For 575 baht per night including breakfast, I enjoyed my stay here at the Chom Trang hotel. I have to say that the wifi here is positively brilliant. It's as good here as I've seen in any 5 star hotel. Plus the room is modern, stylish and clean. However, I found the bed mattress quite hard I still managed a good night sleep. Also, I found the water pressure from the shower quite weak and warm at best but this hardly detracted from the positive experience. I found the location of the hotel quite convenient being in the center of the town and close to nice restaurants and bars. Overall, this was a positive experience and would recommend everyone stay here.
Having been shown the ramshackle rooms at the moth-eaten Sri Trang Hotel I looked across the street.....what luck to find modern tasteful cool rooms at Chom Trang for less money, and with a small Thai breakfast thrown in too. You cannot go wrong here, and the location is excellent.
Chomtrang offers clean, spacious rooms right next to the railway station. The room was modern, had a comfortable bed, quality towels and a very quiet A/C unit and mini fridge. The included breakfast is very basic and not very tasty. Good location if in transit to the islands. The travel agent right across from the hotel offers great service for transport to different islands.
Well located in the centre of town, well-fitted out rooms with great bathrooms, efficient air-con, good WiFi and a simple free breakfast thrown in - all a budget prices. It’s a stone’s throw from the station, buses stop outside and you can watch the second night market from your balcony after you’ve eaten at the brilliant Kim Restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Very highly recommended.
This is a new place right opposite the train station. Take a 90 THB-Transfer from the airport to here. Unfortunately they forgot to hire nice staff. The boy at the reception is not greeting you and also speaks no English. He can only ask for “Pay now”. If you want to stay here, you have to trust him or just leave to other places around the area. Rooms are spotless but quiet. Breakfast is served downstairs, or ask them to bring it to the room: Toast with no butter, no jam, instant coffee, cold eggs. Checking out with no staff because they all eat at the reception area, not caring about anything.
+ Large room and bed with modern and minimalist design, nice breakfast (they take it to your room right on your requested time), nice cold and hot shower water pressure, great location (many tour and travel agent and halal food nearby), weekend night market right on your doorstep, friendly and helpful staff, decent English spoken staffs, good wifi connection, and most importantly very affordable price - cleanliness can be improved (stain on bed cover and towel), no elevator, no electronic door lock, no shampoo, no water boiler Overall I had a good stay and may stay at Chomtrang again in the future
We really wanted to love this place - the location is great next to the train station and the rooms are large, recently renovated, sleek, nice amenities like hot water and fridge. But when we arrived the hotel did not seem very full and they still placed us in a room on the lowest floor in the back of the hotel - just a few meters from a MAJOR construction project next door. They were using saws on metal and demolishing an entire shopping complex. Why on earth you would put us in this room of all rooms is beyond me! After an hour of seeing if we could tolerate it we could not and they moved us to a room on one of the top floors in the FRONT of the building. Much quieter. If visiting anytime after this review was written (Jan 2017) request a front facing room! They offer breakfast in your room which is a nice perk. But there is a lack of communication between the staff because they never came to clean our room during the day (our dirty breakfast dishes were in our room when we arrived back at 5pm, not a great sight) and then on the second morning they forgot our breakfast all together. I appreciate them trying to do a breakfast in room service but it's poorly executed and would rather just have it in the lobby if they can't figure that out. Also - NONE of the staff spoke English. I understand some Thai and tried my hardest to communicate with them but it was really difficult to get any information about the town from them. Bizarre as their rooms are listed on Agoda and Booking and the whole hotel is geared toward tourists they should probably have a few people able to communicate with their visitors. It's a new hotel working out the kinks I guess!
This is the third and the best hotel we were in when visiting Trang. Modern, minimalist, clean and cheap. Breakfast was included in the price. Nice staff, poor english. The only place during our visit in Thailand, where we got a complimentary lift to the airport.
