First hotel where the property is better in person than website images
There was no hot water in our room. I asked 4 times, from as soon as we checked in. I was told repeatedly it was fixed. It was not fixed during our 3 night stay. When I asked politely if there was anything they could do (move rooms, offer some compensation), the person at the front desk said I was already getting a good deal on orbitz (the price apparently did not include hot water, which was news to me). The hotel is also far less attractive than the photos. Stay far away.
It was disappointing to discover a variety of issues especially if you are not from Mexico. This could have been a much better stay with a few adjustments. There are no heated pools including the private ones.
Everything was amazing apart from the beach/bar staff.. they were slow and not attentive
One of the best stay I ever had. The hotel is definetily the best option in Tulum.
Be Tulum is probably one of the best hotels in Tulum. We loved the simple but classy decoration of our room. The staff is very relaxed and makes you feel very comfortable.
I have nothing negative to say about the facility itself. It's beautifully kept and the food is outstanding; however, my fiance and I did not expect to deal with a horrible disturbance upstairs that lasted for over 30 minutes in the middle of the night. Given the disturbing cries and shrieks coming from upstairs in the middle of the night, we were unsure if our upstairs neighbors were in danger and if we were also in danger. We called the front desk many times, but it took six calls before our call was received and we were reassured that we were not in danger. When we made complaints to staff the following day regarding the lack of response, we kept getting the run around from staff, and in the end, we never received a formal apology or any compensation for the terror we endured. Unfortunately, that single night did put a hamper on our stay which otherwise would have been perfect.
Having read a lot of positive reviews, we expected a very nice stay. We can't say enough about the level of service and hospitality we received at Be Tulum! Courteous, friendly and hospitable staff at every encounter during our 5 night stay. The grounds were impeccable every day and the entire Be family clearly takes great pride in maintaining a top notch facility. Food was always excellent and super fresh. Highly recommended! Say hi to Oscar or Alfredo for breakfast or lunch at Maresias, super nice guys!
It is a dream hotel with a very nice team. It is like a honeymoon suit. Spa was also incredible. Foods are good
Be Tulum had very friendly hotel and restaurant staff. Not a problem if you don't speak Spanish at the property. In summary, we did not have any issue during my 7 nights stay. We rented a car and parking at the hotel (across a small street) was never a problem. The food at the hotel was great and fairly priced, and better than other restaurants outside the hotel while the costs were pretty similar. The beach was nice but we've been to better ones. Very quite, no kids around, which definitely was a plus. If you are lucky, you may get to see baby turtles hatch at night and walk their way to the ocean for the first time! I would definitely recommend this property if you are looking for a very nice, quiet, relaxing and romantic vacation. Much better than hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
This was the perfect Hotel. 10/10 Staff always attentive, rooms serviced twice daily, perfect beach lounge beds and cool, contemporary and chilled hotel style. The hotel restaurant offers THE BESTand most consistant food and service I've ever experienced whilst on holiday. Nothing at this hotel is too much trouble and I will return!
I stayed at the Be Tulum as a couple for five nights, and even though the weather was not obliging, I was ready to have a nice time. Overall the hotel and our room were beautiful and clean, the beach lounging area was one the prettiest I have ever seen. Unfortunately I feel that the amount we paid to stay in this hotel did not meet the level of service you would expect. The staff although not rude did not make an effort to acknowledge you with a greeting or bother to ask if you needed anything to make your stay more comfortable. There is a lack of information on simple things like how to dial out for room service or reception (no info in room) or when as a guest of the hotel you are allowed to use the hydrotherapy facilities of the Yaan Spa across the street (between 9am-1pm but call for appt). If you did not inquire further about services the staff was not forthcoming with information. I feel that management can tailor their standard service for guest to be more personal or at least more inviting where you feel an equal amount of attention as a patron, given that there are only 20 rooms in the hotel. After a very uncomfortable and condescending interaction with Laura the receptionist at the Yaan Spa about allowing us entry into the hydrotherapy circuit of the spa ( for which she never apologize in person), the managers of the hotel and spa did make a personal apology and treated us to a courtesy meal the last day of my stay. Sadly, at check out I encounter yet another confusing moment when I was reviewing my room charges and realized that they included a surcharge of 12 percent to each restaurant service which they called gratuity regardless of the size of your party or order of a single bottle of water. This called my attention because I had been tipping cash every time I ate in the hotel and used room service according to my bill and the level of service I had received (like in USA 15-20). When I told them about me tipping people in cash the manager of the restaurant said that his staff had never received any cash from me and if they had, they would have marked the amount out off my bill. This really upset me and even though they reduced my bill to apologize I paid it anyways because I did not want to cheat anyone out of their tip since apparently they use a pool system to divide the money between the staff members and who knows took the tip money we left on the table. Thus, the lack of communication, information and attention to small details towards me as a guest made for an uncomfortable stay and regrettable choice of hotel. Notes: 1. The spa is worth the money (aside from the rude receptionist). My wonderful experience in the spa made this the highlight of my trip, I would recommend Lizbeth for your spa treatment, and she is the sweetest and kindest person I have ever met. 2. The hotel does offer complimentary bicycles for hotel guest. Make use of them is a fun way to explore the hotel zone in Tulum. 3. Food (lunch & dinner) in the hotel is good but nothing out of the ordinary. Breakfast in the hotel is good and consistent in quality. Go out and explore, there are many other choices around the hotel zone that offer a better experience and price, for instance La Onda is a pizza place but is super tasty, safe and very affordable.
