Sadly, we left feeing a little disappointed. The communal areas (entrance floor) are all as per photos - beautiful and immaculately kept. The rooms are tired. Very tired and dated, generally cleanliness ok however I wouldn’t class The Imperial as the same as 90pc of the four star hotels I’ve visited. The “spa” has a reasonable pool ok hot tub and good saunas with nice staff but again the photos are overtly generous. We visited in February the occupancy was particularly low and some consideration for the parking rate and free room upgrades would go some way to improving the customer experience for such a dated property. We try and preference independents over the chain hotels in the UK but if we were to visit the area again I would be booking one and earning loyalty points in preference.

Booked an economy room but was upgraded to a lovely seaview. Room was comfortable and clean, with a bath as requested. We took the option of no housekeeping and got a voucher for £5 off our bar tab. The Hotel has a beautiful setting, a lovely atmosphere and is a wonderful building. The breakfast was amazing, the staff friendly and efficient for the breakfast and the setting gorgeous. It could so easily be amazing overall but on the downside, the building itself and interior is in need of a good amount of TLC and the customer service in areas other than breakfast, is a bit lacking, maybe due to being short-staffed. I will definitely return, but would love to see it returned to its former glory.
