The staff were great, very helpful on sourcing places to eat. Room was good clean and provided all you needed. Although just off the highway it was still quite enough to get a good nights sleep. No breakfast but the rate for the room was very good. Happy to recommend to others and to stay there again.
I booked a room here on our way back from vacation in BC. The room was easily average at best and there was definitely no little extra effort on the hotel's behalf to to in any way make their establishment stand out in the eyes of their guests. The room smeĺled a little stale when we first walked in, we were missing a screen on our window, and webs and debris covered the exterior stairwell up to the 2nd floor up to our rooms. The majority of the rooms we noted later in the evening were occupied by crews working in the area. If I good back, I will look at alternate accommodations for my stay, even though the price is reasonable.
We stayed at this hotel because it is right on the highway. It is an average hotel, nothing fancy. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. We were in a two bedroom suite and they only had a tv in the living room area, so no tv for mom and dad. :-( However, it was quiet and clean, which was nice. The views are pretty good, too.
I got here in McBride late in the evening. The staff was great and the room was clean and had everything I needed. The rate was the best around. Great value. I would recommend this place if you are coming to McBride.
I have stayed here before in one of the ground floor rooms and it was fine...however tonight we have to stay in a suit because of the number of us which is fine...however the carpets are not even vacuumed, the garbages have garbage in them windows are broken and the room smells like stale cigarettes...not worth the 200$ that this room cost... which is sad because I have enjoyed our time in the past...
This is a lovely motel. We are always welcomed and the rooms are very clean. North Country Lodge is very basic but homey. We always request the second floor so that we can see the beautiful mountains. We also like the rooms with what is called a kitchen but it is just a small stove, refrigerator and sink and mugs, dishes, glasses and silverware. Always good for having snacks. We have stayed here many times and will go back again next year.
I've been to McBride on several occasions and decided to try this property over the Sandman Inn for a change. Like the Sandman Inn it's more of a budget hotel where you receive the basic amenities but McBride is a nice little mountain town to explore the area anyway. Would consider this property more of a motel style as all the suites have an exterior entrance. One thing that I would like to point out as I stayed in a corner suite 114 which is on the main floor is it can get noisy with people climbing up and down the stairs and hearing fellow travellers upstairs, etc. Not a major issue for me but something to share for other travellers. For a comparable price I would say the quality of the room is better at this property compared to the Sandman Inn but won't go wrong either way and would recommend it as ia place off of the Yellowhead Highway. You do need to cross the highway to make it to the heart of McBride is another thing to share.
Planned to spend night halfway to home. Booked in advance due to ratings. Was a bit disappointed. Room was good size. Mostly clean. Bathroom was not fully cleaned. Smelled of urine, dirt & garbage behind the bathroom door. Toilet seat fell off. Only 3 towels & 2 face cloths for 3 people. Beds not super comfortable. It is situated on an access road to the highway, but no highway noise which was good. Just noise from a pipe on the air conditioner, sounded like a ticking, this was happening while it was not even running. So we turned on the fan to drown out the noise of the ticking. Price was ok. Older hotel. With fires and evacuation nothing else was available at our time of booking. Like I said before, it had a high ranking so thought it would be a good place to stay. Cleanliness and comfortable bed are highly important to me and both of these were not fulfilled.
This was a modest motel with spacious rooms, a fridge and microwave. There is free wifi and tv. THe room was comfortable and fairly quiet given that it sits just off of the highway. THe service was good and accommodating.
Family 2br. suite is very comfortable with 2 queen bedrooms, a twin bed in a "nook" off the living room, pull out couch and a decent kitchen with full size fridge & stove.. Staff is very friendly, rearranging reservations has never been an issue and they have even called us to check up when we have been late to arrive.
