The best part of this property is how conveniently located it is. Right in the middle of Lionshead Village and within walking distance of the gondola/lift. It's so nice not having to wait for a bus in the morning or having to lug your equipment long distances. The staff was always helpful and friendly. There was a common area with two computers with a free printer to use, which was very nice being about to print our return boarding passes. There was also free underground parking, which was a pleasant surprise. We had rented a 1 bedroom with loft, it was very spacious for our family and had a great view (albeit slightly obstructed) of the mountain. With all that said, here are the negatives: Our room was extremely dated. It could have used a refresh probably around a decade ago. Some of the furniture/cabinetry showed it's apparent age, as did the decorations. There were several locked cabinets throughout the room, and our fireplace did not work. For a daily rate of around $900 a night, I did expect more, but I guess this is Vail after all. I was glad I stayed here though, mostly for the location, but I do wish the condition of the condo would have been a bit better. If they were to take care of that, it would get a 5 star rating from me.
Price, location, and staff assistance were outstanding. The hotel is located within a few steps to a general store, liquor store, ice skating rink, several restaurants, and the ski lifts. Room was spacious and clean.
We stayed here for 7 nights, our room was very nice and spacious and had everything in it that we needed. When people arrived in the room upstairs and they were extremely noisy and loud for our trip and we repeatedly asked the front desk to speak with them, but the noise continued, for the price of the room that's really unacceptable. We also experienced two nights with no hot water for several hours, although they claimed it would be fixed in 30 minutes both nights, it was not. We asked the hotel if there was a gym and there isn't a gym in the hotel, but they provided email confirmation that we would have access to a gym. Halfway through our stay they decided they will no longer provide the gym pass and we had to pay $25 to get into the gym, even though we have confirmation that we would have access. This was not the experience we expected at a very expensive luxury hotel in Vail.
We stayed in condo 317. Check in was a breeze! All staff we spoke to was very professional and friendly. Liked having a secure parking garage for our vehicles. Our view was gorgeous-Vail mountain and the gondolas. Very clean, updated and comfortable. Walking distance (literally just outside the East entrance) to Vail Village. There are lots of dining options just footsteps away. Highly recommended!
The Montanero condominiums are located in Lions Head, walking distance to the slopes, and a short walk or free bus ride to Vail Village. The building is surrounded by restaurants and shops for whatever you may need. The condo I rented had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living room and balcony. Each unit has one covered parking place. It is a great condo with everything you need.
Loved the staff, the location (the downside was that construction was going on across the street on a new hotel/condo place), and our condo was beautifully decorated and updated, spacious, and very comfortable beds with nice linens. We would definitely go back. No washer/dryer in the rooms and the washer/dryers they do have (they provide detergent and dryer sheets) on property don't dry very well. The underground parking was very convenient to get to.
Very spacious one bedroom condo in great location. Shuttle bus stop just out main entrance. Helpful, friendly staff. Walking distance to lifts, shopping, restaurants, ice rink, etc. Our 3rd trip to Vail and best lodging we have had, would stay here again.
Loved Montaneros. Great staff. They were so helpful and always greeted me with a smile. The accommodations were spacious and modern. I made the mistake of booking though Booking.com - I will book direct next time. I plan on returning next year.
We had a 4BR and we very impressed. The location and amenities were fantastic! The only negatives that we found were: no washer/dryer in the units, and exterior elevator and entrance to the units. The walk to the gondola and lift was very short and easy. The equipment room was awesome, complete with boot dryers! We loved Lionshead, and enjoyed Moe's BBQ next door to Montaneros. (Fair warning: they ran out of food by 6:30pm on a holiday weekend!). Also, the underground parking was convenient.
Two of us stayed in #211 which was perfect. Nicely decorated with everything we needed for three days of skiing. Great view of the slopes from the balcony, which overlooks the pool and hot tubs. Walls are thin which was only a problem on our last night when a couple from somewhere nearby (beside or above?) decided to have an argument at 1:00 am. Only negative our whole trip. On a more positive note, Montaneros is steps away from Lions Head restaurants, shopping, ski rental, gondola, and shuttle. We really appreciated the friendly staff and ski storage with boot dryers. If we come to Vail again for skiing this is where we would stay.