one of the best hotel they have in tulum... every couple should go there ! enjoy yourself
Hotel staff was friendly and gave good advice on places to go. We definitely enjoyed the peacefulness and quietness of laying out on the beach and the atmosphere of the hotel. However, I would have liked to have used the spa but the prices were a bit much for the services. All in all I would definitely go back.
Was a very interesting hotel. Too much nature for me. Rooms were not very comfortable. Would recommend if you like the outdoors.
The architecture alone would've made the trip magical, but add the unbelievable beach and the A++ staff at Be Tulum and you have a honeymoon that brides and grooms dream of. I WILL return. Meanwhile, I'll dream of Be Tulum daily.
we absolutely LOVED be tulum. the property is this really great space with lots of winding paths, beautiful (funky) decor, and amazingly kind (but not stuffy) staff. we loved all of the thoughtful details (picnic baskets, books, & sunscreen for anyone to borrow; beach cruisers at your disposal; access to the AMAZING spa across the street; etc. etc). We'll be back Be! LOVE.
Be Tulum is truly the best place on earth. I have never been so depressed to leave somewhere and desperate to come back as soon as possible. My husband and I were here with another couple for our girlfriend's birthday surprise; the hotel staff treated us like we were the ones there. They were/are amazing, seriously. Daniela at the front desk (the hardest working woman in the Yucatan) was AMAZING- she knew exactly who we were, every detail that was needed about the guests, wanted to help in any way possible and she was so cute and nice! Lua (sp) was the super cute Argentinean girl in the front of the restaurant - she was also SO fun to talk to and so personable and nice. She had a lot of funny jokes with us and we had a blast with her. Frederico was awesome, as was Alex and the rest of the team. And Kuamy, who is the manager at the restaurant, was so great. He took care of us the entire trip. My husband and I along with our 2 best friends who we do not get to see very often get kind of crazy when we are together, and the entire team had a lot of fun with us. All of the staff were simply amazing and were a large part of why this was the best trip we have ever been on and will be back 6x a year now. The food and drinks were ridiculous. Shrimp tacos and the lobster.. So yummy. Fruit was fresh, coconut water cut straight off the trees, their fresh fruit and veggie smoothies.. Delicious. Here is One key thing we will remember - they always bring out chips and 3 different salsas when you order food. We asked for extra roja salsa versus pico de Gallo one time- they remembered every day after that! Crazy - level of service was so perfect. The beach and cabanas were the best. They had a DJ on one Saturday and live tropical music on Sunday- bands were excellent. Rooms were clean and very well put together; resort decorations were very well thought out and no detail was left untouched. We cannot say enough good things about Be Tulum. The owners and people that work there are some truly amazing people that we will always remember and hope to see time and time again. Thank you guys for such a wonderful and amazing time! See you sooner than later.
Best Place ever! We have been here 4 times already and can't wait to go back again. Each time it has been longer from 7 to 9 to 11 days this time. The most relaxing, decompressing place ever, it's magical. The staff unbelievable, especially, Anna & Daniel the manager and manager's assistant, they are the best! Be Tulum Rocks! J & A
My husband and I spent a week at Be and loved every day. The beach is simply beautiful, the facilities are tastefully decorated, the food is great. I would recommend Be Tulum to anyone wanting to spoil themselves but stay somewhere with some rustic charm. The staff were very helpful with organizing local activities and transport, but really I could have spent the entire time on the beach!
