I was there with all the family for 3 days in May to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was excellent and the place lovely. The room was big with a nice view on the garden and the green area that is all around. The staff was very kind, especially the director Carlo who was always there to help. They even prepared an ad-hoc cake for our anniversary! We had dinner at the bistrot and food was excellent and presented in a very scenographic way. Definitely a place to go!
A beautiful and charming place filled with family , history and elegant touch! you will never be disappointed by the atmosphere and warm welcome of its people ! perfect for a friends or family gathering or professional retreat !
The service steht the reception was very bad, especially the woman. TV without German channel is a no go in these days. The swimming pool was not clean and no umbrella, no towels and no confortable sun beds. Bad service at The Bar and no service at the pool
Nice place, romantic surroundings, efficiently modernized rooms and bathrooms, extremely nice and friendly atmosphere.. Nice and ample Breakfast buffet, Swimming pool was not very clean. Excellent Service and helpful personnel.
This was actually on an old palace and is converted to Commercial Hotel great place to stay at at countryside and lovely ancient rooms basic amenities are available and breakfast was OK. as it is huge the management could provide WiFi facility only at the reception.
Rich Italian history, built to last. This beautiful villa - the vacation house of Count Porro, later the Pirelli Family - offers you just a glimpse into a life which most people have never experienced. Breakfast is offered in large, but still "cozy" room, filled with white tableclothes, silver and glass - everything under the exquisitely painted ceiling and small balconies overlooking the tables. A spacious ballroom downstairs for celebrations, upstairs beauty in every corner, including a restaurant with amply wine supply and varied menu. Rooms are comfortable and spacious offering real wood decor with historical content positively overshadowing the modern facilities. A large balcony awaits, including pool and gartens. A quiet atmosphere, beautiful environment - a wonderful choice for a personal celebration or even business event. For the price of our rooms, we were pleasantly surprised. The exceptional attitude of each of the staff, all the way from top management to the people cleaning our rooms, each a pleasant, unique person with character. Nothing is perfect - surely there are things I missed, but I was so overwhelmed with the beauty and the openess of the staff, I just didn't care about what was missing or not perfect.
Came here out of season and was quite cold and quiet but staff were still very helpful showing us the local attractions and roads to use. They also pointed out the best restaurants, the restaurant in the hotel is also excellent!! The waiter who served us was very jolly and funny, even though he didn't speak a lot of English. The food here was some of the best I have ever eaten, proper gourmet food with a good use of the local, seasonal produce. The staff at the hotel spoke very good English, among other languages, as there were Swiss staying too. Views from the room weren't all that, but the views from the whole complex and mainly the garden were absolutely beautiful, even when foggy or dark. The room was spectacular, very very big bed which was great, the bathroom was very clean and always well-kept. This includes the cleaning service. They have a massage shower, it is good. It was a great night's sleep every night, no noise
A charming, quirky and clean hotel. Good breakfast and very helpful day-time receptionist - proved to be an excellent location for our first visit to the Italian Lakes especially Lakes Como, Maggiore and Lugano. There is a Lindt factory outlet only 5 minutes from the hotel (great for chocaholics!), a 28km 'flat" cycle route round Lake Varese and the Sacro Monte Di Varese is well worth a visit. The best way to see Lake Maggiore is to drive to Santa Catarina on the East shore. There is plentiful parking and a ferry goes every half an hour to Stresa where you can do the Borromean Islands, go up the cable car plus other excursions. Lake Garda is doable from the hotel but is a long drive.
I stayed here at a reduced price ( Offer form Travelbird) so the quality/price ratio was excellent. If you like stytlish old houses oozing in character set in lovely gardens with tranquility, then this is the place. Breakfast was amazing with so much choice and lovely setting. It is close to the Italian town of Varese . Lugano is a lovely lake ( switzerland)and my favourite village was Mocate, a dreamy place and when you climb to the church through the medieval narrow streets, you have a spectacular view over the lake. Lugano is a fashionable and stylish Swiss town with lovely promenade along the lake.
The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful - delivering additional pillows to our room on request and ensuring the kitchen stayed open for us to eat on out first night, as we arrived late evening. The room was clean and the views breathtaking - the grounds were stunning and provided a tranquil place to relax and unwind. Breakfast was decent with a variety of hot and cold options available (the pan au chocolate were amazing)! This is definitely a hotel to return to - highly recommended.
