We stayed at the Comfort Inn at the end of March, one of many snowbirds heading back north. We found the rooms clean comfortable and quiet. One of the main reasons for picking this hotel was the attached restaurant. At 6 pm when we arrived there was a line up of 8 couples trying to check in, and 2 receptionists, which took a long time. While waiting to check in we saw that the restaurant area was full and there were 6 people waiting. When we arrived around 7pm the people that'd been waiting were now seated in the breakfast area side and there were still people waiting to get in. No one on the breakfast side had been served and there were people now trying to pay their bill. The problem was there was only one person who acted as receptionist, waitress, server and cashier. We left and had dinner elsewhere, the next morning many people were complaining about having to wait a long time for their meal. Management should have known the snowbirds were coming and done a proper staffing. Will stay somewhere else next time.
I reserved the room over a week in advance. There was nothing mentioned about not having an elevator and that the King bed rooms were on the second floor. I found all this out upon arrival. The room, after we struggled up the stairs, was okay, nothing special. Wi-Fi was as slow as dial up use to be. Got tired waiting so didn't use it much. Breakfast was good. Nice selection and the food was hot. All in all I would give the place a 3 and we probably will pick a different motel the next time we are in Tucumcari.
Tucumcari, though distressed, is an interesting visit. It used to be a stop along the old Route 66 and retains much of that atmosphere when looking for a place to stay at night, neon lights and all. Parts of the town light up at night with these. However I'm not inclined to stay in that kind of older motel/hotel. There is a more refined(?) hotel in the area but I'm a person very much given to relative value. Not only that but this is Tucumcari. I would not be inclined to spend the bigger bucks for a town like this. So I weigh what is it I'm getting for one versus the other and what is the price difference? In that regard this hotel was absolutely the winner. It is very competitive price wise and a review will reflect this. This hotel is a bit unusual in the sense that it actually has a restaurant in it. There is a charge for your dinner but prices are low to moderate. Breakfast comes with the room charge(i.e. not extra) They serve beer and wine at dinner Barefoot brand. The menu, while not abundant with choices, has pretty much all the meat items and vegetables you might ordinarily eat. And it's prepared very well to my mind. The surprise here is liver and onions which I happen to enjoy. You don't get to see that on your menu very often. And the chef did pay attention to my expressed concern about not over cooking the liver. They must have the most efficient waitress I've ever come across who manages to be pleasant yet is very business like and almost has to be given she's the one. Yet she handled something like 6 or 7 tables and did it timely and with a smile. At that she's the hostess also. I'm telling you she is good! You're are not going to be unhappy with the wait if you're fair. Then throw in the fact that your choices in town are not quite the stellar type(just take the time to review them) of themselves I/we simply elected the hotel restaurant. We were very pleased we did. By the way the seating capacity is just about 6 or 7 tables. It's small. The hotel itself is like a motel and the doors open to the outside(no inside corridors). It has a pleasant attractive construction which is clean and the property has one side without any rooms whereby you have visibility unto the highway(I-40). So the other three sides are rooms with some opening into a "courtyard" like setting and the opposite unto a parking lot. The place is not so close to the highway as to be a problem with traffic noise. It is set off a bit.
This hotel is a good place to stay, clean room, comfortable beds and super breakfast. My wife said it was one of the best breakfast she has ever had at hotels. My only complaint was the ice machine was broke down. Elilaura at the Front Desk also did a great job and was pleasant to work with. This is definitely on our list to stay at the next time we drive thru.
This is our second time at this hotel both times we had a great time the staff was great the breakfast what amazing everything we had questions about they helped us in anyway they could can't wait for may we be going to this amazing place again we where very happy
We usually stop here on the way to AZ. No surprises, the lot is generally quite full by late evening, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly. Internet in the evening again not dependable, so beware if you have anything real important to do. Luckily I was just checking eBay bids. It did work OK early the next morning. Good breakfast, good price, good place.
The hotel was clean and courteous staff. Located right off the highway. Lugging suitcases upstairs is not my kind of fun. It looked like they had a nice breakfast restaurant but we left early. They gave us complimentary water bottles.
Almost a five star! Rooms quiet, clean, & comfortable. Outside entry to rooms. Internet extremely SLOW! Evening restaurant had good food delivered quickly. Very understaffed though. Long wait to be seated & at the cash register to pay. Breakfast was outstanding! I’d stay again.
We have stayed here several times on our way to & from AZ & Always enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly & helpful. They have a dining area that can be quite busy, but the food is delicious. They serve beer & wine. There is usually only one server, but with our recent visit she was exceptional & other staff helps her. Complimentary breakfast is also good!
The room had an outside entry which we appreciate for loading and unloading. Room was very nice. It is an older hotel but seems well maintained. Supper at the hotel was great for us and breakfast had a good assortment. We were very happy with the whole experience. Desk clerk on check in, I thought was especially helpful and friendly. this would be our choice next time through.
