Firstly this property is 4 out of five based on what I paid, which was £91 p.n. for a twin B & B via Expedia. I am not comparing it to a Mandarin Oriental. I researched hotels in Koh Chang extensively and chose this one as it has only 59 rooms. I prefer smaller quieter hotels that are a little more personal. I was a little concerned about the rather industrial bare concrete look of the rooms and property but actually they were fine. The rooms are a bit dark because of it and to be honest a nice coat of paint on the walls would be better. The room was plenty big enough with a large balcony overlooking the pool. We had a problem with a blocked shower head straight away and it was replaced without question within 15 minutes of reporting, which is very good. I'll start with a couple of niggley points. I contacted the hotel several times using the two email addresses on their website about transfers and didn't get any response. Eventually contacted them by Facebook and was told those email addresses fill up and then lose emails once full. That's not great for a hotel website. Someone should be reading these and clearing them after responding. Only other thing was our immediate welcome. We had booked on Expedia and paid months in advance, but as soon as we got to the checkin desk they asked for our "voucher". Expedia had never given us any voucher and after a long hot journey when they were expecting us, a warm welcome would have been appreciated first. First impressions really can affect a guests stay. After a bit of an argument about the "voucher" I emailed them a screen print of my booking and they were happy with that, but now they had to make up for a bit of a stressful welcome. They did. Jenny and Ja were particularly lovely, but all the remaining staff were good. The pool and pool bar were great, there's a happy hour and with most guests on the beach the pool is quiet till late afternoon. The breakfast is fine, but no real wow factor. This hotel is largely visited by Germans and Russians, so don't expect any adherence to the "Don't reserve the beach loungers with your towels" sign. They should write it in German as we English are far too well mannered not to obey those rules, lol. A lot of loungers were "reserved" before certain guests went for breakfast. The restaurant area by the beach was good, as was the food. We only had lunch there as dinner is served at tables put out on the beach. We didn't eat dinner there, as there are so many nice restaurants in either direction along the main road inland (Blue Lagoon was particularly good and food at the Tiger Huts beach bar) and they're cheaper. I like to get away from the hotel in the evenings. So, in summary, a very nice hotel and good value for its price and after an initial few hiccups it grew on me and I'd definitely be happy to stay here again if back in Koh Chang.

I haven't even been gone from The Dewa a day and already I'm feeing depressed, Seriously though,10/10 on all accounts, my partner and i have just had our first trip to Thailand and our first trip to The Dewa - Koh Chang. I cannot describe how perfect the week was. From the cleanliness of the whole hotel inside and out, to the friendliness of all the staff. From the amazing sunset in the evenings, to the taste of the food and cocktails. Completely overwhelmed would be an understatement. Special mention to Tiger ( The Food and Beverage Manager ) This man is one of a kind, every morning he was waiting to pour our hot coffee and make sure we were happy with everything, i never saw him withought a smile and was always up for a chat to get to know our way of life, He is genuinely passionate about the service the guests receive and i think is a major asset to the team. Thanks very much Tiger :) Also a special mention to Net ( House Keeping ) after arriving back to our room from exploring the island, each day, the room was outstanding, from different animals made from towels on the bed, bright flowers and fresh cookies or muffins, one of the most polite and happy people we have ever met, i never caught the ladie's name that was always working with Net, but the same comments and thanks to her, ( we even left her our big inflatable swan that we used on the pool, to take home for her small children :) ) " we looked forward to returning to our villa each day " So, thank you both very much, Thank you to the whole of The Dewa for making our stay one to remember. I will be sure to recommend the hotel to anyone i know planing a trip to Thailand. Its the little thing that make a difference and i myself will be back, Jamie - Albury NSW Australia
This is our second stayed at the Dewa and its still live up to our expectations. The resort itself located next to the beach with the tropical vibe, huge pool and nice sunbathing area. The villa is spacious and well decorated, I personally love the Bath tub and their sea salt scrub but for the next time I will ask for villa on the right side of the resort I think it is more secluded. During our 3 nights stayed staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast buffet is even better than our first stay. Even though we have ran into some unfortunate incident on the third night (Air conditioning is not working at 2am.) we called the front up to change the room and the staff take us to the new room almost immediately and the next morning while we enjoyed our breakfast buffet the hotel manager reach out to us in a very respectful manner. Definitely gonna come back
We stayed for 5 nights and had lovely time. The location is great. Only ate at the beach restaurant once which was OK but for the rest of the time ate and drank at the beach bars/restaurants which were very well priced with excellent food. Breakfast was good, the pool was lovely and the room was good. Not much storage space though and our aircon shut off after a few hours every night so the room never really got cool enough. Did mention this to reception but no rectification.
It had been a wonderful experience staying at The Dewa Koh Chiang. We have been pleased with the service we consistently received at your resort. We would like to extend our heartiest compliments to you and your fantastic team – Jean, Nim, Jenny and Pong. The professional attitude of dealing with your customers deserves an appreciation. Your team are truly an asset. They have been attentive and understanding to our needs. Pong had been attentive and alert when he noticed and thought that I had cut myself at the pool. Jenny had recommended and assisted us in the booking of activities – the dinner at the beach is the most memorable night we had. Jean and Nim had offered assistance when we needed to deal with the ATV excursion. Everyone else were consistently friendly and made us feel at home,
Overall super friendly and kind, if you have any question, the staff will help you! Also, nice swimming pool and amazing view from the beach, next to the hotel! & Rooms are very nice and big! I would recommend this hotel for couples or friends. (;
Me and my husband stayed at the dewa for 9 days. Overall are fantastic! This trip was our second times at the dewa and we never feel disappointed even they changed the new managers. Greet to all the staff and great compliments (especially the great gardeners) :-) thank you for wonderful breakfast and fresh eggs every morning. We will come back next year ka.
We were stayed for 8 night at The Dewa hotel. Everything was wonderful as well as the service. Food at the hotel was very tasty also great spa they have. If you want to hop around Koh Chang they also have motorbike to rent which is very convenience. there are so many Restaurants surrounding in Walking distant. I will come back again and for sure to recomment to our friends :) Thank you for fantastic time :)))) see you next year!!
We loved our stay at the Dewa! the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much. There was a constant level of good service. The decor was modern and the hotel was always tidy. The food was delicious (you must have the BBQ on the beach!). The rooms were very spacious and you had a lovely little treat delivered to your room every evening. There is nothing we would change about our stay.
