Hampton Inn Uvalde2.5 out of 5.0

My wife and I have completed 3 stays at this particular Hampton Inn, and were highly satisfied with each one. It's clean, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the hot breakfasts are exceptionally good and varied from one day to the next.
Hotel needs a serious update. One elevator for guest and housekeeping makes things move very slow. Doors do not close and lock automatically, you must remember to pull doors closed to room when leaving.
Hotel is new (looks to be no more than 3-4 yrs. old). Very clean! Well-located. Staff are helpful and knowledgable. Breakfast selection was fine if you want grains and fruit. If you want bacon and eggs, not so much.
We've stayed here a number of times and this used to be the best place to stay in Uvalde. One downside, as a result, is that on weekends rates were really high and availability low. This visit was no exception, but there was a new twist. The hotel was at capacity, but the staff was having trouble keeping up. First, upon check-in on Friday, we noticed debris on the floor in front of our room. It looked like a chewed-up straw. Clearly, they weren't vacuuming the floors. They never did vacuum as that straw, as well as some Fruit Loops, stayed on the hallway floor the whole time we were there. Second, during breakfast, the staff had trouble keeping up with the demand. Sliced fruit was not replenished either morning of our stay after the first serving. On Sunday, it was even worse as the staff was having even more trouble keeping up. Eggs were frequently out, French Toast and waffle syrup was not adequately replenished. Tried to call for a late checkout before going down for breakfast and no one answered the "Guest Services" line. Upon arriving downstairs to the non-existent breakfast, found no one at the front desk. Finally realized someone was in the office and was able to get a late checkout. But, she stayed in the office while people stood at the desk waiting for someone to help them. Finally, upon getting ready to go to the pool, found the pool towels were not in the gym. Finally found someone to help me and found that the towels had been washed, but were not dry. This was at 8:45 in the morning on Sunday. Not sure what happened to this place, but service and quality have definitely gone downhill...
If your planning on going to the Frio and need a place to stay go here! Very, very clean and comfortable rooms! Better prices than the cabins on the river and you're only about 22 miles from the river. Uvalde is a very nice town and offers many shopping places and restaurants too.
My family reserved 5 rooms through Travelocity who ended up messing up one of our reservations. It took two hours to figure out what happend but the front desk lady (Lisa Vanmeter) was so patient and helpful throughout the whole ordeal. She searched the hotel for rollaways for us and was very sympathetic with our situation. She eventually got us into the room we originally reserved. We stayed here last year and I was impressed with the hotel. It is clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Next time I will call the hotel directly though to make my reservation.
love the location, cleanliness, staff was vary helpful, rooms were nice and cold, 30 short minutes to Garner State Park, great steak house just down the road from the hotel, lots of antique stores and about an hour drive to San Antonio. I would most definitely stay here again. Just an all around great place to stay and the price was also vary pleasing.
This is a nice new hotel in Uvalde. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is good and the staff is friendly and helpful. I didn't try out the pool but it looked clean and inviting. Very nice accommodations for a small town.
Long time stay in uvalde We had not stayed in uvalde in approx 10-15 years so saw new Hampton and decided to stay rather than stY in Knippa with family Hotel is excellent and we will return for three nights at thanksgiving
It was definitely a must do again. We already have plans to come back again next year and we will be staying at the Hampton Inn. It was awesome. They had their own gym which allowed me to continue my work out so there was no excuses not to keep up with my daily routine.
