Top notch service, great food, nice rooms.

The Hilton Garden Inn was great but for a couple of small items. Let's start with the things that bugged me. Access to the guest rooms were great and secure through card key accessed glass doors. There are two areas for improvement here: 1. The doors were often friction propped open, defeating the security feature. Perhaps secueity staff might round the access doors more often. 2. The sign to identify the exit button was not obvious. It could be made more visible, OR perhaps explained upon check-in. The ground level rooms had clear glass which allows people at the poolside to look right into the rooms. Perhaps tinting of the full glass walls might be helpful to maintain privacy. The good: The service is phenomenal! The staff were very helpful. Our shampoo was running out and we informed the front desk. In less than 5 minutes, housekeeping had it brought over. People seem genuinely happy to work there and all greeted guests with smiles. The check-in process is flawless! These people act as though they were trained by the Ritz Carlton. We had arrived early and they had no problem stowing our luggage when we went around town. They also were very willing to give good information. The rooms were well appointed, clean, stocked, and tidy. The water they provided were all in sealed glass bottles. Breakfast was WONDERFUL! Great choices and variety available. There were local delights, western items, and fruits. This will be my default choice in Bali from now.

Staff were good at check in, no one to help with bags when you arrive. The room we stayed in was actually very poor for a 4 star hotel. The bathroom tiles had a lot of mold especially in the shower area and the shower head was black and moldy. There was no hand towel, had to request for a hairdryer, as standard in most hotels they are provided in the rooms. The power point in the bathroom wouldn’t work for the hair dryer so I had to use in the main area. The lamp shades were rusting. Great size room however is poorly configured and not really practical.

Staff at the property were amazing. Particularly the wait staff at breakfast, very polite and professional. Room was clean and a good size, the shower was hot and good pressure and the bathroom was stocked with the usual stores expected if a hotel. We would hazard a guess that 99% of guests at this hotel are in transit either from or to the international airport. We found the price extremely expensive for the short stay. Either AUD$400 for a king bed or AUD$130 for a twin room. We opted for the cheaper. The room was basic and tired but beds were comfortable. As it is a transit hotel guests were arriving and leaving all through the night, which was a little noisy in the corridor. The pool was lovely. We enjoyed a cocktail and then tried to put it on our room as we had depleted our cash to leave the country. There was something about having to had paid a deposit to do this. So a server was sent with me, in my wet swimmers, to my room to retrieve my Visa card for payment. Quite awkward. There is a great Warung a short distance away for dinner, which was great. If you're leaving early morning (5am) it would be possible to walk to the terminal as the traffic is non existent (literally 500m from the terminal), however if you're leaving later, DO NOT WALK! Grab cost us AUD$2.50 at 4.45am and picked us up in 3 mins.
