The hotel has the basics, no amenities at all, very simple hotel
Piedra Escondida was paradise! The little hotel is charming and beautiful. The room was comfortable with cute touches and all necessary items, including a towel specifically for eye makeup. The hotel is centrally located on the main beach road with free parking available. The restaurant was delicious and the staff was incredibly accommodating. Free breakfast from the restaurant was included every day - try the huevos motuleños! Unfortunately the heavy sargasso burden plaguing all of the Mexican coast right now prevented us from swimming in the water, however relaxing on the beach was perfect. Would definitely stay again!
Hidden gem in Northern Tulum Beach. Great for privacy and we enjoyed the food. Staff is great. We will definitely be going back!
Piedra Escondida is a quaint 9 room resort with it’s own mini beach tucked perfectly between rocks. The rocks form this perfect tunnel/corridor that gives it’s employees and guests a continuous breeze all day and night. This helped prevent complete over heating in the humid coastal air and tropical sun and also deterred many mosquitos. The beach was clean and relaxing. The beach chairs were comfortable. I took many naps in the chairs. No loud party music to disturb the serenity. And our bedroom was ocean facing, open, clean and breezy. The room also came with AC but the ocean breeze was much more satisfying. The beds had mosquito nets, but because of the natural strong breeze I encounter no mosquitos in the room. That could be different for rooms/windows not facing the ocean directly. Water pressure in the shower was perfect. Piedra Escondida was a perfect place to call home while on vacation.
Over all pleasant stay. I will definitely be back !
Our stay at Piedra Escondida was a great! What I like most about it was it's small size. There are only nine units so you never feel crowded. It's a nice location along the main beach strip in Tulum. Our room was very comfortable with great hot water for showers. The beach area is beautiful although when we were there, too much seaweed for swimming even thought hotel employees work hard to clear it every morning. No problem, there is a nice public beach that didn't have seaweed, right around the cove so a minute walk. I would definitely stay here again!
The Piedra Escondido is a nice hotel literally on the sand. So much so, you cannot even roll your luggage into the front lobby. You must carry it over the sand. That is not a complaint. Pros: private beach, private swimming cove, spectacular views from the rooms, friendly hotel staff, each room had its own assigned beach lounge chairs with private talapa umbrellas, walking distance to many restaurants. Cons: A/C is only available from 9 pm - 6 am. This makes it very uncomfortable if you plan to spend any time in your room outside of those hours, no desk or small area to do any work on a computer, bathroom very tight. We checked out 3 nights early as 6 nights was more than enough time to experience Tulum. Disappointed to not receive a refund on those nights. Left 2 pairs of nice shoes. The hotel could not ship the shoes back. They required me to pay DHL fees plus an additional cost to send a driver to Playa Del Carmen 45 minutes away. Tulum is a beautiful seaside village on the Caribbean Coast with gorgeous blue/green waters and white sandy beaches. The town is not tourist-friendly. I constantly felt I was being taken advantage of. Vast majority of restaurants do not take credit cards so you have to withdraw cash from one of the ATMs on every corner. $30 fee for withdrawals and they give you USD. This is so restaurants can make more money off you by giving you lousy exchange rates. Disappointing, but not surprised.
Hotel was in a great location and nice. The bed was uncomfortable and air condition only at night. A lot of places don't have AC so having it at night was better than nothing. But it is HOT and I come from a place that is hot so be prepared. I would go back.
Very friendly and welcoming staff! The room had a great view of the beach, and I really enjoyed watching the sunrise. The room was a bit sandy when we arrived, but I'm sure that's difficult to avoid there. Delicious made to order breakfast was included in the price. Had a great stay!
Tuvimos una estadía muy agradable, los desayunos deliciosos y muy variados. El personal siempre dispuesto a brindar una solución o una guía de paseos.
