gardens near the refreshing pool was delicious and perfect. The location of the Hotel is 5 min from the Papal palace and everything else in Avignon. I would love to come back here in a heartbeat on our next trip to France. The Divine comedie is one of the best boutique Hotels we have stayed at anywhere in the world

An oasis in central Avignon

Truly an exceptional place. The house and our room (Naples) was like a dream. Even in winter where the outdoor facilities (pool etc) are not usable, there's nothing negative to say. It was worth the expense.

We loved that the property was a quiet oasis from the busy-ness once outside the walls. It was hard to believe this beautiful town of Avignon was right out side the entry doors. The staff was more than accommodating and helpful. We loved the house dog! We will recommend this place to our friends and hope to return someday!

A perfect hotel, a dream

La Divine Comédie is a perfect small luxury boutique hotel. The decoration is incredible and unique. It feels, it is, someone's incredible home that just happens to take guests. Amaury couldn't be more lovely--making sure you know the best restaurants, where you are, the best museums and shopping. Gilles, the co-owner found us wine and cheese at the end of an evening. The garden is a place of perfect tranquil peace--the largest private garden in Avignon with a pool that is a perfect temperature and a bird gazebo with love birds and mourning doves. The breakfast is delicious--the mango melts in your mouth. And on top of everything they have an incredible dog, adorable and perfectly behaved and if you ask Amaury he will introduce you to the two perfectly behaved cats (who stay away from customers) if you have allergies. This is just a perfect hotel. You couldn't ask for anything more.

Wow ! What more can I say. We loved our stay or should I say our experience here. This will be one of those places that we will always remember. La Divine Comedie- 10 stars. Situated in the old part of Avignon , walking distance to everything worthwhile seeing. The hosts Amaury and Gilles welcomed us with open arms. and their dog D'Toule kept us entertained.We do not want to leave!

A quiet, lush and elegant retreat nestled within the heart of Avignon. This is the true definition of a townhome situated within a few feet from the Palais de Papes and within a plethora of Michelin starred restaurants available at your very fingertips. The property is a design oasis, a perfect blend of old and new. Warning: you will not want to part with this property as Aumery, along with his gray home, gray dog and gray cat will lure you into contemplating abandoning your current life in lieu of a permanent stay in one of his and business partner/visionary Gilles romantic suites.

Highly recommend. This is the most beautiful property we have stayed in. Large rooms with lovely decor. Comfortable beds with soft linen. The bathroom is large with a bath and separate shower. Large soft towels. Delicious breakfast. Excellent service. Great location in the old town but in a quiet and peaceful setting. Perfect.
