I stayed with family & friends in mid June 2017. Although the weather was not best at that time but we were tied with childrens vacations. Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel is one of the best place to Udaipur. It gives you an aura of royalness as you drive in the property. The staff was courteous and friendly. As we spent most of the time in room as this was not our first visit to Udaipur and doesn't want to explore and just wanted to rest...we experienced that although the hotel is spread widely but there service delivery time is good. The pool table room gives a feel of past era and needs to be air conditioned as we could play only one game only being very hot in there. Swimming pool is OK. Rooms are excellent. Air conditioning, water flow in bathroom, shower pressure, amenities, refrigerator cooling, mattress quality, bath towels all were above expectations. Thank you for welcome chocolates & cookies and serving fruit platter everyday. Now some suggestions. Buffet breakfast should be improved as it lacks in various aspects. There were no item of non veg. Also the spread was very small, may be some indian items can be added. We experienced a presence of lizard in one of our room which was reported and immediately addressed by your staff. The prices for food and drinks are exorbitant high and doesn't appeal us worth it. May be you can reevaluate if you want staying guest to dine in hotel as both days I haven't seen single table occupied. Thank you for making our stay memorable
Like the infrastructure of the hotel . Nice rooms . View from our room was really so amazing . Food served by hotel was tasty and yummy . Nice stay . Staff and manager so helpful person . Choose this hotel .
The beauty of this place is par excellence coupled with great service. The complementary upgrade on my wife's birthday and the royal service made the birthday celebrations a memorable one. Such royalness cannot be expressed in words. We were invited to be a part of Independence Day celebrations at the palace - with prince of Udaipur as the chief guest.
The Palace life , live like a maharaja and maharani , good property and rooms , nice gardens , and living in a proper palace , Food options are plentiful , palace converted to a hotel , nice experience !
PROs - next to the palace - Nice general areas - Nice view of the lake - Good breakfast (buffet + à la carte) - Nice suite rooms (even if the bathroom is quite old) CONs - price for normal rooms doesn't reflect their state - Restaurant food is average, even though dining by the pool is very pretty We were supposed to be in another hotel..eventually We slept here for 2 nights and I have to confess that my low expectations were outperformed by reality. Everything was fine and staff was very nice to us. Hotel is in a great palace that is well preserved.
If you are lucky to get your room booked with off season price and more lucky to get it up graded to suite. You will definitely love this place. You will be welcomed with fresh jasmine flowers & juice. You will pass through large garden with fountain. After passing grand gate you will see beautiful swimming pool and poolside restaurant. In your terrace suite ,you will have private terrace with table chairs and sunbath table.Suite is definitely BIG room with big bathroom having Jacuzzi and what not. You will enjoy tea while looking hills and city from balcony. If your booking have breakfast included rate then your maharajah enjoyment will continue.
We stayed here on a recommendation and the location was amazing with stunning views across the lake. The hotel has great access which you can walk through to the main Palace. Great restaurants and shopping nearby too. We had booked a terrace room which had a lot of space In The balcony area and bathroom but quite cramped in the room as we requested an extra bed. Sadly the extra bed incurred extra costs 4 thousand rupees and the bed was falling apart. The air conditioning struggling and did add to the nighttime notice which did not make this a peaceful resort. Sadly out side our the bats lived in the tree, during sunset the views are amazing watching them fly around the lake but sadly at night the noise was tiring! Breakfast was in a very dull, stuffy room this was disappointing service, food was ok. The pool was very cool and refreshing on the very hot days, needed more sunloungers with umbrellas. Only shade available was from the large tree! Lovely Heritage hotel but in need of updating, great location and staff seem very serious.
I think this is one of the best hotel to be in Udaipur. It is a part of city palace, so you can walk down to see the palace anytime.Best time to see the palace from outside is at night when travellers are less. The view of the lake at night is breathtaking. Food quality is good.Book the restaurant in advance else you wont get a seat n weekends.
HRH group has been doing a commendable job when it comes to maintaining the heritage properties. This is their second hotel after shikarbadi that we've stayed in. The sheer size and the location of the palace complex will leave you in awe. There are plenty of spots in and around the entire property with beautiful views of the lake and the city as well. Monsoon is the best time to visit Udiapur. The marble-lined swimming pool is surely built for the prince and princesses. The property boasts of three restaurants, where we had our breakfast, lunch and dinner respectively. Everything was as delicious as it gets. Full marks for the hospitality as well. The only drawback that we faced, which forces to give them a 4 out of 5 rating is the 'palace rooms' that we were put up in. There is nothing palatial about them. The so-called "balcony" was just an enclosed lobby, barely 2-3 feet in width, with no lights, having sliding windows to peek outside and ill-maintained window blinds that won't open. Do avoid palace rooms and go for a superior category if your budget permits. Apart from that, we had a lovely experience at the palace. I'm attaching a few images of the poolside area and the palace along with the review.
It's a heritage hotel in its true sense. Rooms are nice and you get a real feel of staying in a palace which is just next to the current kings palace inside the city palace complex. The staff is very nice and the services are wonderful. Golf cart is available inside the whole city palace complex which was very comfortable for kids and parents. Dinner at sunset terrace was amazing. The whole city palace complex is well maintained. The negative side, you may get disappointed with few palace rooms, the breakfast on third day was same as on first day. They don't allow your driver to stay in your vehicle overnight, which was very inconvenient for us as we reached hotel at 3 AM and on knowing this it was very difficult for driver to find a lodge that late. Over all a nice experience.
