Spent 3 nights here. An oasis in the heart of Varese. Beautiful facilities. The patio bar is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views of the lake and the mountains from almost every room. The terrace dining room is charming with views over Lake Varese
We stayed here for two nights during a business and pleasure trip with friends. The view from the rooms and the scenery is unique and breathtaking! The hotel looks indeed like an old style palace. On the other hand the hotel needs some serious renovation done both in common places and in rooms.Definitely not soundproof rooms and there was not an option for cold/warm on air conditioning. The hotel's bar unfortunately doesn't work most of the time if you want to drink something and the room service works from 7-10 only!!!The food on the restaurant, both breakfast and lunch, were ok but unfortunately a soft drink we ordered was expired 6 months ago....Of course the whole staff was very helpful and polite and despite our requests were out of "time" they served us with smile!Congratulations and thank you for their professionalism!! The view of the lake and the mountain of course makes your stay much better and gives and leaved a sweet taste of the Northern Italy!!
A late-night recommendation from a pizzeria server in Luino turned out to be a great surprise. I confirmed their last room over the telephone and arrived one hour later. We were pleasantly surprised by this "find". The hotel boasts a rich history with a lot of architectural elegance. The setting of the property is wonderful on top of a hill in the middle of Varese. The sport court and modest outdoor swimming pool were great for our child. The room was very comfortable and spacious with an amazing view of the valley and lakes below. The breakfast was above average, but a much better dinner could be found a short distance away in the old town of Varese below. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional allowing us to easily extend our reservation and offered a late check out.
Stayed here for 7 nights. The hotel is beautiful, spacious and full of character from a bygone era. Our room was on the 5th floor with a stunning view of varese lake. The room was big, clean and very comfortable with a huge double bed. We must extend our thanks to Claudia on reception for arranging a taxi to collect us from the train station when we got stuck without transport. Claudia was our Angel ! All of the staff go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome, relaxed and ensure everything runs smoothly. It was a pleasure to stay at such a well run establishment. Highly recommended.
Sleeping in a castle with amazing view on the lake. On top of a hill so you need a car or bike. Spacious room, good bed, bathroom with shower in bath. Water comes from 3 points, 2 showers and a tap :-( Breakfast room with good view, coffee from a machine, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bread and cookies. Good place for a dinner. Parking next to the castle. Nice to walk in the park. Swimmingpool closed and dirty, no space to lie next to the pool.
We stayed many different times in this hotel. my husband loves to stay on the corner room om the 3rd floor. The hotel is a historial building, a bit old but well maintained. We loved "Marco" the waiter who does other jobs also, he is very attemptive, fun and courteus staff. we keep coming back and asking for him , he is always there , from many years ! Really a great location on the top of a hill close to downtown ! we recommend it !
Excellent location, worth a trip just to visit it. You will live few days in a "debut du siecle XX Grand Hotel " Excellent room, friendly and professional personnel both at the restaurant, reception and room service. I enjoied a nice dinner, excellent service.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night this week. The hotel is set in a beautiful park on a hill. I is a beautiful hotel but has seen better days. The outside has not been maintained which is not a surprise due to the low prices for the rooms. The staff was very welcoming and the room was rennovated and had a very pleasant feel to it. We dined at this hotel as well and were very happy with our meal which was well prepared.
This is a very grand hotel on top of a hill. It's a little old and jaded and is probably past its best. That said it is still grand. The rooms are spacious and clean, the breakfast is very good and the staff are fantastic. I would have loved to have stayed here in its hayday. They have a free shuttle to the town which I never tried but if you don't Like walking hills you will need it. Some of the views especially from the restaurant are fantastic. It's also situated I a lovely part of the world.
The Palace Grand Hotel was one of the highlights to my trip to northern Italy. Although Varese is usually not on the list of tourist destinations, it was an amazing addition to my trip to Milan. Truly, as other reviews have stated, it is worth visiting Varese just to stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious with comfortable beds and a stunning view of the town and the lake. The bar and common areas were grand palatial rooms and the staff were extremely helpful. Also, make sure to contact the hotel and arrange a transfer to and from the town center as they offer a very comfortable Mercedes van and a driver for your convenience.
