If you dont have other choice, do it! Otherwise try to book in Marriot or Hilton. The staff is very rude and noisy, its not a quiet hotel, the location was good but you cant sleep because there is a lot of noise outside...
I came to Tuxtla for the wedding of a friend who is from here and decided to stat for a week. The room was nothing marvellous but it had a bed and that's all I really needed. What really made this hotel great to me was the staff, especially Angelica. She is very great with English and was more than helpful in giving me suggestions on where to go and what to do. All of the explanations she gave really put me at ease for going out on my own (I don't Spanish well at all). Other than that, the hotel is close to all the main attractions in the city and is close to the airport.
Have stayed at other city express hotels but this one is at the bottom of my list. Asked for a quiet room and was given one towards the back. One could hear car traffic all night! The bed mattresses are worn out and lumpy as are the pillows. Very uncomfortable. No iron nor ironing board. Little place to put away clothes. I was booked for 3 nights and checked out after one. As other travelers have noted, there are better deals around!
Only looking for lodging for one night after a long road trip and decided on City Express because of the location and the fact that it's a chain hotel and should be pretty standard. It is a typical business hotel, clean rooms, reading lights at the bed, electric plugs convenient, good shower and hot water, minimum furnishings. The fact that the rate was around $90 US a night put it a little on the high side compared to some terrific non-chain hotels in Mexico. We travel extensively and have stayed in chain hotels in other areas of Mexico where the prices have been a little more reasonable. Basically, you get minimum bang for your buck. There is an attractive Mexican restaurant next door that has good food and is convenient. There i parking for your auto.
Decent hotel as far as an overnight stop, but not really worth what they charge. Clean, comfortable, lots of courteous and helpful staff. Easy to find in this bustling city. However, at $95 USD per night and offering no discounts of any kind, it isn't a very good deal. We find many smaller, independent hotels in Mexico that offer equal service and ammenities for $55 - $65 USD. As we arrived after dark by car, we decided to bite the bullet and just crash after a very hard day's travel.
I only stayed one night recently but it is adecquate for that purpose. Room was clean and in good condition. Since it is a budget hotel chain, do not expect fancy amenities. Wi-fi worked very well. Breakfast is included but served only after 7am. For those catching early flights this may not work well. In my case I stopped by the cafeteria by 6:30 and they were almost done preparing it but couldn´t have anything because the attendant firmly indicated that I had to wait until 7am. By that time I was arriving to the airport. Overall it is a good hotel at an affordable price for business or short trips.
Standard Hotel. Stayed there one night on Business Travel. Wifi in lobby only. It was either recently open or renovated.
This hotel is fine for overnight stays. Clean, cheaper than some of the other hotels in the immediate area. Close to most places you would want to be in Tuxtla. Beds are not the best but adequate for a short stay.
We only stayed one night while preparing for our tour around northern Chiapas. Of all the hotels we stayed in Chiapas during our tour, this was at the bottom of my list. Although it's part of a big chain of hotels; the customer service is not what you might call great, the girls at the reception could use a good old customer service quick course and the beds in the room are definitely not very comfortable. However, not all is bad. This hotel it's very affordable, the breakfast was ok (included in the hotel fee) and it has a fantastic view of Tuxtla. If what you are looking it's an affordable hotel while in business or a one night hotel in which you won't spend a lot of time in, this is what you are looking for.
An excellent value for money hotel. Great views from most rooms, a nice pool, quiet. Close to the town and pleasant staff.
