We spent a wonderful 7 days at this resort. The accommodations were terrific, just a few steps from the beach, and the food was great. Best of all, the staff was so kind and helpful. We would return in a minute!
First of all, it's insanely expensive. I spent $2500 on a 3 night stay in the cheapest room. I've spent that much at a 5 star resort in Maui for 6 nights. And Maui, this is not. The beach is covered in putrid seaweed. And I mean covered. We had to step over piles of it and around the flies just to get our feet into the water. Secondly, the male workers made me feel very uncomfortable. They stared and their eyes lingered. It's not flattering. It's assault. Train your staff to be respectful and keep their eyes to themselves. They also speak about guests in Spanish right in front of them if they know you don't understand. There's also no wifi on premises. It's 2019, invest in wifi. Beach towels are not available in the rooms. You have to make a special request for them??? I understand that we're in the jungle, but I walked into my room and stepped barefoot on a pile of dead ants. And they have the nerve to charge a resort fee. Your prices are way too high, you need to bundle food, yoga, and spa treatments into your rates year-round if you want to stay competitive.
Maya Tulum is a fantastic refuge on the sea. The entire atmosphere is one of quiet and friendliness. No blaring music or beach bars here. Just great healthy and delicious freshly prepared meals, all presented with care and taken in a beautiful and spacious open-air building. Maya Tulum offers high quality yoga classes 2x/day and all of the teachers are friendly, well-prepared and experienced. The staff throughout the establishment is friendly and efficient. Wellness services are conveniently available on site. The rooms are quiet and many offer views of the water. All are steps from the beach. Easy to go right from your room to the beach and in for a swim or just hang out and read a book or meditate. BTW - all the paths are silky soft sand. We highly recommend it!
Excellent location on the beach. Walk to several attractions. Wonderful staff and food . Food was very well prepared and there was a good variety. From there you can arrange tours to the Bioshpere and guides are available to take you on an interesting kayak trip through the mangroves. On the property there is a labyrinth which is very near the beach. There is also an interesting structure which may be used for some type of yoga (perhaps hot yoga) the name of that structure escapes me right now. The bedrooms and baths were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The entire resort has a feeling of laid back comfort. The town of Tulum is a short drive (10 minutes) from Maya Tulum and it has some interesting shops , banks and the usual small Mexican touristy outlets. You can get a bus from Cancun to Tulum or private limo service can be arranged.
This place looks just like the pictures!! It is right off the beach with lovely cabanas, hammocks, and beach chairs. We were there on a week that they did not have a retreat going on and thus, we were two of only a few quests. Food was great! We did yoga twice daily for $15. My friend had a great body scrub and massage for $140. This is not a cheap place but it is affordable. Hot showers, cool breezes, no need for air conditioning, good mosquito control. And we could walk to the beach area for food! Highly recommend.
While many resorts in Tulum have yoga, Maya Tulum had classes twice daily, and offered different types (Iyengar, Hatha, Ashtanga as well as Vinyasa). The area is wonderful and tranquil, whereas other areas in Tulum are a bit more congested. Great value for the accommodations. Very sweet staff. Nice to have your own freestanding building to stay in.
A perfect location with 2 sandy bays , nice playful waves and tranquil ocean views, The gardens and architecture say stay in a peaceful silence . The food is tasty and a focus on HEALTH , The Staff welcome and SMILE with Kindness. You want to stay and melt into Nature , Yes ZEN is here and your CHI renewed . A member of our group said , why look any more than the Mayan TAO !
I have styes here numerous times and it's always quiet and clean and has a nice beach area. Breakfast options are great as well. There are a lot of options in Tulum but this place I always trust to have a nice time and the service is really nice as well.
The red tide was one of many disappointing aspects of this property. We were assured in a Facebook post by the resort that the red tide had been stopped by a barrier in the ocean; that was not the case. Our oceanfront villa had no AC, and consequently, the open windows left us with the fishy red tide smell. It was unbearable. The resort was gracious and provided us a refund for the last two nights of our stay as we left for another property. We were only 2 of 5 total guests at the time of our visit, which was odd. The staff was up and working early around our villa, which had wide open windows and curtains that had blown open overnight, leaving us exposed. We were also disappointed to learn that there were available units with AC at the time that we were checked in, but we were not offered to "upgrade" to one of them - not until we advised we were leaving. One good point - the food was incredible. We had lunch, dinner and then breakfast during our short stay under 24 hours, and every meal was fresh and very good.
Visit the maya Ruins was a fun learning experience. The view was amazing . Don’t remember the tour company but guys were so much fun, I would recommend to take lots of sunscreen some really comfy shoes and be prepared to walk .
