We enjoy staying at the Crowne because it’s close to the airport. This time we noticed that our room wasn’t very clean. Hair in the bathroom and it might be time to paint and freshen up the rooms.

this was the real deal. the food was very good; the breakfast was also outstanding as to taste and big choice. i especially appreciated the AC heat pump, which had heat and cooling. the entire experience left me promising myself that if i ever decided to overnight in Panama City again the Tocumen Crowne Plaza hotel is where i will be staying.

Room was clean, comfortable. It was loud outside.from street traffic. Air conditioner was loud too. I wish the front desk little store sold basic medicines like Motrin or Benadryl. I had to get medicine from a farmacia, which is expensive if you need to take a taxi or UBER. Thankfully, I was able to get a delivery to the hotel with their version of Doordash, PedidosYa.

Let me start by saying this: I’m not picky. I don’t need luxury. I just expect a hotel that markets itself as Crowne Plaza to at least beat the standard of the sketchy places you stay in when there are no other options. First question when we walked into the room was simple: where’s the fridge? Answer: there isn’t one. Second question: okay… where’s the microwave? Answer: also not there. Now yes — my wife correctly reminded me that the flea-market-level hotel we stayed at in Bocas del Toro didn’t have a fridge either. That place also shouldn’t be recommended to relatives you don’t like, and that’s kind of the point. When a Crowne Plaza is operating at the same appliance level as a place you warn people about, something’s off. We stayed at several other hotels in Panama on this trip. Every single one of them had a fridge. This one didn’t, and it really takes away from the stay, especially if you’re there more than a few hours. The buffet downstairs didn’t help matters. It was bland, generic, and tasted like it came straight out of a can and onto a warming tray. Nothing offensive — just nothing worth the money. If food had a personality, this one would say “I exist.” The room was clean, the bed was fine, and it’s close to the airport — which is why I didn’t drop it to two stars. But for the price and the brand, I expected more than “well, at least it’s nearby.”
