Making our way home westward, making Tucumcari as the stopping point. They offer everything that others do and it was right off the freeway. Comfortable room, clean, could use and update. This is an older property. Is a fairly well care for property. Very large, but cold outdoor pool. They offer some form of food in the evening with wine and beer. A nice breakfast variety. Again cold butter. Why? Guess they don't try to spread on toast. In fact you are given a bottle of water(or two) as you check in. The internet service seems slower than other I have used. There is not much to do in this slowly dying route 66 town.
We were checked in by friendly and helpful staff. Our room was just as I requested on the reservation, ground floor, non smoking, and pet friendly. It was clean and comfortable with a good mattress. Breakfast was very good - waffles, eggs, ham, potatoes, and a variety of cold foods and breads. The facility was quiet. I'm not sure why another review said that breakfast was crowded - there were two rooms full of tables!
People were nice, clean room. Pretty comfy. For being in the middle of nowhere...no real complaints. Plus the scenery was great...go outside and check out the sky. Weather moved in and the clouds were very cool.
The place was pet friendly, and had a nice pool, as well as a decent little gazebo to hang out under if the sun was too potent. The funny down side was the fact that when we went to use the Guest Laundry, it was coin operated.. Going to the front desk and asking for change, netted us 8 quarters.. That is 8 quarters in the ENTIRE hotel.. lol so we were able to do one load of laundry.. after spending a week at the Grand Canyon, my family of four, needed at least 2 loads at least.. lol but 1 load, was enough to get us home in something clean, so I am not complaining too much.. just thought it was strange that they offer a service, but are not prepared to help a guest use that service after a long day on the road. The air conditioner did not work great either.. it knocked a few degrees off the outside heat .. but we all slept without blankets to keep from over heating..
This property is an older one and could use some updates but it is kept up well. For less than $100 it was a good place to spend the night on our traveling vacation. The staff was friendly and will to help with any questions.
Uncomfortable beds. Each room looked as if mattresses had long outlived the expected lifespan. Worst WiFi I have had in recent years. Will not stay connected. Very weak signal everywhere except lobby. Room was clean though in need of upgrade, and has a good breakfast selection. Would choose another motel next time I travel here. Staff was fairly friendly though one desk clerk was a bit curt towards people checking in. Guess you win some and loose some. This one comes up a bit short.
Asked for a room facing the parking field. We were put in the type of we requested. The room smelled like a sewer overflowed. They accommodated us with another room. This hotel needs upgrading badly and a good cleaning. The breakfast buffet was worh the stay. It had a large selection and all was at the proper temperature. We enjoy Qualty Inns and Comfort Inns but this one needs dire help
Spent one night there. Was a pretty motel. Staff was very friendly. I was pretty tired & glad they had a little restaurant inside & had dinner there. Was glad I didn't have to go search for a place to eat that night. They gave me two bottles water. The breakfast they served was very good ..eggs, ham , juice & other items. Room was nice & quiet. They had a great looking pool in the courtyard. Would stay there again.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights (two 1 night stays) over the course of a week in late May 2017. I've stayed here in the past and it's been okay over the past three years. However, after these two nights, I will never again return to this hotel as it has severely gone downhill in terms of consistency of basic amenities and service. In both rooms I was assigned the desk chair was not in working order. In one of the rooms, the entire seat of the chair was literally falling off the chair's base. In the other room, the chair was listing terribly to one side, making you feel like you were going to fall off it. Management provided me a chair from the meeting room in both cases. In the second room, the shower curtain was completely missing. When I told the desk clerk at checkout about the shower curtain, he didn't even apologize. The staff here is completely inconsistent as well. As a Choice Hotels Platinum member I was greeted on the first night at check-in with a bottle of water and a small gift bag. On the second stay, two nights later, I wasn't offered a water or a gift bag. However, the couple right next to me was offered waters. On the first stay I received my wake up call, but not on the second after requesting it both times. Given the price of this hotel in the $70-$80 range, the basics should always be in working order, especially in regards to room furnishings. Many other hotels in the $50 range in Tucumcari consistently provide the basic amenities in working order. Spend your money elsewhere for a more consistent and pleasant stay while in Tucumcari.
This hotel has smoking rooms and so make sure you ask for non smoking when you make reservations. We ended up on the second floor because of that. Not bad if you are able to do stairs but it is a pain if you have a lot of luggage. Breakfast is tight since there are few tables and I saw many people taking their food to the room. The place was clean but it is a stretch to justify the price. The front desk was pleasant and greeted us when we showed up.
